Might be getting some rounds in at the Nini. I will be vacationing in the area, about 20 mins from the course. Probably looking at Monday 7/7 if not sooner and throughout the week. Anyone interested in meeting up give a shout here or pm me.

Hey,

I was over at the Disc Golf Course at Ninigret Park on Fri 7/4/2008 to check on things...

It seems that the ACOE has installed the last four well pipes in the remediation site...there are four 55gal barrels sitting there... that say on the top of them that they will be removed no later than 7/14/2008...

The ACOE have started removing the hay bales and silt fencing...

I have no idea when the ACOE might Hydro seed the area...

We are still in a holding pattern til the ACOE is finished...

Thanks,

Hey,

Went by the course today(Fri, 7/11/2008)...

the site as Ryan said has been Hydro seeded...The four 55 gal drums are still there...

The silt fence and hay bales have NOT been removed...

I have been in contact with the town... I am trying to move things forward before the next Rec Comm Mtg in Sept..

Please be patient and do not do anything to alter the condition of the course before we have permission from the town...

This includes not going into the area of hole #8...please encourage players to walk around to nine by the senior center...

Thanks,

Hey,

I was down at the park today(fri 7/18/2008) checking on the ACOE progress on finishing up the work at the remediation site...

The four 55gal drums are still there...the remaining silt fencing and hay bales have Not been removed...

I spoke with the Parks and Rec. Director...just happened to catch her in the park...

We spoke about the course and moving forward...it all still seems positive ...it will be the fall before much happens...

I have produced a document that lists the many different things on each hole that need to be completed in order to finish construction of the course...

A large part of that goal is to create a sustainable landscape design...

Unfortunately, this means that the course will remain in a very overgrown condition...we do NOT have permission to alter the conditions of the course in any way...

The only exceptions to this rule are Holes#6 & #7...

Only under my supervision can we continue with the landscaping on these two holes as long as we do not disturb the soil...

Please refrain from doing any thing to the course...Any kind of cutting or working on the course might jepordize our relationship with the town...

We have waited almost 5 years since the "No Dig" order was enacted...

A few more months will go by fast...

Anybody see on the TV news that the Charlestown Town Council President was arrested for assaulting a person inside town hall video taping the council mtg in action...

May give you some idea of the sillyness of politics...

Disc golf was brought up during this very contentious meeting...

I hope that the disc golf was not contaminated with some of the town silliness...

Please respect the wishes of the town and wait for the official lifting of the "No Dig" order...also understand that the entire park is under a "No Dig" order...Disc Golf is not the only park entity waiting for the "No Dig" to go away...

There is an observatory in the park that is open on Fri eves...only a few people can see what the telescope sees...They are going to build a star theater with sixty or so seats with a digital projection of what the telescope sees...This project is a $250,000.00+ project... they had raised most of the funding and had a building permit when the "No Dig" was enacted...

Please be patient... it will be worth it in the end...

Hey,

I went by the course on Sat 7/26/2008...

the silt fencing is NOT removed nor are the four 55gal drums of effluent...

Nothing will happen before the ACOE is finished and signs off on there work....

The town is still...whatever the town is...

The rec comm mtg is in Sept...should be on the agenda...

I have not head back about the document that I summitted...

I expect that I will be given a chance to expound on what we would like to do to finish construction of the 18 hole disc golf course at Ninigret Park...

I look forward to finishing this project...

Many tees to construct...raise more $ for poleholes and course signage etc.

Hey,

Went by the course on Fri Aug 1,2008... The silt fencing has been removed and the hay bales knocked apart... the hydroseed has germinated and is sprouting across the remediation site...

The four 55gal drums of effluent are still there... as is the silt fencing and stakes in a pile near the pallet with the drums...

It is Aug already.. the Sept. mtg will be here in a few weeks...

Once the ACOE is finished.. the town will move forward...

Please respect the towns directives and do not alter the course in any way...

Hey,

I worked on the course yesterday (Thurs. 8/28/2008)...Mowed most of the heavy brush on #6 and #7...

I am on the agenda for the next Rec Com Mtg on Tues. Sept. 9,2008...

On the agenda are two things from me...

Can we continue with the installation of the course???

Permission to run the 17th Frostbite Classic Sat. Feb. 14,2009...

The barrels of effluent are still there...

Only a couple more weeks...and we get to the table to talk...

I hope that it is a positive meeting ... I have waited a solid FIVE YEARS for the construction of the course to continue...

Others who could not wait and continued with thier own agendas for the course over the last few years have strained the relationship of the Disc Golf Course and the Town...

I have worked very hard to maintain a positive working relationship with the town...

Please do not take it upon yourself to "FIX" the course of your own accord...

Per the Town of Charlestown, I need to be involved with any work on the course...

Hope to be posting a workday schedule to move the course in the right direction in the next few weeks...

Thanks,

Hey,

The meeting went well...we have been given permission to move forward with some of the stuff to finish with the course...

We can still not disturb the soil...Town Council has to lift the "NO Dig" order...

It is possible that this could happen at the next council mtg...

I have to produce a list of the first things that we want to accomplish with out digging...

Any work that is done to the course has to be organized with and through me...I am the Volunteer Co-ordinater for the Ninigret Parks Disc Golf Course...

I will be organizing some work days in the near future to continue with the quest to open a public disc golf course with 18 pole holes in R.I.

I was also given permission to host the 17th R.I. Frostbite Classic on Feb.14,2009...

There is a lot of Fund raising to do to complete this Disc Golf course....

There is an acct with $2600.00 in it... I want nine new Mach III's for the holes in the "Back Nine"... Number plates for the Mach II News that are on the front nine...Signs for tees..signs for rules..signs for...Tee pads for all the tees... a total of 54 different tee areas...Fly18 pads or the new Vibram pads???

The list of things to do is a very long one...

Look forward to meetimg many old and new faces out on the course helping finish the first 18 pole hole course in R.I.

Thanks,

Hey,

There is a mtg on this coming tues...wanted to bring all these threadss to the top...

The remediation in the area of where holes #3,#4,#5 and #17 is complete...

The town council has still NOT lifted the "No Dig" order acrosss the entire park...

I hope that this will change soon...most of the things to do to the course require disturbing the soil...

Thanks for all the good vibes...
