This week brought out another big crowd of 62 players despite the humid and potential stormy weather! It was certainly warm and muggy but not a drop of rain.

Nick Erickson hit his first career ace on Hole 2 and it was worth $157. We had another 2 new players join us so that brings our yearly total to 138 unique players and 950 total players and average of 59.3 players per night. Looking at these stats we have just about DOUBLED our attendance since the 2012 league season and we have increased about 25% since last year. Good stuff!

A little delayed in posting the results, sorry about that!

Last Wednesday we only had 49 players due to the rain/thunderstorms that were right on the doorstep. We actually kinda lucked out and ended up playing half the round dry and only some moderate rain during the 2nd half. These 49 players brought out season total to 999 players! Up to 140 unique players as well.

Dean Onners got the brand new ace pot for hitting hole 2. I think it was worth 24 bucks!

59 players braved a less than stellar forecast and everyone was rewarded with very nice conditions. A little humid but not too hot..

Another 4 new players joined us. This brings our total up to 148 unique players this year and 1,124 total players.

Ken Marshall Aced hole 4 for $62 bucks and Rob Walker shot a smoking 51 for his personal best!

Ken Gary is starting to pull away with the A pool points series, who is going to step up and knock him off the top?

I received an email from the producer of Chronicle today! They are doing a 30 minute piece on golf and wanted to include a bit on disc golf as well. The coolest part of the whole thing is that they choose our league to come and check out! Sooo, this Wednesday there will be a video and interview crew at our league. Tonight should be treated like an A-tier from the regulars. Conceal EVERYTHING that could be viewed as a poor reflection on us (imagine the Devens Parks & Rec. crew watching this on TV).

I don't know if Chronicle will be going this in-depth, but here is a VERY GOOD example on what they could be doing since NH Chronicle just featured Bellamy Park in Dover, NH last week - http://www.wmur.com/new-hampshire-chronicle/wednesday-july-16th-disc-golf/26886774#!bksJdr

I watched it with sound on low at work so I couldn't hear it all, but what I could hear reflected wonderfully on both the game and also the group of people at Bellamy. Our goal should be nothing less.

Two things you'll notice in that video:
1) No Rhynos were thrown... an absolute shame!!!
2) No one was drinking or smoking.

Bellamy not only hit a home run, they showed why they are a diamond in a rough area for disc golf courses. Devens is the gem of northern MA and hopefully we can prove that too. If they take the cameras on course and you see trash ANYWHERE, definitely pick it up... this includes Polecats, Sonics, and Aviars If they film the parking lot, take cigarette breaks over by the practice basket if needed. Let's show why we are getting over 60 players at league each week and why we had to add (and deserve) our new General course.

Steer the interviews toward certain people if possible (ie, luke, ken, bill, bob), thats my 2cents. Our sport may never recover if they do an in-depth interview with Dean or J-rod.

I think they are going to interview Ken and Ashley and will take some video on hole 1 of a couple people before league starts and depending on the equipment they have with them they will probably stay for a little bit and shoot video of players coming through hole 13..

A record night at league this past Wednesday. We had 70 players on a night with perfect weather!

I'm a little late getting this done but I heard of lots of personal best scores out there and the average score was pretty low as well. We had 4 new players join us so that makes 159 unique players and 1259 total players. Average of 59.95 per week.

No one hit the ace pot for a change so the pot starts at $35 next week.

weather.com is showing rain for 5pm, and no rain for 6pm. So here's hoping that it's gone by 5:29 at the latest. A round cooled off in the 70s sounds like a very nice way to spend a Wednesday evening chucking discs.

Just looked at the forecast for tonight - Looks pretty good. Only a 10% chance of rain early on.. Yay!

Come out and get your Devens 2 tryout round in and grab as many points as you can because the season only has about 10 or 11 weeks remaining.

Speaking of points, I have a basic payout structure for each pool. This is subject to change slightly:

A pool -
1st $150
2nd $100
3rd $50

B pool -
1st $100
2nd $75
3rd $50

C pool -
1st $75
2nd $50
3rd $25

Womens Pool -
1st $75
2nd $50
3rd $25

That's $825 in payouts based on where we stand now with money set aside for the bonanza. If we continue to get large groups of people the payout will only increase and I will likely put that money directly into the top A pool spot.

Lots of people are in the hunt for the top spots. Every CTP, Skills and top finish within your pool is super important. Also remember that the more you come out to league the more chances you have to win some big prizes at the Bag Tag Bonanza.

Weather turned out to be better than forecast yesterday and we ended up getting 66 players including another 5 to add to the astounding unique player # (now at 164) and the total # of golfers is 1325 (avg per week is 60.22)

Josh St. Denis nailed hole 4 for $68 bucks. Hole 4 has been hit 3 times this season which matches the hole 2 for the most aced hole at league. Thats a bit surprising to me.

It seems every week someone gets a payout for placing or CTP and doesn't stick around to collect their $.. I know it can get to be a late night with our full group but if you don't pick up your own money or have someone grab it for you it goes into the course funds.

Well, rain looks inevitable for league tonight. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the heavy stuff is over by then. I'm bringing my ez up tent to keep the computer dry. Can someone bring another one to keep people dry?

Some very heavy rain kept a lot of the players away but we still had 34 very dedicated people show up for league. It poured for about an hour to start but it wasn't bad after that.

Sam Misuraca aced hole 9 for $17 bucks and Christine Reynolds shot another personal best score!

Next week MAY be the last 5:30 start time. It was pretty dark playing the last hole yesterday but play was abnormally slow yesterday for several groups and cards came in about 15 minutes later than normal.

Despite the weather, I had a great time playing with Bob and Brendan. Props to Brendan's girlfriend for coming out and walking the course with us - not so much because of the weather, but more the jackassery she endured from the 3 of us. Might be a keeper, Brendan.
