I spent a soggy 5 hours out there today, most of what I cut yesterday on 8 is now stacked well out of the fairway, estimate another 5 hours for completion if I am flying solo, I plan to play Tully league tomorrow AM and then go out there and work until it is done. I have not checked out 9 yet.

However, on the diplomatic front, I met the caretakers who will be staying on site this summer, a super nice couple, very enthusiastic about this project and supportive, I told them how we planned to divert traffic away from their "residence" I think it would be good sense to involve them in the "pathway" development to lead players back to the road or #1. Get them involved and establish a good working relationship.

I doubt I will be able to get out there weds, however maybe Sat, we can duck out of GG for an hour and go check it out, I plan on being there all day. We have sleeves, collars, baskets, but no cement. It's nice to be at a point where we are actually talking about these things. I have done some poking around with the marker flags which are about 2 feet long, for the most part I have found the ground to be pretty soft, I think the digging will go ok, also the bridges and drainage are doing well, course is wet, but definitely not flooded, water is running where it should be.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Different care takers, but super nice people and very enthusiastic about all our efforts, hell the guy said he'd come out and help us some time. I told him we'd probably stop in next Saturday and asked him to do a walk with us as we designed the exit path from 9, he was very appreciative.

Happy to report that #8 IS DONE! stacked, cleared, tasty little alt pad ace run, nothing left but the cosmetics, pole sawing, twig removal etc.

Adam was back on board and spent the day cutting up the remaining monsters on #3, ( guy plays a mean chainsaw!) gravity should work and we can roll those bad boys down the hill to finish building the horizontal bridge. I'm going to start cutting #9 tomorrow. I want a full crew to assault #7.

I have spent the last two afternoons crushing #9, Fun little hole, will demand shot shaping, reminds me of #13 @ Tully, Two huge guardian pine trees dead center in front of tee pad about 10 feet past the teebox. tiny gap in between them if you are feeling lucky. Anny route and flick lanes are the safer alternatives, You will either get a 2 on this, or battle to save par :x

Cool alt placement from a top a boulder knoll, good path and not dangerous terrain, going out this am to clean up #3 and finish the footbridge.

Quikrete is on sale at home depot, will be getting 9 bags today, time to start sinking some baskets!

I can almost hear the Chains Jeff!

It WAS PURE Disc AWESOMENESS IN KEENE TODAY!
Played a fun round with Titan and John Rod in the AM for the grand opening of Granite Gorge, went to Otter brook and walked the course, ate lunch and marked a path for an exit after 9, Then went back to Granite Gorge for another round of disc. SO SWEET, Keene is going to get some play! Come get some.

Also have very nice homemade glass blown bag tags made by Chris Sherwin, only 10 were made for this run and 4 have been grabbed today, PM me if interested. 20$

ty JW

sorry rob..I was searching for matches on way home realized i had lighter..thought hey yellow showed up..and bang mr blue it was sorry

cool to be first ever to play DG in keene

course will be awesome in time as they work hard there..2 days they got tons done..and had to open the lodge and everything..heck baskets arrived friday afternoon...

so they have a plan now..a crew..DG support and a gem of land..oh and plenty of equipment

I suspect they made 200 smackers today from DG'ers..not bad for first day..I think they will now realize the value..and such a small sample size..it will only go kaboom

900ft drives are always fun

in regards to otter brook...wow Rob I am always impressed with your work..and I do believe others are to as I heard it first hand..lol

peeps when rob says put the baskets out..you are in for a friggin treat...the holes are amazing

and again in due time this will evolve into something special a championship layout of 18 holes combined with 18 alt tees for a different look geared towards the newbs..ace races and a change of pace for locals

campground..lake/swimming beach/fire pits galore setup along river..etc etc etc..and soon a DG course

TY for your work Keene crew

1 monster hole to go rob...and you be careful with that hanger bud!

Why yes, these are the two current Granite Gorge course record holders sharing a 1 down (26) on the front 9. Come beat it 8-)

yeah but robs was on the intended layout..as they misplaced 2 holes in AM..as it was go time sat..and baskets got there friday

we tweaked it back 2nd round..adds 400ft to layout roughly

my 2 28's were no good today

the course will get harder as the real tee areas are cleared and the greens are cleared more so the baskets can be set to final locations...

should add another 300-400 ft to layout once more work is done

the medallion is in picture rob..lol

the pyramid is just awesome and once cleaned up will be seet green area with quite an obstacle in way

anyone who complains it is rough out there...an under 930 rated golfer crushed a 56 first time through..no tees actually rough tees..and incomplete wooded fairway..sick..in 90 degree weather..all over the rough..missing putts...completely tired

I trust the layout will be fun for now but will need a few tweaks to strengthen the holes and increase difficulty a lil while maintaining some newb balance(it is tough on slope to cater to newbs in anyway kinda..the walk it for the brave and the rough for the fearless)..so the owner may want a newb/kid friendly loop on scene w/ pole target of some sort...then the upper layout will be evaluated and prob move to sickness

Put some more time in after work today on "the Delusion" it is really opening up nice.
GG league starts tomorrow night 5:45, will play in rain, pull the plug if thunder gets close. It would be cool to have your help Saturday if you are in the area.

rob just spoke with GECO about the auger...he is tentatively scheduled to bring it up and bang out those 9 holes(yummy nine holes lol..well depends on what hole)

so no exact date lined up yet or time...but we will sure that up as the week progresses

we shall auger them and then you guys can just scratch em out and sink collars/cement

any changes or ideas in regards to actual pin locations..voice concerns soon..if not I think I know where they go..lol

If you have auger access Drill those holes! All pin locations are marked on the front 9 with orange flags. I plan on getting out there tomorrow am, and working all day and Saturday trying to get 7 in playable shape, thinking I may get some help, that would be cool, either way it will get down.

I know nothing about sinking a basket so I will need some experienced help.

no worries, with about 10 cords of wood to be limbed and stacked on #7 there is ample work. I'm not worried about the actual hole digging, I need bodies, I don't mind working solo out there, but it is slow going.

FOR ANYONE READING THIS: PLEASE CONSIDER LENDING A HAND if only for a couple hours, it makes a big difference and is greatly appreciated. I will be out there Wed-Thursday afternoon until dark, and all day Friday, not sure about the weekend yet, may go fishing and try to have a life.
