New course locations suggestions

Also the place for aces, near aces, beautiful birdies and enormous eagles.

There is base approval at Mansfield Hollow currently. Of course funding is needed.
Also, how about Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union? Huge tract of land with multiple ponds, hills, you name it.

Is there anything that can be done whilst waiting for funding? Like going around and surveying areas for holes and stuff? I'd be more than willing to help out.

K-town was where I started playing Frisbee golf back in 1993. A friend set up an object coures that we use to play with lids all the time.

Then out of the blue he suggested we drive to Borderland State park and take part in a disc golf tournament. We showed up with our lids and were given an 86 softie and a Panther. We had a blast playing with real golf discs and actually took the rec. div. down (not sure how many rec. players were playing)

Been part of the scene ever since.

For a blast from the past, my brother and I will play the old K-town course, him with a lid and me with a xd or storm. The holes are definitely too short for drivers or a bag full of discs.

Thanks for sparking the memory.

how about Waterford CT?

Post by phykos »

Good omen to see this thread pop back up! By amazing coincidence, I'm making a pitch to Waterford Rec & Parks next week, to try to get a course here in town. I'm proposing Stenger Farm Park (~95 acres, not much elevation, but a couple of ponds, lots of woods, lots of open space, pretty good trail system, really underutilized). Also a lot of poison ivy and some soggy spots, but I see potential. If it looks like it may go somewhere, I'll be hitting this forum for advice and maybe some manual labor. I'll keep you posted - wish me luck!

what's the word on callahan park in framingham/marlboro? that would be a great location. we are in desperate need for a course closer to boston. burlington just doesn't do it for me. i guess all the motivated doers live out near worcester. boston needs a jason southwick like figure to start writing letters and cutting in some fairways...
