Les Sinnock wrote:So - I have a suggestion for how to spend the $800

Proposal:
We take $200.00 of the pot and spend it on food. Dave's idea of having a pizza place come out for orders in the morning probably would not work as the sole provider of food for everyone. Figure 80 people roughly - Say we are 4 people per large pie that's 80/4 or 20 pies at roughly $15 per pie we would be at $300. But if we bought 13 pies $195 and had teams bring some supplemental foods and drink, then we have a party.

Next we take another $200 and make 8 - $25 CTP's 4 for the singles round and 4 for the dubz

Last we take $400 and split it amongst the 3 top teams to come out of finals
1st place $200
2nd place $125
3rd place $75

Like I said I will bring a bunch of beer (glass sorry) for ONLY the clubhouse
I bet my dubz partner will bring a log of some Willimantic brewery fresh ale
If others bring food (I like the crockpot idea) then we have a feast.
Does this work ??
Other suggestions ?

This sits ok with me...

I think reds is a good idea so Kevin Gardners record can get crushed... That is the only redeeming part of us playing reds.

Ya know what the best part of playing the RED's is??

Everyone has the same chance to play well. No advantage for having a cannon. The tee shots are a distance that can leave you putts from inside 30' on almost all holes.

Those two layouts will offer an awesome warm up for the torture of GOLDS.

What round first??
Dubz or singles??

The RED round should take 1.5-2 hours to complete. I goes quick.
The GOLD round should take 3-4 hours. If players do not throw over 200-250', it takes them a long time to play the layout. It probably takes a half to a full hour longer for certain players who throw with less distance. Just putting it out there as pace of play can be difficult here as players attempt the GOLD.

Tom and I went out and carved a serious wound in the creation of a new #17 GOLD tee position. One more day of cutting and dragging, then we should be able to set the base for the construction of the tee.
It's gonna make a three more difficult to achieve. The tee shot will be thru a 100' corridor of trees from an elevated tee that sits level with the landing zone for your approach shot to the basket. Long bomb diggity well placed tee shot will leave you 150-200' upshot to arguably the best green on the property.

Will it be harder than the former #17 GOLD ?

Oh yeah it will

Pucker up

I told the Captain of my team I will be working the day of finals, so I won't be at West Thompson.

Just to take care of the players coming to Maple Hill :D

I hate to be the bearer or bad news, but you don't have all the say on layouts also. Location yes, layouts no. This needs to be voted on by the captains.

The rule is top team picks the location, and if there was a tie they compromise. Nothing says you pick the layout as well. There are other teams that had good seasons. We made it to the top half, so did Crane, WT and Buff. We also earned the right to have layout discussions.

P.S.
If you ever went to the Captains thread you would see that I don't view the layout much differently, but this is a Captains' Thread item and captains need to vote. FTR people, I voted Gold doubs in the morning and either white or red singles in the afternoon. Chastize all you want I really don't give a crap.

A round of reds might not be a bad idea after playing a long first round. Plus the red course can be played with 3 discs which makes plenty of room for the drinks :drunken:

Ok..just visited the captains forum. Again..point me to where it says that anyone but the winning teams have a say in finals location/layouts. There is no vote. Just because you said you'd like to discuss layout options doesn't mean that any team besides TT and PH have a say.

You point to me where it said top team gets to pick layout. Give me a break eric...it's our finals too.

90% of the courses out there you wouldn't have a say which layout to use. On most courses, the top team picking the course is the same thing as the top team picking the layout. At Maple, top teams picked the course, so I figure they also get to pick the layout...

I believe the top team is supposed to pick the location and host the event. That would mean picking the layout, hole assignments, handle the $, and arrange food and beverage. It's not much of a prize to have to deal with it all. That's why I'm helping with the scoreport. I'm not sure who is receiving the $ from Todd but I could handle that as well if needed.

Whatever...I can't wait for this ish to be done with. This used to be a fun carefree thing where teams got together and played disc golf. Now this year I have experience so many times, teams trying to reach for any edge they can get and I think that sucks!!! I have seen a team hold off dates until the other teams bend, and try to manipulate rules too many times! What is the drive behind these tactics, JFC this is not some multi million dollar orgaization. This is supposed to be fun...not something that is annoying. For me, the fun is done.

Sorry that you are stressing about this so much.
It's really very simple. Crack a beer, lay back, close your eyes and say there's no place like home.
Really there is no need to bother yourself with all these details.
You seem very angry - about everything. Just let it go.
The finals are set. There's nothing left but the crying.
Relax. Everything will work out just fine.
All this talk is only about throwing plastic.
When it's over, we will all drive away.
And forget about TC until next year.
See you there.

YO!

like this...

chill. No need to kill! This fun sun no blood needs to spill. Disc is ill, specially at maple hill.

So..

who got the will? Could it be TT? With a ten man team? Makin' Kelly scream? My guess? In their dreams....

Let's ween out the weak ones, WT and Buff is done. Bringing us to number 1. The top gun, the non-OB one (get it cuz there's a lot of OB at Maple)

pHill, Crane? throwin disc 2nd nature in Maine, but them punks is plain, talkin' a big game.. LAME!

Crane is a community, we throw disc with immunity, true unity, stay in tune with me.

The true tune is this, a big fat KISS! Sorry, no jomo but this ish bliss, it's DISC! dummy. We all a family, suckin from maple's mammory, damned if we...

can't put the differences aside, confide in your side but understand you gotta

As an aside I would like to formally apologize to the respective units from West Thompson Lake Disc Golf Team and Buffumville Lake Disc Golf Team. In an effort to keep my post to a minimum I may have disrespected your squads. Over the past few years I have got to know many of you. And you're all grea... eh. you guys are alright i guess. 8-) :drunken:

as another aside... who wants to think up some other competitions?

finals is a saturday right?

we have use of the clubhouse right?

I mean...

I'm not trying to step on any toes but does beer diving only have to happen at the Vibram? I understand Scoward won't be there but....

pong?

brawl? I mean shoot... Let's crush some ill rounds at probably the illest course and then rage. Eh?

I could see it going two ways.. An amazing bonding session where we all take psychadelikz and sing songs by a fire. Or, a raging drunken brawl winding up in the death of (sorry in advance guys) the entirety of the TT squad.

Eh?

sooo back to the main issue. Food and Beer. I say we take sum of that 800 and buy 2 kegs of some legit beers. Pioneer and Wormtown come to mind. Then every team decides to potluck themselves up a killer spread because potluck for 90 people is crazy. Then we take the rest and make some killer CTP, hot rounds, and best finish prizes to expand our courses resources.

This is the REAL ISSUE. i will play the rainbow layout and a putting contest for all i fkin care. Lets shut the Fk up and have some Fukin fun. Yes that means your Kelly. :P

I was just goofing brudda.. Long day at the shop and then nefa forums.. Obviously it wasn't obvious that my intention was to play on the spoof that TT gets hated on..

Again just goofin... My whole point was just making fun man... As the season is winding down I'm able to see just how silly serious it can get. Personally, no issues with any one on TT or any other team.

Just too much time in front of a computer screen :?

If you put down your metaphorical dukes I won't raise mine Whatdya say?
