Les,
I always like to see how others approach a hole; I can learn from "a different pair of eyes" because I only have 2 and sometimes THEY don't even work that well. I'm going to review your "viewings / thought processes" and see (no pun intended) if I can get a different perspective on how to play the holes. Thanks.

No problem. It was good to think it through anyway.

A good perspective lesson.

Anyone else feel like going through the hole by hole perspective exercise?

Cross Farms
1.....RHBH hyzer hot
2.....either
3.....RHBH straight putter shot(same shot lefty)
4....lefty or flick
5.....lefty or RHBH slow right turning buzz shot
6.....RHBH
7.....RHBH...favors a flex shot for righty(easier to lay up lefty)
8.....could be either(better route throwing a lefty flex shot)
9......RHBH spike hyzer
10....either, straight buzz shot
11....RHBH Hyzer
12....favors long lefty flex shot or plow through the woods righty
13....either, hard turning left but best drives I've seen have been RHFH anny flick with stable disc
14....favors lefty or RHFH
15....lefty
16....lefty
17....lefty
18....favors righty

Maybe 5 strongly favored righty and 6 or 7 lefty (imo)

I'm thinking of having an informal tournement with cash payout only, sometime in November, however, there is a little last work that needs to be done to finalize the course for the year.

We need to work on the teeboxes a bit before I can set the map, announce the course as open officially, yada yada.

I would like to have one final workday to rake the teeboxes flat and install rock tee lines. Since the park people didn't finish our teeboxes as they said they would, I figure we can make the teeboxes good enough for our own use. I can then make a permanent map, etc. I am currently shooting for a workday around the first weekend in November with the tournement near thanksgiving.

Is anyone in ? Are there any issues ? Comments ?

I have a possible conflict watching my son run in the State Cross Country Championships, one of those OTHER events they hold at Wickham. I'm not sure if it's that weekend or not but otherwise I'll be happy to help.

just a heads-up, last I knew HERO was planning to host the Wild Turkey Flip-Out again this year, which if years past is any indication would be thanksgiving weekend.

Good heads up. I'll try to pick the weekend either before or after. whichever makes the most sense. Or - if he flips out on one day, maybe we pick another in the same weekend. After all it is a four day weekend for most. Sound good ??

Hero is shooting for an earlier date. Like the first two weekend in November.

Thanksgiving weekend or on that Friday would be sweet.

If that is the case then I'll try to tourney on the saturday after T-giving. Which puts the workday on Nov. 11 and the Tourney on the 25th.

Can people live with this Y/N ?

The workday would be fairly light as workdays go with the emphasis on playing later in the day. I will provide a frosty case of my famous Arch Amber to slake the thirst of all who help out (now on sale at a pkg. store near you).

The Tourney would be Open/Pro, Am, Am2 and Masters divisions only. Women can fit into any division they like. Let's set the entry at $25- Open, $15- all other divisions. Cash payout to top spots based on participation. 54 Entries MAX (first come first serve)!! I will TD with help probably from ID and any others who care. Bring lunch and Beer (or whatever you care to imbibe), 45 minute lunch. Given daylight hours at this time of year we will play One round of 18 in the AM then play an additional Safari 9 to finish (TBD). Players meeting at 9:00 AM sharp.

If I get a favorable response to this, I will post it up further.

Comments Please !!! :P :P

I have re-thought on the second round Safari.

Originally I had said top 12 from each division moves on after the opening 18, however the math doesn't work. There would be too many people on each hole. So, I have decided that only the top nine (9) will move on. This puts four (4) people on each of nine safari holes.

Remaining players will have the chance to compete in a new game we are working on. If I can make a shout out for people to bring baskets. We will be setting up an alternate course with special rules for those that don't make the cut.

I've heard 52 a couple of times now. I think that is the best score so far. If anyone has shot a better score, please feel free to post it here.

I suspect that the tournament might give us a new low score, especially since we are heading into the leafless season.

My best is a (Arrow-only) 59 last weekend (present configuration), including my first 2 on 2. Think I've run out of holes I can deuce (have bagged 1, 2, 3, old 9, 11, 15, and 16) considering I can't throw the thing more than ~230 feet...and there are plenty of opportunities to get 4's out there to erase those birdies. I may have to break out an Epic or deux and see what I can muster up!

I've just moved up to CT from Ohio and I really like the course, especially considering its proximity to UConn. There are a couple of concerns I have though.

Are the tee boxes going to be cleared? I have enough trouble with my footwork without worrying about spraining my ankle on a rock or tree root.

I also think the course could be marked a little better, (which flat tee boxes would help). There were a couple of times that I had to search in a couple directions because I couldn't figure out which direction the pin was from the chicken sign.

I really like how the course makes me use a lot of throws that I never had to use on the flatter courses of northern ohio and the trees make an added challenge. I shot a 63 on my first time out which I thought was ok for the first time on this course.

--Allen

P.S. Is someone who knows the dimensions of the course better going to post the course on the PDGA.com course directory. That is where I always go to find courses when I'm in a new area and it is not posted on there yet.
