2013 NEDGC MA Invite List

Post by ira divoll »

Pete, MA definitely gets the shaft in terms of declaring where to qualify. None of my tournaments in NH, VT, or RI are applicable to qualifying in MA, and because I am from MA, I am not allowed to declare for any other state.

I am pretty disappointed in how this works this year.

not mention its only 9 days away, and from my count there are only 70ish AMs with open invites/accepted.

A total of 90 AMs will get invites. 78 AMs got invites from the regions (not including Maine which is MIA). I believe the plan is to give any/all remaining spots to the players based on the NEFA points standings. This was mentioned in the NEDGC info thread I think.

great to hear. Are you still holding spots for Maine? it looks to be down to 73 with people who have declined, when can we expect those 17 to be invited? And is there a deadline to accept/decline after which others will be invited, or if we're on the bubble do we just show up in the AM?

Last I knew, the Maine rep was working it, but I also heard that the payment would be made for the fees. I have not received confirmation that either of these things happened, however, so I don't know what to tell you with that regard. As far as available spots for allocation and timeframe, I will ask the NEDGC committee group and find out when we can expect the invites to trickle down (I'm part of that trickle down list)!

You are currently 18th on the list. You might make it in once they re-allocate unclaimed spots. Other than that there are too many AM1's that have already claimed their spots for you to bump up.

Do you know if any MM1 spots may be added? I noticed the other states had a couple or few and Mass just one. Just curious.

maybe. the percentage of MM1 that qualified was very low compared to AM1 and AM2 who had the highest qualification rates

i noticed that as well James...and I actually thought of you

I pondered and I bet the reason is(well besides that the entire invite system is crap)
Is that the other states had bigger fields of the division then MA...I can think of a few outside MA events that annually host large fields from that particular division...heck NH states is like the world series of old ams(lol)

Question how many events did you play total this year James? just curious

I personally think if open invites are available...and everything is up to the PTB to decide why not allocate based on cool things..like most events played in season on waitlist/lowest nefa number...etc etc

I better go before the fingers develop a rant

I played in seven, but I guess the maine one doesn't count. I did mix it up though and play in VT, NH, CT, as well as Mass. Again, not to make a big todo, was just wondering what my chances were so I knew to make other plans or to hold out hope

Can't say I was too excited until I started browsing the thread. I love finals. I'll definitely be there. Chris Barden in Am1 will be attending as well, he asked me to confirm for him cuz he sucks with computers.

Did you hear anything? What would really help would be for whoever is running this thing to crunch the numbers to find out how many open spots there are, trickle down more invites, and then create a division agnostic waitlist. And of course a deadline for people to accept, unless they just plan to allow people to show up to claim their spot, which would probably create a pretty hectic waitlist scenario the morning of the event.
