MAJOR WORK DAY PLANNED FOR THE 27th. We can meet at 9 AM at the front gate, if anyone arrives later, just drive down, stay to the rightand you will see my truck parked off to the side of the road, and hear the chainsaw.

Any help would be tremendously appreciated, it is incredibly labor intensive to get a course started. Thanks in advance particularly the guys from Devens!

no worries, I haven't been out there much lately, working in the woods hauling brush or sitting in my boat swimming every 10 minutes, yeah, tough decision, plan to hit it hard again once this heat wave passes.

Hey Rob,

Looking forward to getting out there to work on Saturday. I am gonna push it with the Devens guys this week. Can you let me know what we should bring and what the address is? Any other important info?

Thanks,
Luke

HI Luke,
There is plenty for everyone, Here's what needs to be done
Chainsawing
Brush stacking
Pole sawing
Fairway clearing
Bridge Building
irrigation flowage work

So Chainsaws, pole saws, work gloves and the like. I will need you guys to sign ACOE volunteer waivers but will have some made up ahead of time. Also, I do not recommend wearing shorts, Jeans or logging pants are the way to go, hopefully it won't be scorching out.

Otter Brook is on Route 9 East heading out of keene, technically it is the town of Roxbury
Location: From Keene, East 2 miles on NH 9 to recreation area, we should meet at the gate up top @ 9AM

Luke,
Do you or any of your guys have experience sinking baskets? It may be time to get these bad boys in the ground, I've never done it before and want to make damn sure it is done right, if so, tell me what supplies I need concrete, 5 gallon buckets etc, and I will make sure to have those on hand.

thanks again for the support, when it comes time for Devens to go to work on the new 18 I will absolutely pitch in.

Rob,

I'm not exactly sure how to drop a basket but hopefully someone reading this does can lend a hand or drop some knowledge for us.

I added this info on the Devens Facebook post I just made as well

Talked to Titan today, we are going to get up there later this week and prep for basket installation on Saturday, very cool, of course it is nowhere near champion quality conditions, but maybe with baskets in the ground it will get some play and people will want to make improvements, we'll see.

ACOE DG COURSE KEENE DESIGN GREEN LIGHT WORK SOON

Post by Luke Adolph »

Ok cool, I emailed Rodenhizer because he has a bit of experience but he is out with a knee injury. I thought maybe he could supervise but he will be confined to the couch after visiting a doctor this week.

Hopefully we start getting a few commitments here. Haven't heard much yet

If the satisfaction of giving back to a sport that has provided us with countless hours of enjoyment and fellowship doesn't motivate you, maybe this will. Our good friends at Bagel Works are donating Bagels and Cream Cheese for this workday.

Yeah, that's right, Bagels AND cream cheese, hope to have enough tools to go around for all the workers this is sure to draw.

I'll be there @ 9, gates will be open, just drive down, hole # 3 sleave is ready for cement, all others need pick axe, shovel and maybe dynamite, I was afraid the digging out there was going to be rough, I was not wrong, I will swing by Home Depot in the morning and grab quickrete, what's your verdict on renting a 2 man auger?

Good Move Luke,
I will have a cooler of h20 and snacks as well, weather should be ok, a little warm but not oppressive, I recommend long pants, and boots.

Off to get concrete, Adam is coming today with his saw! #7 is going to get crushed.
He will be around all day tomorrow as well, looks like we might actually have a decent brigade of man beasts and get sh*t done.

No dogs until fall, Hub and Johnny cakes will have to wait a little longer before they get weird.

8 hours later, all the holes for the front 9 are dug, sleeves are in, and cement is forming as we speak. It's fun digging through ledge and boulder.

All system go for tomorrow, got a work beast driving up from Rhode Island to help out, a few solid guys from Devens, a couple of the Tully Crew, please consider coming by and throwing a few hours towards this effort.

rob

james, his son and I will be there by 10am..we only have a few hours...I wanna get all the baskets to proper spots and assembled

glad we did all the prep work today..the digging I gotta admit was far from worst I have ever seen...

so if your rising to bagels early start trucking baskets to access points along road ala 1,3,4's green and we will revert to that task when we arrive..

also the dead trees marked around 8's green drop em before we get basket installed kinda close for damage issues...

TM,adam and you can crush cut 7 and the rest can haul brush, pole saw, bring benches out,drainage/brook cleaning

also in near future new signage with new task list will help...staples for cheap will laminate..till ACOE gets official signs

dereks task list DG Course review/pdga listing, tourney fall date,KDGC logo/disc inquiry, specs from rangers on signs, league date/time...just to archive that for reference

also maybe any Keene DGC members who write hit all the keene media sites for otter brook/dg in general for Keene...with a lil write up

organize all pictures of before/after fairways for viewing on sites, list of all who helped for future reference

flag any questionable trees for 3rd and final cut I guess as well

just getting a punch list of to do's written down to clense the brain..lol

cya in AM.

adam, you and me crushed it today
