I have a feeling that anyone that qualified and wants in will get in. Another Blue Ribbon love fest.

Not sure how to fix this.
Limit the depth of the waitlists?
Or eliminate the waitlists altogether and have a small showing for Finals?
One thing I DO know is that if you didn't qualify, you're not playing.

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
There will be a full field when finals are back in MA/CT like they used to be and where most of the NEFA golfers are. Northern VT, NH, and ME are really nice places to visit this time of year, but in reality, the golf season is over as they gear up for Old Man Winter. Its hunting season.

Sorry Matt, but just because we figure out ways to slide on the snow, does not mean we put our discs away. Most of us play year round up here.
While it might be true that we don't have as heavy a disc golfing population as MA/CT we do make an effort and travel to courses down their and participate in events down in the southern tiers as best we can.
Please let us enjoy our moment to host the Finals. Come on up, you might even enjoy it!

True but those that spend the whole season battling for that trip to Finals knew where & when they were gonna be.Matt Stroika wrote:There will be a full field when finals are back in MA/CT like they used to be and where most of the NEFA golfers are.

Reality for some(fair weather golfers).
Good luck on the hunt, Matt. But please don't shoot my day-glo Wraith like a clay pigeon

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
Just stating my opinion on why I think that the masses are not knocking down the door to be there. What needs to be done is figure out a way to make the finals something that nobody wants to miss regardless of the location. Unfortunately, I do not have the answers.
Personally, I would LOVE to head to Sugarbush to play golf just about any day when the ski scopes are not running. I wish nothing but the best for VT as they host finals. Thanks for the invite Josh, but I didn't play a single event in 2010 (NEFA or PDGA, sanctioned or unsanctioned) so I am pretty sure that I did not qualify. Again, I wish you the best. I know that anyone that does attend will have a great time and that anyone that got an invite and doesn't go will regret it.

YES!!!!!!! Will go pay now. See you all at Sugie, its going to be a whole LOT of fun. And whoever said the golf season is over in VT is crazy, this is the best time of year to play in VT, so come on up to the Bush and Huk some D on the Hill!
And also...we will get a full field of 90 golfers, just for the record.

Is there a date that you all have in mind as for when qualified players who are "in" the tournament need to register by?
Basically, what I'm trying to ask from a player who has qualified but who is on the outside looking in ... when can I register if there are players ahead of me who have not registered and are taking up a spot?

That's a fine question, but I didn't realize this was going to be up to us.
Isn't this something for the Nefa board or points committee to decide?

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
I believe the TD is deciding the cutoff date for invited players to sign up.
Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
That's funny ... we're probably all waiting around for the other to set a date not realizing what we were waiting for.
I was under the assumption that VT was setting the date but we can if you'd like I suppose. Just let us know and I'll throw it to the BOD very quickly if you want us to.

The cutoff date and time is Wednesday October 13th at high noon, after that we will extend invitations to some of the waitlisted individuals that are eagerly awaiting to come!

Sorry to miss this one, I was really looking forward to Green Mountain hosting! I have known all season though that I have to go to a family wedding. Can't wait to see the pics from this one...foliage must be amazing right now! Enjoy!
ps shouldn't the NEFA board members just always get an automatic invite to this, "sponsors" exemption?

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
Has anyone attempted to contact the people who haven't respnded yet? There may be a few who don't even know that this section exisits. I spoke with someone about it yesterday and the response I got was "What!?! They're not sending out emails?"
I'm not saying that it's the BOD resposibility to notify people, I'm just saying there may be people on the invite list that are unaware of what they need to do next.

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
This is shaping up to be quite a small event, with all the right perks.
BTW, Masters division is not a lesser skilled division than Open. It is age protected is all. Why tell players what division they are allowed to play in when it was up to the player all season long?
Ahhhh... what do I care, first time in my NEFA career I don't qualify for any division.
Good luck with the event.

Is it me or did this all happen kind of fast it seemed like right after the final pts. event ended then we were given 2 weeks to prep for the finals! Not trying to bitch but a little more time would have been much appreciated , especially since a 1 bedroom is $115 per night and then $50 for 2 people to play plus gas , that's like $350.00 w/o even buying any beer or food. Just saying a little more notice would have been awesome. I'm sure the date has been posted for a while and I'm just an idiot.

I'll know monday or tuesday if I'll be able to make it, so I'll be pushing it right up to the deadline. And yes Mark, the only details on the event that were out prior to a few days ago was date and location.

Re: Official 2010 NEFA Finals Invite List
Mark,
The only timing change from last year was that we moved the Finals a week earlier.
Last year, Finals were on October 24th and B-Lands Finale was on the 10th. Same two week spread.
You should be able to find some cheaper lodging. If you are have trouble with that, shoot me a pm and I'll see what I can do to help.
Hope to see you up here!

Wow Sean, good point... I guess I just assumed that if someone played 5+ NEFA tourneys that they kept up to date on the board and such.
If there's a list of email addy's available (it is part of the NEFA sign up) I'd volunteer to send out some mail.

I think the majority of members printed out a form for NEFA membership and mailed it in with a check. The list of emails are probably only penciled in on those forms not added to a computer list somewhere.
