Best color for finding your disc...

Post by David Hoey »

I'm curious if there was a concensus for which color is best for finding your disc in different conditions, like fields, leaves in the woods, and wherever else we find ourselves occasionaly. Please feel free to respond why.

This is a popularity contest.

much appreciated,

dave

I voted Orange, it shows up in the leaves and the field. I can't find a tie-dye to save my life, so i stopped buying them.

That bright champion yellow is the best for finding discs. The new star green/yellow is funk neon and is also the balls.

Neon yellow or Pink. I'm somewhat color blind so the pink and bright yellow are a nice contrast to the green grass.

Yaller!

But, here in NEFAland it really depends on the season. Try finding a yellow disc under a birch tree in the Fall!

I find white is easiest to find anytime other than winter where I will never throw a white disc (or look for yours if you throw white).

Bright (pink, yellow, or orange) are best winter and year round colors. As Phil says, sometimes leaves make yellow/orange difficult to find. Black/green/brown are almost always bad.

I have a black P&A that I seems to seek out the lazy river at Pyramids. Darn near impossible to see it in the shining water. Makes me wonder why I keep throwing it.

Although I think neon green is great especially when under water I've got a light blue ESP disc which sticks out like a sore thumb in all conditions. Plus, it's kind of girly so I like that too.

Now that I think of it.. Light Blue might be the best.

But then again it's usually Carolina Blue, which I hate, so I will not throw it.

Now, Clemson Orange.. NOW YOUR TALKIN!

The neon green, while good under most conditions, will hide in fern undergrowth. It blends well with sunlight hitting new growth. I like Orange, blue, and yellows, of course white. I have some brown tie-dyes that are begging to get lost in the autumn leaves.

Love the Pink, all year long. Just traded my best pink TL to a Women golfer. I used it every round too. It"s all about the Karma.

Bright Pink...the gayer the better. I also like bright yellow, orange and white. A lot depends on the seasons. I wouldn't throw orange or yellow a lot in the fall. For that matter throwing white in the snow is just dumb.

Of course, if I found the fairway more often, I wouldn't have to worry about this stuff.

I'd have to go with the other pinks. Even at dusk my pink destroyer is very easy to find.

If its black some punk kid will find it and call your cell phone to tell you its gone forever. Then you just keep an eye out, find him, call him out , and snatch it from his hands. Pretty Simple, no?

I used to play glow golf in WI with Jon Drummond and he would show up with a black Cyclone when the rest of us were throwing glow discs.

He never lost it and he always won. It came out of his hand and he would say, 6 feet left of the pin..... and there it would be.

I find that blue sticks out well in most landscapes. Orange and yellow and red can get eaten up by autumn foliage. Clear and black are terrible to find. Pink isn't bad either to find.
