Being a competitive/somewhat athletic person, I have had many love affairs with different things...Softball, Pool, Ping Pong, Ball Golf, Mountain Biking and virtually every other sport on the planet...I still love them all but I have not gone more than a week, winters included, w/o playing a round of disc golf in the 5 years I have been playing since I switched jobs and met my new friend Roger Gagnon, who turned me on to this amazing sport. Don't know what I'd do without it.

I was in a foursome this weekend for the North Shore Classic, and one of the players is Chris Mergemekes. After a while he asks if I'm "the same Stew who gave me a Pye Brook Orc for my wedding back in 2008?"

Turns out he was in town from California, and was playing a round the day before his Massachusetts-based finacee and he were getting married. I think I had just said "hi" and asked where he was from. I went to the car, produced a fresh Champ Orc, and penned in sharpie "Congratualtions on your impending nuptials" on the under side.

Yes, Chris still has the disc. And still happily married.

#459 - Playing J-Park in upstate NY in the middle of January, blue sky, snow all around (except for the 27 perfectly dry tee pads), 22 cars in the parking lot (mostly casual players) and for 12 of us the only thing on the line was our bag tags and bragging rights. What a beautiful way to spend the day.
Oh Yes - and #458 would be defending a #2 tag!
