Even though I don't know much about the behind the scenes stuff, ever year I wonder if it will be the last tournament at Rindge. Losing PCC and CW proves that bad things can happen to good disc golf courses. Fingers crossed.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

Everyday I go to work Rob and pour my blood, sweat and tears into Maple Hill, I have a similar feeling.
Like the actions of one could ruin my dream come true. All I've worked for could be pulled, probably for good reason and without notice.
My connection to the farm would be severed and I'd be devastated.

Tread lightly everyone when you are at John Hunts course in Rindge.
Treat it as if it were the last time you will ever play there.
Treat it as if disc golf gods reside there.
Hopefully, somehow this year, we can figure a way to leave the place looking better than we found it 8-)

Well said.

Any real disc golfer should have this mentality. Then teach it to the up and comers.

Excellent words of advise Dave, The biggest thing we can do to ensure the return of NH states to Rindge is to be very well behaved guests. Drive very slowly in the Sunridge development, keep loud music to a minimum, I don't recommend fireworks either. I'm not looking to be the fun police, I am one of the few people who gets to play this course anytime I want,I plan on playing Thursday and Friday during the day and doing the tourney Sat. If I could be succinct in my writing which I am not, I would sum it up like this.
Some of The folks down there are looking for an excuse to cause trouble for John, let's not give them any ammo.

I probably have generalized anxiety disorder myself Dave, worrying about some dbags getting Otter Brook pulled, just like you and Maple Hill, I have left a lot of myself out there and would be devastated beyond words to loose what I helped to create.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

That.

Same goes for Barre; several times dbags have tried to disembowel what was started there by not following posted rules, trash everywhere, general idiocy. Even though it's public land, all it takes is one bad twitch to start the dominoes falling.

I began working WITH the 'land owners', not against them. Didn't cry when they said no, didn't fight when they questioned why.

I've never played Hunt's, September stuff has always gotten in the way, and too many tournaments in a row isn't too good for my love life. I am trying to get out of work early next week to play at least once.

And will respect what is not mine.

I hope you can make it out there Jim, it is a short technical course, I think you would do well on it. Let me know if you are going to make it next Thurs-Fri, would love to play a round w/you.

You touched on the concept of the older generation acting as mentors for the new crowd, this is really important, I see a real disconnect with some of the youngsters today when it comes to values that most of us were raised with. If it is not yours, don't take it, if you break it fix it. Live with integrity. None of these seem to be to lofty goals, however, the "me first" generation appears to be in need of a reminder. I believe our actions dictate the path of our intention and will, the old guard needs to remain vigilant stewards, if we do, I anticipate DG will continue to flourish.
Enough of my soapbox, time to go to work.

Agreed! The less our presence is felt, the better! After reading some town board meeting minutes, you can cut the air of contentiousness in that neighborhood with a knife. Definitely drive slow and courteously through the entire neighborhood leading up to the course and respect the land as if it were your own backyard. I love this tournament and never want to see the privilege taken away.

I love the idea of driving very slow going in and outta there.
this would be an easy way to tell the hood we care.

I'm wondering if we should leave some flowers in a planter all nice-nice or create a planting bed before we leave?

Sometimes little things like this make all the difference to people. Sometimes not so much :?

This is a good idea Dave, however, there is a charter that states very specifically what Kind of ornamnents, gardens, vegatative life etc can be place  , Wish is was joking about this. I think The best we can do, is to be uber sensitive to noise, speed and trash.

How about a whiskey barrel full of flowers tastefully placed at the sign to turn down to sunridge?
Use the approved flowers?

I used to buy John an expensive 15yr single malt scotch each year when he was there in the castle.....
Just a little thank you.

That's a good idea Dave and actually would work, I think the SUnridge Charter applies to the surrounding residents. not so much the King of the castle. If I had a castle I would send out my minions and crush the uprising allowing freedom and Disc golf to Ring.

There's going to be a barrel full of whiskey at the sign? We will get some tasty flowers at lunch? This tournament keeps getting better!

Rindge Directions

From Eastern Mass:

Take Route 2 West go past Fitchburg/Leominster and continue to Exit 24B which is Route 140 North. Take 140 North for 9.3 Miles. The road will change to Route 12 North at the light. Continue another 1.4 Miles and take a right where it says To Route 202 North. Follow this north for about 5 miles (you will have crossed into NH). At this point you will be passing a Walmart on your left. Go 0.5 miles past the Walmart and take a left onto Perkins Road. Follow Perkins Road for about 1.3 Miles, and take a right onto Sunridge Road. Go about 0.6 Miles and bear left at fork. The road then ends shortly with a circular road. Stay to the right and then continue straight onto a dirt road. Go down the dirt road about a ¼ mile to an opening and you are at the course.

From Western Mass or Route 91:
Get to Route 2 and go just east of Athol and take Route 202 north through Winchendon. When you cross over into NH go another couple miles to the Walmart on your left.

From the South:
For most, the best way is to come up through Worcester, and get on 190 North, then Route 2 west.

From the North or if you get lost:

Get to the intersection of Routes 119 and 202 in Rindge. Go south on Route 202 for about 3/4 mile and take a right onto Perkins Road.

From Vermont it may be easiest to come across 119 from Brattleboro.

You can take a right off of 202 on either Perkins Road or Thomas Road, they merge together very quickly. Either will work.

A few things to remember while you are at the course and property:

- Stay on the course and the camping peninsula as much as possible, there are people renting the castle and in the other houses along the street

- Drive very slowly on the roads leading to the course, Sunridge Road and the dirt road

- Limit your trips in and out of the course and keep the music down while driving in and out.

- No Fireworks at all!

- Clean up after yourself

- Have a great time!!!

NO FIREWORKS.
NO FIREWOOD DUE TO ASIAN LONG HORNED BEETLES.
DRIVE WAY SLOWER THAN YOU THINK YOU NEED TO.
TURN MUSIC WAY DOWN OR OFF WHEN DRIVING INTO SUNRIDGE RD.
LETS NOT GIVE ANY REASONS TO PULL THIS EVENT FROM THIS COURSE.
NO PETS.
LEAVE KIDS AT HOME AS THIS IS TRADITIONALLY A LATE NIGHT PARTY ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS. IT'S A DISC GOLFER PARTY, NOT FAMILY CAMP TRIP.
AND MOST INPORTANTLY, GET READY TO HAVE GOBS OF FUN!!!

Thank you in advance everyone.
