How about reversing the mentality here? Listen to the opinions of the people that voted you in. Give them a shot and if they are wrong then change it next year.If it doesnt work out well then next year we can change it. I believe that this will be good for the masses and hope that people will trust me. that is why I was elected in the first place, was it not?

NY = 32

VT = 22
Oregon = 2
Total = 487
80% of the 2012 Final participants and Points series Winners were from Mass. The proposed 2013 allocation is an attempt to sustain/grow/save NEFA outside of Mass.
I'm not a MA resident so this really doesn't matter to me but I wanted to give an opinion. Trent you should have some more qualifiers. Maybe not all as many are suggesting but more than the 10 you have planned. Here in NY/NJ we are doing 6 for the 45 members that the plans were based on. MA had 260 members last year I think you should be up to at least a dozen qualifiers 15 probably better. And with some events already filled you should be picking events that registration hasn't opened up yet for just to be fair and let your members have a fair chance to sign up with the knowledge that it's gonna be a qualifier. (Sorry Devens)

Re: MA NEDGC qualifiers
I've changed my opinion and agree that we should include all Mass NEFA tourneys as qualifiers. 10 isn't enough, and if you go to 14-15...might as well go all the way. There were only 18 NEFA events in Mass last year. Leaving 4 or 5 out is just a slap in the face to those events. Maybe we could even fill Bosquet this year.

I didn't look at how many nefa events there were in MA last year if there was only 18 then yes I agree that leaving some out would be a slap in the face. I presumed there was like 25-30. I think the ball has been dropped a bit with the timeliness of the decision making process. As Devens has filled already without it being declared a qualifier. Not a big deal but it should be declared a qualifier before reg opens. No fault of Devens crew.

I'd be pretty upset if more tournaments became qualifiers and Devens wasn't considered because it went on sale before this series was ironed out. We fill out a region on the map & have an overwhelming # of current nefa members playing. We should be considered just as every other event would be. I'm not even sure if the list of events was posted online before our registration began.

Devens haters, whatever. Is this going to be rotated year to year? I mean if you need 4, having your home course as one of those picked is a pretty big advantage and a pretty big disadvantage for home courses not picked.

Re: MA NEDGC qualifiers
I agree with Luke. I think most of the people who signed up for Devens thought it was a qualifier to begin with and I'm willing to bet there are some in it that don't even realize it isn't a qualifier right now. Luke I'm pretty sure the qualifiers were posted AFTER your registration opened.

It's being worked out as we type. Looking like all NEFA events in a region will get used. I think devens should get included regardless of when registration opened.

Not a Devens hater just think that in fairness that players should be aware that an event is a qualifier before registration opens (or at least before the event fills) to allow a fair opportunity for all to register. Again no fault of the Devens crew. Sorry Luke just trying to give an opinion based on fairness.

No problem, I am sure it will work out fine. I'd agree with you if the dates were already set when devens reg opened.

That wasnt directed at you Kenji in anyway. Its a little telling though. Honestly as long as it rotates year to year then its fair.

Re: MA NEDGC qualifiers
As Matt posted, the NEDGC committee just voted to allow all NEFA events in a region to count for regional qualifier. All regions except MA will be using best of 3. MA will be best of four.

Matt's post says all nefa events count for ALL regions
Greg's post says all events within a region count for that region.
I am guessing Greg's is the more accurate description? Could you please clarify? Thanks!

Re: MA NEDGC qualifiers
I like what NEFA is trying to do with Finals. Now with all events being accepted for each region they aren't qualifiers. It is basically another point series inside a point series.
Is it manditory that you have to play the minimum amount of regional events to qualify for finals? Like can you play 2 regional and 4 outside the region or 3 and 3 and finish good in the regular point standings and still make it in?

Re: MA NEDGC qualifiers
You are a MA resident, so you will be competing for an invite against other MA players. The NEFA points events in MA will be used as the qualifier tournaments, and it will be the top 4 for each player to determine invites. You cannot use NEFA points events from other regions to count towards the NEDGC invites, however, ALL NEFA events will still give you points towards the season standings. Which again, accounts for 60% of the money raised over the course of the season. There is still a large incentive for people to continue to play outside their region.
