Hole 9 is cleared of trees. There may be a few more but we will wait to see how the hole plays first. The clean up from cutting down about 80 trees will take a couple of days. Since Hyland is a farm I will still be able to burn all of the brush. Looks like Wednesday is going to be the day for that since it will be raining.
Hole 8 has two big picker bushes and one dead tree left to clear. One big burn pile there and that hole is done.
Next up hole 12 and 13. A few days of cutting and burning on these holes. Hole 14 does not need any trees cut, just some bushes to pull out and remove pickers from the green. Hole 15 needs three apple trees cut and that hole is good.
The course will be playable after all that. It will be a little rough in the beginning but it always takes time to make new holes clean.
Thanks JD for driving the hour to come help yesterday. Bringing his chainsaw made the work on hole 9 go allot quicker. The cutting went pretty smooth, except for one tree that just did not want to fall.
Today and tomorrow after work stacking brush into burn piles so burning can happen on Wednesday. Help out if you can.

I am looking for all the help I can get on Saturday. A chainsaw would be really helpful. There is still plenty of trees to cut down. I have been hacking away at them, but I had to slow down due to a hurt shoulder. I must have hurt it trying to yank down a tree that was stuck in some vines.
Need help moving branches to burn pile, leveling Tee box areas, pole sawing higher branches. I have pole saw.
Thanks

I'm still trying to figure this out. It costs 30 bucks to play all year, but if you only play once it costs 2 dollars with a member or 5 without? And you can't visit without a member? I have a bunch of friends who want to play, but I'd love to be able to explain how the paying goes.

As I understand the post. A member can bring up to 3 extra players for casual rounds for $5 a head and to league for $2 a head.

That is correct Ditter. A member will be allowed to bring 3 guests, the guest will pay $5. The member will be responsible for their guests and must play on the same card. During league any non member can show up and pay just $2 to the course and $5 for league.
Hyland will be a members only course . This is just a way to let other people play the course to see if they would like to become members.

Is the course up and running now? Have not heard much about it lately. I am a lifelong member. What do I do to play? Do I sign in or how does it work?

Thanks

The course is not complete yet. Probably another week before the baskets can go in. Then there is a lot of mowing to do. I hope to have it open after the forth of July. We will have a grand opening. Everyone will be able to play that day. Members will get there package. Once the course is open, you just show up, sign in and play.
You must have your membership tag with at all times when on the course.

Hole 11 reborn. If you played PMC Doubles last year then you remember hole 11. The hole after the pavilion with the monster picker bushes. It seemed like a good hole, just clear the bushes and you had a chance at a long duece. I was amazed at how many discs were lost in those bushes.
I spent all day yesterday on that hole. There are no more picker bushes. There was an old apple tree on the left, at the far edge of the bushes. I didn't even know it was there. It's gone also, the bushes were wrapped around it so much, it was easier to take the whole mess. Anything on that hole that could hide a disc is gone. I knew there was a good hole there somewhere just had to find it.

Am I correct in saying that anyone will be able to play on the grand opening? So if I was considering becoming a member I could play a round that day and decide if I would like to join?

Course work has come to a stand still. Most of the hard work is done. Working outside all day in this heat has made it tough to want to go and do more. I am doing my best to get this place open. Some weed whacking, mowing, tee box work and baskets installation is whats left to make it playable.

Thanks Bear!
The course has went through some changes. First 6 holes stayed the same, but they did get some more cleaning. 7 now goes to 8 basket all the way to end of the field. The walking path to old 9 is now hole 8 the basket is on the old t for 9.New 9 is a 300' lay up then another 300' to basket. 10,11 are the same, but 11 is completely cleared the basket is visable from the T.
12,13,14 are no longer in the old apple trees. They are moved into the woods. The old 15 was a big hyzer over apple trees to basket on rock, now it is more of a straight shot basket in front of rock.16,17,18 stayed the same, but 18 T box may end up shorter so you dont have to walk backwards from 17's basket. 3,4,6,7,8,9,11,12,14,16,17,18 will have shorter or longer T boxes so there will be 2 layouts.

A lot of people ask, "When will it be open." It will be open when it is playable. It still needs work to get there. One more work day will get it real close, provided more than three people show up. The tough part is done. Need some help cleaning up a couple of fairways. A few people with weed whackers. One good chainsaw person. Someone to spray the ivy. A couple of people to help sturdy up the shed that we will use for sign in and lost and found. The guys from Hyland will be there to assist with a tractor.
Then possibly next weekend the baskets can go in.
There will be a live Blue grass band playin for us to relax to after workin while havin a beer.
Start at 8am but you can show up anytime.

Thanks to Jason Quinn and Wendy we finished 7,8 just got to mow 7 now. We made hole 15 yesterday. Some fine prunning on the apple trees and its done. A couple of piles of brush to stack on 12 and 13. That will leave hole 14 with ten small trees to cut and clear, weed whack the hole faiway full of ferns and that hole is done. Some weed whacking on 1, 2, and 5, spray some ivy and it's time for baskets.

The push is on. I will be out there everyday. Saturday's seem to be the best days for getting a lot of stuff done. So yes there will be another work day Saturday. I supply lunch and first beer. I worked out a deal also. Beers will be $2 a pint after the work day is done.

Hole 14 looked like it was going to be a nice hole. Dave Boliver and I stepped back and took a close look again. After selecting trees to cut, we decided it was going to be a REAL NICE hole. Cut down and cut up about ten trees. Cleared some bushes. Now this looks like one of the best holes one the course, maybe even a Hyland signature hole. Uphill about 350+. The green is protected by a wall of bolders.
Cuzz and I will be up there today stacking logs and making brush piles. Also cutting up some stuff around the bolders to amke them visable from the T.
