Anyone sponsered ?

Post by Jason Rubito »

out in NEFA land ?

just wondering cause i have been talking to David McCormack at gateway, about being one of the AM sponsers. Not that i actually need a sponser, but i tend to be sponsered in all my hobbies. When I was doing car's i was sponsered by a few componies. Talking with dave he seems like a really good guy, and i love some of their stuff so why not ?

But those that ARE sponsered, how do you like it ? Is it more work then you expected ? More of a hassle then its worth ? David seems really good to work with on the purchases that i have made with him, so i will be crossing my fingers.

I just ended my sponsorship today. It had nothing to do with Gateway other than the fact that my time to play tournaments is spent on many other things now (including working), its great to be sponsored when sponsored as an am we got discs, some clothing and that was about it (we got A LOT of discs). Make sure that you can put the time into the game to warrant it. Also a lot of people leave gateway because they get frustrated trying to learn their discs. Best advice for playing an all gateway bag KISS, keep it simple stupid. Good luck if you choose to be sponsored.

Thats what i want to hear. My weekends are totally open so those will strictly be for tournaments. As it is now, my bag is full but thats cause im your typical over planner 90% of the discs in there are not thrown. Considering i have only started playing for a year and a half roughly, i am not totally stuck on a disc. So now is the perfect time to get discs and learn them cause my game is progressing daily.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed hopeing i do get it. we have had emails back and forth for over a month today i finally hammered it home that i want to jump full board in.

I'm still on board with Millennium so that's what I'll be throwing. Seems to have worked out pretty well for the past couple of years.

I'm sponsored by DISCRAFT.com and LSdiscs.net.

Let me say that without these sponsors it would be a lot tougher to be on the road playing tournaments.... So it works; I travel and meet peeople and introduce them to my sponsor and my sponsor helps me stay on the road...I feel like I've gotten a lot of people throwing Discraft plastic!!! And no ya'll should check out the SICK gear from LSDiscs.net.

I don't feel like I am just sponsored by these companies but I feel as if I am a employee and its my job to get the word out about there products or services...

Why don't you just ask him for last year's tax returns while you're at it.

Thanks Bill I almost forgot about the tax returns.

Maybe I should rephrase my question:

How much is the average sponsership for a sponsered discgolfer?

I get a certain amount of free discs yearly. And discounted rates if I want to buy any. Also I recieve cash bonuses for playing well in bigger tournaments, (5th place or better). I get as much cloths and gear as I can order, last year I filled my closet from sweatshirts to visors.......I can also call my sponsors for more products or help with bigger entry fees and they always find a way......

What I do, is sell discs either in person or E-bay and use that money for tournament entry fees...

Want discs at cheaper prices= pm me....

I do pay taxes on my yearly earnings for tournaments and also me and my brother have a registered company for disc vendors "FriZZak Discgolf"
