Looking for a "PIG" putter?

Post by Bobby Direnzo »

I was looking for something that will not flip over and will come back for those short 180ft and 200ft holes. Two putters in mind but not sure what one is the best pick. Anyone throw these three types of putters?

Rhyno STAR

Rhyno-DX

Rhyno-Pro-Soft

Thanks..

For the record, I haven't thrown the Pig yet, but the Rhyno isn't bad for a driving putter. Before my dog ate it several months ago, I used to drive old hole 15 at Barre with it on occasion. With hyzer it'll hold the straight line.
I'll probably get one again, and a Pig as well for a double disc date.

we played catch with a couple of pigs after the GHDGO on saturday.... as buzzkill said, super overstable. It comes out of an anny faster than any putter I've thrown and it's hard to even get it on that angle (basically just have to throw it left edge up... we were snapping the hell out of them still didnt get it to turn over on a normal throw).

It's also a phenomenal roller. Throwing hard flick rollers they wouldnt flip over, but would come up vertical and just keep chugging along in a straight line.

Bob,

I throw a Soft Rhyno for 175-250 much of the time.... and with wind at shorter distances as well. It is one of the more predicatbel discs out ther IMO. It's certainly not a Finess Disc though... at least not for straight shots. If you throw it soft it will hyzer.

I like it becuase you can throw it hard, it's easy to control, and is way more forgiving than an Aviar when you don't execute the shot just right.

Also my go to discs for Anhyzer Appraoch Flicks.

You need to just get a new wiz or aviar and fix your problem of turning them over rather than get a diff. disc to fix the problem. You really shouldn't be able to turn over a wiz unless it's pretty beat.

if your new aviars/wizards are flipping over, a rhyno will flip just as much. you probably need to grip disc differently (use fan grip or fork grip NOT power grip). practice throwing an ultimate disc into a headwind without flipping it and you will never flip a putter again.

if you want a really overstable short range pig, the gateway demon/scout is the best ive ever thrown. im not sure if they still make them.

Yup. The rhyon is a bb aviar with a thumb trac. If you are flipping putters over the problem isn't the disc.

Only time I flip it over is in a head wind. My main problem is a 180 to 200ft hole when I need to have it hyzer out for me but my regular putter just will fly strait and I need it to break left towards the basket not keep going strait and sit down. Midrange it to much of a disc for those holes. I backhand righty so I want it to fade to the left more. Other putters go strait and sit down and not fade out to the left when I need them too.

Kermit the Frog or at least his finger....if I remember the joke correctly

I won a star spider in a raffle a few years back and forehand/backhand it just will not flip, ever. It took me a while to warm up to it but I'm glad I did.

the Gator is another good stable short range disc. great for short flicks and hammers as well as regular hyzers. its very predictable. i think its a notch or two more stable than the spider, but thats a great disc too
