Meh, who knows. Hit up Acker's Acres instead. Much warmer over there any time of the year.

Or, do you want to possibly run into COURSE PRO TOM PERRY!!!!

PJ DAN wrote:Is this place still open? I know when I was in Maine earlier this year (jan or feb) they were closed. Im hoping to go play on Monday or Tuesday next week....I know they have a number so Ill call it eventually...just being lazy I guess...

My intel is that they're still open weekends, but weekdays are hit or miss. There has definitely been an uptick in the number of "frustrated after driving to Sabattus and finding it closed" players here at Dragan Field the last few weeks...always a sign of the coming winter around here. A phone call would probably be the best way to know for sure, though.

Don't feel bad, Matt. No one in Maine has heard of him either. Methinks Mr. Bouffard's NMD 301 professor graded his project on its technique rather than the accuracy or truth of its content. It certainly is a solid production, even if it is a work of fiction.

Finally got the chance to play this course, and it was incredible. Everything was buttoned up and well done.

Multiple courses with varying degrees of difficulty, great signage, seating areas and trash cans everywhere, stone pathways that really blended in well, well maintained throughout, and a great pro shop.

I grew up playing Enman Field a lot in Brunswick, but after moving to Western Mass, haven't had the chance to play many up in Maine. GREAT times with friends, and I look forward to going back in the future.

I have been meaning to ask one important question about one hole at Sabattus that got a lot of us (deaf players few years ago) into a heated argument.

It's Hawk #7 which you can see the #7 basket on your right from the tee. There's creek/OB from the basket to the tee.

The issue is there's no mando marked there. So, some of us were able to shoot from the right side of the tee to clear across the creek stream (easy birdie) and while some of them shoots normally uphill to the right (solid par 4) as the course map stated.

The TD who were not familiar with this course's rules were at lost and many players thinks that those who took "shortcuts" should be penalized. Only one local player claimed that it is okay to shoot short cut because there's no mando sign on that hole. One experienced player disagreed and stated that discs should come out directly where the tee are pointed at.

So, to settle the argument, I went to the shop and there's only two women working there (on busy Saturday). I asked them about that hole's rule and they are clueless about it. So, we are left with dismayed question hanging over our heads for years.

I hope that #7 sign will say "Yes, you can throw across the creek" or "No, you can't shoot it from here".

Have any of you faced that issue on that hole before??

No marked mando = no mando. You can play along the creek bed. It's not as though they don't know what a mando is over there, since there's a well marked one on the Eagle. At this point, if they haven't put one in, they probably don't care if people play the creek bed.

They don't run any formal tournaments over there, so I don't think they have anyone on staff who is all that tournament rules knowledgeable to consider these kinds of things. Doesn't seem to be a hindrance, though.

Thank you and I agree with you too!! :)

Got birdie on that hole by taking the "short-cut" route. Very risky but rewarding!! 8-)

I have. I'm sure I mentioned that it was simple lack of opportunity why I hadn't...not a lot of time to get out and play, and when I could play, it's hard to resist the course in the backyard. Finally got an opportunity last summer and enjoyed it, the ace didn't hurt. :thumleft:

Sabattus now has a third course its called the falcon they put a second basket location for the eagle so its a lot easier. good news they installed mach x baskets on the eagle so even more reason why this is one of the best courses in the state
