What is the format?

9 to a team 12 hole match play 1 point to each win

six teams in two divisions

Entry fee is $40 per player. (First and second in each division, first and second overall, individuals with best record per seeding per division.)

Tee time will be 10:00 on Saturday and 9:00 on Sunday. Format will be the same as last year with divisional play followed by 2 teams from each division in playoffs. Tie breakers are head to head first followed by total individual wins, and thirdly holes remaining in individual wins.

so a few of us were talking at tully the other day about maybe having an ace pot for each team challege.

i think its a good idea for next year.

and if no one gets an ace it could be a CTP at the finals.

FINALS QUESTION:

Here's what I am thinking off the bat. Obviously, we can't have 15 people per team competing in Finals. 120 people.. haha.. yeah right. SO!

Here is what I have come up with, in conjunction with Todd.

The Teams that finish 1/2 will have the option of using their entire team. 15 roster spots.

Teams that finish 3/4/5 will have the option of using 12 of their roster per round.

Teams that are 6/7/8 will only be able to use 10 per round.

SORRY to the B pool teams, you'll be slotted in at 7/8.

If teams still use thier full allotment this puts 96 players out on the course at one time. As teams dont use slots. The spots will be filled by teams in a descending order. i.e.

Utopia only has 14 players, thus they won't use thier 15th slot. That slot will be passed to the next team in line for usage, if they don't use it, it'll be passed on.

Other than that, does anyone else have any other bright ideas? I can't really think of how to make this fairer. The teams that finish the best should get the advantage if there is one to be had.

OR some variation of this. Something has to be done, we can't have 120 people on the course.

You could at J-Park. 120 divided by 5-somes = 24 holes, with 3 strategically placed empty holes. Daylight not an issue ....... looks like the clocks "spring forward" on March 14th 2010

Mar 20, 2010 - Sunrise 6:57 AM - Sunset 7:07 PM
Mar 27, 2010 - Sunrise 6:46 AM - Sunset 7:15 PM

Neutral location for the NEFA Super Bowl ?

Sorry. Going to venture and say no. Too far away for most of the teams that will likely be eligible for finals.. i.e. Burgess, Maine, etc.

Yeah, but in order to realistically determine a champ. you have to play ALL the holes on the SAME layout.

I see what your saying now.. start 60 on one layout, 60 on the other.. this could work, now I just need 2 courses real close to eachother.

Anyone else got any other ideas? I think this is the only idea that'll work and reward the top teams in our league. That's just me though.

Newton hill is a great equalizer. It forces you to play outside of your normal golf, due to the extreme elevation changes. And it's relatively close to Pyramids and Maple Hill. Do one at Newton and One on the Blues. That would be the ultimate challenging golf. 8-)

I dont see how its a great equalizer. I like the course, but I don't believe that locals wouldn't have a huge advantage. Its not Maple Hill.

Its a brand new course that is entirely wooded with little to no OB. Its a well designed course for sure, but calling it a great equalizer would be like calling Devens a great equalizer. Good course, but not an equalizer.

My opinion, of course.

Two courses are def. the way to go. Solbo and I talked about it yesterday and today, and I'm pretty sure that's what he's going to go with.

Good point Cheef. Newton does force you to play shots you don't normally have on any other course. I agree there is not OB per say, but there isn't a whole lot of room for mistakes. If you miscue on a few of those hole you can end up adding quite a few strokes to your score.

I thought the team "Utopia" with the best record gets to pick where finals will be held...
And what advantage does the best record get..... a buy or something like that???? Or the 2 teams with best record should get rewarded somehow!

Last year the first place team picked the location. I think that Solbo said you guys would get more players in the finals this year as your reward.
Cranberry would be a sweet spot for the finals, though.

I'll let you pick the finals location, as long as it rhymes with staple mill and mirror mids.

Only way I can get all 120 players to be able to play at finals.

Here's the other thing. The top 4 teams will be "playing" each other, i.e. they'll be at Pyramids and Maple Hill together. While the other 4 will be on the opposite course.

Also. The 2 teams that come in out of the B Pool will be #7 and #8. Okie dokie?

Not sure if I understand Prez...
I dont see any advantage for best record.
Whats the point to go undefeated if your not rewarded?
In that case, STRONG teams can just coast through and not even field their whole team 8-)
Last year we got the right to pick......Y the change
