Best courses in New England

Also the place for aces, near aces, beautiful birdies and enormous eagles.

Are there any other good courses in Maine?

We went on a little mini tour of Maine courses this weekend and accidentally stumbled upon Sabattus.

We were in awe of course and put it right up there with Maple, Borderland, Calais and Wickham as best courses in New England. It certainly was the best course we've played in Maine..easily.

It seemed fairly new and perhaps a bit shiny but overall class!

Why isn't there more mention/pub about this place??

Sabattus is a gem. It will host the first Maine Players Tour finals(as voted by the players). Lots of talk about Sabattus and the rest of the MPT courses on the website. http://www.mainediscgolfers.com What other courses did you get to play?

Bangor
BAP Gorham
Beauty
Beast
Dragan
Sabattus

Heard great things about Cranbury and think we might hit this with an encore to Sabattus as well..

Checked out results for the Hawk course on mainediscgolfers.com (btw why isn't there a comprehensive disc golf site for Maine? mainediscgolf.com vs maindiscgolfers?? wtf??) Anyway, is the current layout at Sabattus Hawk or Eagle? Which is a tougher course? We're trying to tabulate relative pars..

Thanks!

Glad to see some southern NE DGers make their way north.
Yes, the snow has finally melted,
actually didn't get a whole lot this year.

I think that there are two comprehensive sites for DG in Maine
and don't really see the vs.
there are two independant point series (MCS/MPT)
supported by two different sites, that is all.
the community of disc in Maine
is expanding rapidly with new courses
and seasoned ones linking up to meet the demand.
The MCS has been running for many years
and continues to see numbers at each tourney increase
and the MPT in its first season has set tourney attendance records
at all three of its hosting sites.

Anyway, is the current layout at Sabattus Hawk or Eagle?

They are actually two completely different 18 hole layouts.
If you recall there are two tees right in front of the clubhouse
one heading left and one right. the left course is the hawk
and the right is the eagle. The eagle is IMO much more difficult
and most scores reflect that. The Hawk finishes rather easy
after only a few longer tight holes in the woods, where the eagle requires
that type of length and accuracy throughout.

Lowest score on the Eagle I think is a 56...maybe Daryl has a 54

I'm sure there's a few high 40's scores on the Hawk.
