WOW! That is awesome, Thanks Guys. I love the Devens Crew. Good group of people. Speaking of Otter Brook, I'm off to fire up the chain saw and continue the work. Devens will feel right at home at OB, it's got a similar flow and feel to it, can't wait for you to check it out and get some feedback.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
Allright, progress continues to be made, we had 11 guys show up last Sunday for a work day, hoping for another good turnout this Sunday.
Also good news: I now have keys to open the gate so we can drive down and a key for a storage shed that we can keep our saws, shovels, etc in. Not having to walk all this in every time will be nice.
Still plenty of work to do, most Fridays I am out there and every Sunday morning we will be there until we get the front 9 baskets in the ground. If anyone has experience in irrigation-water flowage, we could use your help.
Huge thanks to all who have given time, feedback and $, to support this effort, we are now a little over 700$ in the course fund!

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
It's primarily on #6, dog leg left hole up old logging road, I want to get that water flowing, it crosses #4, but I think we addressed that adequately last fall with some temp bridges. I think if we trench it a bit, it should run, probably will never be dry, but it wont be the rank primordial ooze that it currently is. stagnant water=big mosquito problem.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
We had 6 workers today, continued the seemingly endless task of clearing 3 and building a log bridge, it's coming along, but talk about labor intensive...however,it will get done, and this course will be sweet.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

I still think 7 is gonna be easier..derek things it will be crazy to..but once the mouth is carved it should be less then 3
really looking forward to seeing all the hard work..will be Keene Friday...

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
You'll be impressed, for me it's like time lapse photography, it's hard for me to gauge how much has been done, I'll spend 6 hours out there pole sawing and then look around and think, man, it doesn't look like I did anything, I guess Rome wasn't built in a day, neither was Otter Brook. I'll be out there Friday 9 am, bring Johnny, Hub likes having company.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

I'll be there a bit after 9, if I don't see your vehicle I'll unlock the gate so you can drive down (it will look like it is closed but you will be able to open up) I should have explained this to Derek last week
Hub d is pumped to see Johnny cakes and may bring some special scooby snacks to share that his mom made for him. great for morning breath.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
Solid work day for a Friday, 6 bodies! HOle #3 is almost playable! Hey TItan, I don't know about Johnny but Hub is wasted he hasn't gotten off the couch all afternoon! That's ok, a tired dog is a good dog.

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
lol..funny cuz I just thought Johnny was dead....he had been lying in his chair for so long I had to check if he was breathing...he is..just super tired from fun with Hub
man oh man is that hole sweeeeet..and yes solid group for a friday morning
people are gonna be in for such a treat when all these holes are brought to life
thinking about hole 7...I keep saying the "mirror to 3" I am kinda wrong in saying that...It should be the polar opposite of hole 3....that said..I think the "mouth" of hole 7 should be semi tight...then open up more towards uphill approach...as hole 3 is open--then closes up
do ya get what I mean?

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
Yeah I get you, (probably one of the few that do) looks like Derek got some stuff down on #6, I'll be out there this week w/chainsaw and hopefully a helper to start knocking down 7. Time to start talking and thinking about planting baskets

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
will be in town wedz again..I know ya guys work but just letting ya know
the people at GG make me L-O-L
I agree about baskets...as hole 8 is basically there..and 9 will just be a few big cuts to remain tight..just 7 needs major work
also the gap on 4 will need one selective cut..now that the hole is cut..TY Rob for leaving those trees until further discussion..you do really listen..you must make a good husband...lol...the hole can have a nice anny line if the gap over huge boulder is the chosen route..but anyways the giant pine tree and huge rock make it look real nice
as far as 6 goes..I think 2-4 semi big logs or 2 logs abutted to make the run will do..it will allow a walking area to grab disc..and then the main trail can just flank towards the left hand side...in regards to drainage..the road does go right there..so maybe rangers in time will have better solution(actual colvert/drainage...and we can always clean up the exit point of water(if ya dare call it that..lol) that will drain it better to the brook behind 4's tee area
that brook behind 3'w greeen is awesome and once cleaned up will just look amazing...the mossy rocks creating waterfall look sick
well anyways maybe cya wedz

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
Worked until 5, the green area for #3 is starting to pop, did some minor cutting, raking, and building a log berm around the circle. that is going to be one gorgeous hole when it is all said and done.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

PRobably should have an oxygen tank and some chairs, people will faint when they see this hole.

Crushed hole 8 all day, all chain sawing is now done, hole is opened up nice, multiple routes to pin and a nice ace run from the alt tee pad.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

so just 7,9 to go for the major saw work?
did ya do the alt on 8? cuz that is sweet line..just wondering...
hole 9 rob..as you know is tight shot..so just 1-2 big boys will surfice
can't wait to see your "line" on hole 10 opened up..heck that entire back 9 is awesome IMO...2-3 of them I am really excited to see

Re: ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON
Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with how it is coming, 9 is a bit more work than what you might initially think, but doable in a day with several guys working. The Alt line from 8 is real nice,Also carved an Anny line fairway from the teepad, that's what I like about this design, multiple lines and opportunities to develop a variety of throwing styles. also cleared up some scraggly trees that lead up to "lookout rock", sat there yesterday for a while and looked out upon our creation and thought "how F#cking cool is this".
Time to put rain gear on and go stack and clear.

well I suspect cutting the trail to nine from 8 will also take a lil time...
how many big trees estimated rob for 9? sorry beeen awhile since I saw the hole...also have ya explored anymore on alt nine...shooting down from up top? I know I was gonna leave that to mark B as he expressed interest in shaping that shot..but now i guess it is in the hand of the man with the saw...
well anyways I will be in town wedz again...will try to do some piling and check out 9..if ya want and can I would love to see some monsters trees go kaaaaboooom that day

or should I start digging holes? maybe GE can get the hole digger up there and I can just bang 9 holes out so at least they are mostly dug out
do you guys have sleeves and cement just curious?
