Re: 2011/12 Rules/Guidelines
You have to play your female player in singles to get the point. If she wins against the guy, You get a second point.

Re: 2011/12 Rules/Guidelines
What about tie breakers for seeding in the A pool? Since we'll be seeding 1-8, a tie is much more likely somewhere in the middle & could effect who plays for the championship (1-4) vs chumpionship (5-8).
Below is speculation and up to the Commish, but I'd guess tie breakers in order are:
-season record
-head to head
-then what? teams from different coasts (East/West) might have the same record but not have played each other, my guess is point differential, and I'd say point diff over the season since no head to head.
-if still a tie, roshambo or cry on this forum for hours & hours & then flip a disc.
-the USA Ultimate rules have pages & pages of tie breakers, I can look into if it would help
And how many people per team get to play in finals? are we setting a # or will it depend on the # that show?
Thanks Todd & sorry if this is answered on the Captains thread, Uncle Bill has retired from that too and Team Captain Lawrence's current leadership structure is based on the Occupy movement: 90% to agree, tough but fair.
Peace & Love,
Joe

Re: 2011/12 Rules/Guidelines
this may have been voiced before but i am not going to read page after page of posts, unless someone can direct me to where this was solved before...
may i pose an alteration to the rules please commish... the minimum number of players is currently at 8 for a team to play in a match.. if team A shows up with 8 players and team B shows up with say 16 then team B is stuck making hard decisions on how to adjust a game plan on the fly while maintaining good relations with their team which in turn penalizes the team with a full roster.. i propose a few scenarios to alter TC matches...
1. Make roster sizes smaller.. instead of 20 person roster make it 16 with 14 singles and 7 dubz matches
2. Make the minimum number of players for a match higher, say 16 (or if utilizing option 1, 14) and if team A can not fulfill the match requirements then team B recieves the points for the lost matches
3. Mandating that a team must give a 24 hr notice of how many players they will show up with
there may be more options but these are the ones that came to mind

you play to win the game, we rolled with 17 this weekend, Cranbury 10. Yes it sucks people have to sit, some twice, but guess what, the B pool is the one's who constantly wanted to up the roster size and now they see the repercussions... if a person has a problem sitting, oh well. grow a pair, or get better so your not in that position. afterall, that's what it boils down to right.
you can't increase the number of the minimum, we could shrink roster size, but that means next fall will be tougher, b/c teams will be making cuts, permanent ones. We warned everyone about this when people voted for increased roster sizes....
man, I love saying, "I told you so."

its called depth and MOST teams deal with it for various reasons...cuz crews multiply and its not all about being awesome steve tis just how it is nowadays shart is crazy come off the shore sometimes....if not ya should get a penalty cuz the league has evolved to fit the demand for players that wanna particpate and get better and have fun all the things JOE created the league for...the only difference more peeps wanna do it..that is awesome!
some crews have lost touch with their locals...I have as well and plan to change that and increase the DG family ten fold I hope the more we get to participate the more we can educate..thus evolution in the sport

Burgess may have a B squad next year. That's called breeding, not rosters of freaking 50 people.

Devens/Coggs own team
Tully/Barre own team

Petersham own team
Rindge/Keene own team
Charlton woods own team
basically I give it 2 years at most 2 teams then forming 6

Re: 2011/12 Rules/Guidelines
so Brad anyways no frets man
your just at a different place in the DG evolution scale...lots of players but not quite enough for 2 teams..as more courses go into your area...webster,anna,charlton players will adjust and move it happens I used to dread it I really did ya form bonds I know yingling but peeps move on courses go up that better fit players needs,like...so don't be upset embrace it cuz ya never know when you will be back to the evolution stage of trying to find 8 guys who will show..as we have seen it happens...just means us warriors go regroup and continue the next phase
the main thing is peeps gotta understand when the more talented players move up the chain and go to the top team in their area..it happens we all know are skillllz and I personally would want my greater area reped by the top we have to offer..the rest we strive to be better or just have fun along the way.

also, titan, i think you missed my point.. my team has 19 every week.. its not my team that is "on a lower scale of dg evolution".. its others... i have no problem communicating with ppl, as it appears others may.. we keep running into teams that are "shorthanded"... ppl may get the point of getting better because they are the ones to sit but the question still remains, if you have a large squad of 20 players, why is the minimum 8? and why dont teams get penalized for not having enough players to cover a 16 person match?

Re: 2011/12 Rules/Guidelines
The rules of TC overall are pretty simple, basic, and flexible. Yet it seems these rules are hard to follow or need arguments to implement due to the majority of people not knowing the rules. I think if all in TC actually read the rules thread before they have concerns or dislikes we would have less issues overall. More rules equals more stuff people will argue about and not understand.

And for the most part... captains broker outstanding issues like this if they would like, if you would like to know 24 hours before your challenge starts how many the other team has, CALL THEM. Christ, still doesn't mean it's gonna be accurate, I had Cran telling me 13 the night before, then they showed up with 10.. oh well!

naw I know what ya meant was just saying before ya know you could be the squad with 8...as courses are built thinning the pool ect ect
that said I do agree there is no excuse for that low a number...12 should be MIN..and teams should put more efforts into recruiting and breeding players rather the nefa poach approach...as most courses have 100's a week playing nowadays just a matter of developing, finding committed locals..
only maybe 2-4 teams with number issues as they have went through some changes recently and must now adapt...some needed a lil time to adjust
so ya prob won't run into that much I can honestly say it hasn't been an issues to much
not to call noho(may be the team that seems to be the issue) out but I will defend them as they in essence split into two teams..leaving them thin..I think they tried to find players and instead of stressing out just went with their solid VETS(who are all sick for the most part) and focus on finding players in off season this year..they are a TC VET team and for them to still be out there competing is cool

CAN SOMEONE PLAY FOR SEVERAL TC TEAMS???
I have a friend that wanted to play for two different teams, maybe even 3.
Can he?
Get on a CT team.
Start a VT team.
Start a NH team and stay with his current team?
I will take a stab at it and guess the answer will be, NO!!!!!

Well, since the NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL don't allow players to play on different teams at once, and that's what they are basing their "set schedule" on... my guess would be no. I would also vote NO.
