#480 The serenity of playing a round after getting some bad news in your life....sun shining through the trees in January....favorite disc in hand.....and parking the basket. Very cathartic.

#479 Finding a sport/activity that I can absolutely not live without. Being a competitive/somewhat athletic person, I have had many love affairs with different things...Softball, Pool, Ping Pong, Ball Golf, Mountain Biking and virtually every other sport on the planet...I still love them all but I have not gone more than a week, winters included, w/o playing a round of disc golf in the 5 years I have been playing since I switched jobs and met my new friend Roger Gagnon, who turned me on to this amazing sport. Don't know what I'd do without it. :bom:

#472....weedwacking a hole for the Thursday night disc league and seeing a broadwinged hawk pick off a catbird in mid flight and proceed to land on a limb 20 feet overhead and have breakfast. Thank you for being higher up the food chain, where I can safely be playing DG and not have to worry about being someones breakfast.

#465 Random Acts of Kindness

I was in a foursome this weekend for the North Shore Classic, and one of the players is Chris Mergemekes. After a while he asks if I'm "the same Stew who gave me a Pye Brook Orc for my wedding back in 2008?"

Turns out he was in town from California, and was playing a round the day before his Massachusetts-based finacee and he were getting married. I think I had just said "hi" and asked where he was from. I went to the car, produced a fresh Champ Orc, and penned in sharpie "Congratualtions on your impending nuptials" on the under side.

Yes, Chris still has the disc. And still happily married.

Seeing chicks on the course -- especially chicks playing with chicks and no dicks -- and thinking how James Lane once gave me an extra two bucks tacked onto the $3 greens fee and told me to put it towards a portolet. Chicks'll come if you get a portolet, he said.

#459 - Playing J-Park in upstate NY in the middle of January, blue sky, snow all around (except for the 27 perfectly dry tee pads), 22 cars in the parking lot (mostly casual players) and for 12 of us the only thing on the line was our bag tags and bragging rights. What a beautiful way to spend the day.
Oh Yes - and #458 would be defending a #2 tag!

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.
