Why would you put the first set of Doubles Finals sooooo far away from the "center" of NEFA? Don't you want to see if this thing will get off the ground first?

I'd aim central for atleast the first year... my .02 cents. I'd also make the end of the season earlier, with the Singles NEFA Tourney season really kicking off in March, I'd end it there... remember you also have Team Challenge that runs during the Ice Bowl Season... thus you really are starting to fill up weekends during the winter...

just some things to think about.

I think the poll is kinda skewed.
I think most would play in a 2X NEFA event.
The question is, do you think the 2X NEFA event is a good thing.
I'm not advocating either way. Just sayin'...........

Titan is talking about a "Doubles" Points Series. Not "Double Points" Series.

yes the Jpark finals is to far I tend to agree and with Jeff hosting 2 events might be a bit much for him so Ma will prob be the finals location for trial year.

also solbo I plan to piggy back some already set in stone every year events so that will help keep scheduling a little easier.

Look we have NY,MA,NH,CTMe on board and planning once VT is on board we can statrt future planning.

I think may is a bit to long but to get the goal of 12 events 2 per state its gonna have to be that way. should not interfere with singles and team challenge all that much.

J-Park Ice Bowl is always the weekend after the Super Bowl. Making it a dubs event could be a possibility. Get the divisional issues squared away and then we'll talk.

If you wanna keep it simple:
Pro/Pro
Pro/Am
Am/Am
Mixed(male/female)

division's is my true main concern other then data input.

need a fair simple division list that won't give TD's fits

thinking we need a division for the older crowd and a only ladies team.

is the pro/am really needed. not saying I think it is butwould like to hear comments on that.

my goal was 5 or less so td's can still have creative control and less work

That's pretty cool...I like that idea.

Divisions - keep it simple. Pro/Pro, Am/Am, Rec/Rec, Mixed

Have you decided on if it's going to be a "random" thing, or people pick their doubles partner for the whole season?

Personally I'm just not that big a fan of doubles.
That aside, scheduling will be very tough IMO, even in March there is hardly time.

Obviously a lot of good ideas (none really "better" than the other). Just a few thoughts...

DG (now) is "fraction'd up" via pro vs. am, both genders, ratings / ability breakpoints, and different age groups. This causes wicked headaches when "trying to do everything for everyone" (placate all the individual-type pundits) and most of the time makes any 1 group small.

And since there will probably be a LOT of "combination teams" (Int & GM, Woman & 970-rated, etc.), why not make it "as simple as possible"?

Pick 1 or 2 of them only.

If pro vs. am is REALLY important to you, go with that. If not, get rid of it. If men vs. women is important, fine. If not, it's not absolutely necessary to have it, is it? If you're big on the "age thing", split into age catagories; if not, lump everyone into 1 age! Etc.

If your goal is to really try to have "equal players play together" then 'abilities' - while a bit subjective - is key. If it's to "have fun", then most any team goes!

Things to remember:
Two "lower" pros are worse than two really good ams.
How do you "pigeonhole" (if you're using the "better shot format") a REALLY good player and a substantially lesser player?

It can be done a myriad of ways. Just make it easy on yourself. Think "simple".

yes Simple is the goal.

The idea is to be a Fun series so mixed and age protected would be more of a priority then pro/am to me if you are a good Am paired with a pro then play pro. or step down if the Am is of newer skill level and play Am,mixed ect..

thanks for the input Karl and your right not everyone will be happy but as long as the majority is to start I think it will work

Have you decided on if it's going to be a "random" thing, or people pick their doubles partner for the whole season?

the idea is not to have random doubles but to have preset teams. Yes your teammate may change fine if you want to work with 3 teammates I don't care. Just remember you need 3 events to qualify for "finals" and then your choice on who ya play with at finals.

That aside, scheduling will be very tough IMO, even in March there is hardly time.

I have tried to piggy back as many events as possible to not create more tourney's in an already busy disc golf world.

Only new events in states like NH,VT where every new event should be held as a blessing rather then a burden.

the busy area's MA.CT,NY have mostly been piggybacked.

I think the season will be changed to last week in Oct to only 1 event in may and then finals

Mr Newman has offered to make his end of Oct dubz event sanctioned

That will help with scheduling huge for singles finals is earlier in Oct this year so 5 of the 12 events will be completed before the new year

that only leaves 7 events from Jan to May 4 of those events are already preexisting tourney's

well things seems to be going smoothly and scheduling is coming along great.

If you need three events to qualify for finals, and you play with three different people during the season, does your partner also need three events to qualify?

yes, not saying that is the route people should be going but if they wanted to they can.

12 events that's minimum 3 events for "finals" if you wanted... you could in theory play with 4 different partners and get 3 events with each then chose your partner at "finals" makes no sense to but you could.

leaves room for injury, partner moves ect ect ect... obv if any of those happened it would suck but at least your partner is not "set in stone" so you could still find a new one and get 3 events in for "finals"

but yes both you and your partner must play 3 events as a team to qualify not 3 different events.

How many people do you think will end up as be qualified at the end of the series? My guess is 5-10 teams total across whatever divisions you decide on.

Not saying that it won't work, but maybe starting it as a state series and expanding might lead to greater long term success.

My lowest estimation 5-10 teams per state minimum so that is app: 60 people or 30 teams

for all you non believers this will be BIG and the year after even bigger.

My guess is there will be trouble fitting all qualified teams on 1 course for "Finals"
so we might even have to go to "TOP" teams in each division

Hey Titan, just checking out this thread for the first time in a while ... are you still looking at Memorial weekend for a potential finals date? That might be a tough date for a finals ... schedule looks great though.
