Karl,
Didn't see any message. Maybe you sent it to "Jason Ballard". I go by "Jay" here to avoid confusion with the other one...
I'm like the Lebron James of disc golf...except for, you know, that whole being a giant douche thing.

Re: Gardner DGC 2015 MEETING@CITYHALL 930am 6/29/15
So, I sent an email direct to the Mayor with concerns on the progression or lack there of and the lost communication chain along the road
this was the response
I need help sorting these issues out and getting another formal proposal to the contact for final permissions
In regards to the last paragraph I sensed a "dig" would be thrown as I did go over their heads straight to mayor....and in all reality they were suppose to get back to us with the summarized concerns/issues that need to be sorted out....they also seem to not realize this is a volunteer effort and it was never communicated that we would need to go through countless hoops and layers of civics
edit..gov officials elected and paid are suppose to work for the people? so strange that they could not hash out these issues instead want it hand fed...for the greater good of DG I don't mind continuing with this but will need some help to ensure a calm constructive mindset remains
Thanks
this was the response
Titan,
The Mayor forwarded your message below and I wanted to follow up with you regarding some of your concerns. It has been a while since our Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting and the emails we exchanged in late June/early July. Although I believe we had addressed most if not all of your questions the last time we exchanged emails, there are still some outstanding items/concerns that need to be addressed as outlined below.
To initiate your ability to enter onto the land I would recommend forwarding a formal request to the Director of Public Works, Dane Arnold, for permission to do so (Mr. Arnold oversees the City Forest land). You may want to have a discussion with Dane prior to determine what he needs you to include in the request. Based on a number of factors Dane will determine whether to grant your request or not. If your request is granted he will then have to determine how the use will be managed once the course is in operation. The city will have to take into consideration many factors as the project proceeds, many of which you are already aware of as a result of the DRC meeting last year. They include insurance coverage and most notably the concern over access to the site from State Route 140. The Traffic Commission will take this up for discussion at its meeting later this month.
My understanding is you cannot collect fees to the use of the site, you cannot put private business signs on public property, you must address Massachusetts AAB Regulations or supply sufficient information as to why this is not needed, and baskets need to be free-standing and cannot be directly affixed to trees (unless there is a way of doing so without damaging the tree). I have attached the meeting minutes of the June DRC meeting for your information. I apologize if I failed to send these to you after the meeting.
Please note that this is a first of its kind project for the City so there are certain “bugs” that need to be worked out through this process and your patience is greatly appreciated. With that said, in order to keep this project moving forward if so desired and if access is granted, I would respectfully recommend you contact the City regularly. Contacting the City once every six months is not an effective way to emphasize a priority project and ensure its successful implementation.
Thanks, Trevor

Re: Gardner DGC 2015 MEETING@CITYHALL 930am 6/29/15
Finally making some progress with the city officials and getting to the bottom of issues/concerns
The actual person who grants permission for this land is public works dept, he has no issues with a DG course on land...the issue is traffic from RT 140
he suggested using another access point via Eaton or Clark street on back side of Forest
Also down road from current parking lot off of rt 140 another street provides access to the other side of forest.
What is the name of that street?
Jay Ballard,
I need the name of that street from RT 140 down the road from current area
I will be making a trip down to determine if the new access points proposed will work from a DG design perspective soon
stay tuned

Eaton street looks promising from google earth views
Clark street has some potential but residents may create another issue
Old County road may be possible
we will scout all these prob this weekend and determine what is best to propose from a DG design prospective and start from there with City

The traffic commission meeting is scheduled for 1/19 @ 1pm police station
open to the public but is secure building so they will need to know who is attending
yeaaah my Bday and I shall be at a meeting in a police station, can't say that is the first time at a police station on my Bday but this time at least it is voluntary
looking for a role mate, not going to be speaking much but would like to hear the thought process and conclusions, to know if we are going with another access point
the great news is this course will be coming to Gardner at the City Forest, where IDK, when IDK
but all parties are for DGC in Gardner and they are just making us cross every t and dot every I, sometimes it is better that way...just takes waaaaaaay longer
I never ask for a TY for doing course work, but this one yeah I want wet handies fromyou locals in gardner everytime I visit lol

Re: Gardner DGC 2015 Awaiting Date for Next DRC meeting FEB/201
The city has offered up an alt piece of land set to be timber harvested this summeror next winter at the end of Stone St.
We are waiting the date for the City DRC meeting for mid feb 2016 to discuss the parking options at current plot of land and potential of waiting to use the next parcel of land set to be harvested with the intentions of DG going in afterwards addressing the parking, etc
thoughts....they become things sometimes it just takes a lot of time
when I see a basket in ground at Gardner it is going to be a life accomplishment and I would request it is stated on my grave stone
stay tuned...the good fight continues
