I sprayed over 200 gallons of round up yesterday. The poison ivy will be dead by Disc Jam. Sprayed all of 2,3,5,8,9. Sprayed around the baskets on 6,7,15,16. Sprayed around all of the trees on 15. 16 is next. Hole 1 and 4 will be done today. Then 12,13,14. I will try some other stuff that kills ivy but not grass on 6 and 7.

Blown away by Hyland! What a gorgeous course. I didn't know about it before Disc Jam, and I'm still ecstatic that such an event even took place. Thank you!! Live music + Disc Golf, what took you two so long to get together?

Now ~ how in the world can I play Hyland again? Someone at West Thompson Lake last night told me they understand it to have been recently changed to public/pay-to-play, but this thread seems to say otherwise. Also, are there no more memberships being sold? What can I do?

I'm a guy who loves to just play rec games with my brothers and friends, we don't litter or steal, and I desperately want to show your beautiful course to them.

Still amazed at both the beer and especially the course.

Thanks, please let me know!

It's pay to play but there must be a member in your group. Pretty sure you can still pick up a membership for fifty bucks, try pming don boutin.

Glad to hear you like the course. It is only going to get better. It is a perfect place for it.
There are no more memberships being sold. The owner gave me a lot of money to improove the course and he wanted me to stop with memberships until they figure out how they are going to handle them. I was selling them to build up the course funds. It is a pay to play course. It is not really open to the public yet. They want to wait until I have all of the work done and we have a more secure place for people to sign in and pay. That will happen by early spring. I have not been telling people they cant play,if you and respect the game and the course its all I ask. Just dont go telling everyone it open to the public. I really wanted to keep Hyland a special place and have it a members course but the owner sees he can make money.

Alternate pin placements work will be going on this week. Soon there will be a long and a short pin for every hole.

Im confused by this. I thought you had to be a member or with a member (and pay the additional fee).
Please update my outdated knowledge on this, would love to be able to hit up Hylands on an as-wanted basis if I could

I may be wrong, but I think the enlarged YOU is Wendy saying you Andy, not everyone, can play without a member. She is in essence granting you permission. The Boutin's have that kind of power  . It probably wouldn't hurt to splash the sign in when doing so... the money only helps out with bettering the course, but Boutin^2 should probably make the final call on that.

You are welcome to play the course anytime Andy.
As a matter of fact anyone in NEFA land is now able to play the course. I will not open it to the public yet. Once all of the T signs, boxes and alternate pin locations are in then it will be open to all.
By the way if anyone has some time today and would like to help out on the course Rasta Marc could use some help on 16. I was going to help but I have a leg injury. Very easy work.

Much thanks to Don for allowing NEFA members on the course. I was there today and there are SO many improvements that have been done since I first played it w/ a member over the winter. The place is really getting awesome and 3-4 of the holes are up there with my favorites anywhere!
Played some holes with Rasta Marc. Cool dude and fun to throw with.
Word to the wise. Don't be trying to play there if you don't have a NEFA member's tag or don't sign in and pay. Marc was checking everybody for a tag and checking the cash box/sign in sheet every time. When I was leaving he took off in chase of 2 dudes who we saw playing but hadn't signed in.
What is wrong with people? 5 bucks for an awesome course that needs to pay insurance, pay taxes on the land, and is making/planning steady upgrades to the course. Not a lot to ask.

Anyway, thanks going out to Don and Hyland Orchard owners!

Dave Feldberg will be hosting a free clinic at Hyland on Monday about noon to 2pm. He will show you things that will improve your game for sure. I got lessons from him last year, since then I have shaved 5 to 10 strokes off of my game. Even if you feel like you are a pro, there is still something you will pick up from his clinic that will make a difference.

Reposting the same message from a different thread...in case you don't see that one.

Stop eating Hyland Orchard's apples...seriously.

Chances are your parents taught you that you don't go to the grocery store and eat your share of grapes or apples or anything else without paying for them first...especially when they're priced by weight. Hyland's apples and peaches are no different. Stop grazing when you're playing in the Orchard. You're stealing from the guy who let the course go in. Not to mention, you could become extremely sick if you eat the freshly sprayed apples. Apple picking is for the paying customers. Absolutely NO ONE is entitled to free apples or peaches. The orchard makes a living off their fruit. I'm not making this up--its straight from the famer's mouth! Please end the madness!!!

Got out and tried Hyland Course today with 3 of my buddies. Paid the dues and got out there. We loved the layout of almost all of the holes. We absolutely loved the pitstop at the pavilion on the way to holes 10+.Good music and Beer! Tried their IPA and whatever the H one was lol. Had a blast! Grabbed a Growler of IPA on the way out to enjoy tonight.

Cant wait to play it again sometime!

How early in the day can food and/or beer be purchased?

When does apple picking start?

Does your NEFA tag need to be visible outside your bag or does it just have to be in your posession?
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

A couple changes to the layout at Hyland.
Holes 4 and 5 have been combined into a 540' par 3 downhill shot. It's easier than it sounds. Only a couple of trees remain on the old 4's fairway and most of the trees on 5 are gone. So just clear the ridge where 4's basket was, then throw second shot down the hill. The basket has been pulled out from behind the guardian trees to allow for a bigger green.
A new hole has been completed after hole 11. A 301' uphill shot. After playing hole 11 walk past the big brush pile, turn right and the box can be seen in the cleared out area. Look for white T sign on metal post.
Soon all of the holes will be renumbered. The changes allows us to have a front 9 and a back 9. The front 9 will start at the current hole 11. This will all make sense when the new pro shop/club house is built next to the pavilion.
Enjoy
