Hi Chris. Mark Bonner went out and put flags down for 6 holes last night. We are shooting for 9 for now, and then flag the final 9 once we get a few of the fairways cleared. Baby steps... :-) We are going to do another walk through March 3rd at 1. At least that's the plan for now. The last 3 are going to be tough as they are through the woods so the more sets of eyes to find any "natural fairways" through the woods the better.

I ordered 6 baskets today, and we have funds (including yours) for 3 more baskets. I'm going to try and setup a time to show the ACOE the layout the following week. It's happening!!!

Great! Thanks for your hard work. I just e-mailed Mark. Maybe I could meet up with you a bit later on Sat afternoon. If not, we'll catch up soon. Very exciting. Baby steps is how we all started walking...and look at us now! :^)

I will not be there on Saturday. Family day at the circus I forgot about. Plastic-itis i guess. IN any event, I will keep folks posted here on the next "walk in the woods" at beautiful Otter Brook Dam.

Mark is planning on the 9th. Not sure of a time yet. The baskets are being delivered today at Marks house so we'll figure it out when we put em in his basement for safe keeping.

cool just post,text,call..adam dodge is interested in attending of course he will be wearing his Keene tyedye!

he may be able to offer some valuable input as he is a lefty that also throws overhands and flicks so some lefty input may help in hole design as they see some things the average golfer may not

you said baskets? :salut:

I will email jim at the damn 2 day but I am not sure if we need him quite yet .there is still a lot of work to do cutting through the woods. I am leaving for vacation next sunday so friday will be relatively short meeting for me , but we can definitely meet at around 30 clock for at least an hour or so .

if ya get bored..well actually IMO must reads...

the one I posted is rather long but really digs deep to core issues of design...Keene has a chance to avoid any pitfalls mentioned as it is basically blank pallet

I can dig anytime Friday

THey actually used to have a course through campus as a target course. we played it with ultimate discs. it was my introduction to disc golf. could get a course map at residential life. good times!

Hey everyone, Titan and I walked around for two hours and found some really cool stuff. Unlimited space. Holes 1-4 look to be ready to go almost no cutting. After that we have some design work, but may have found the signature hole over an awesome winding river! It is still snowy in the woods and I am beat from today's walk, but I will still be at otterbrook at 3 friday for one hour or so.
Seth, I used to play on campus as well at ksc in the early 90's.
We have also started work on a course in Robinhood park, but the town is much slower than the ACOE.

mark and crew

I am working on a map with semi accurate line depicting the holes

one color will be for "long position"
one color for "short" position
one color for future expansion

and so on

Mark great walk through today many things to ponder

The first 4 are looking great

I'm temped to go if I can get off work early.

Where's the meeting place at that park? By the bridge/restroom area or right at park entrance area? Got GPS info?

Never been there before :drunken:

chris email sent from RT2DGC ya can use that actually from now on if ya want for Dg related stuff just so I have it all in one place

the map is "rough" and requires some "know" and the color legends...please print a few if ya can and hand one to mark for future reference alterations,ideas...

the note would be on the middle "cart road" white line next to brook blue line depiction to bail on original plan discussed of going down cart path for hole 9...as then it would be a pain to creat a hole 10 and hole 18 that all finish kinda close to that(thinking ahead of course and we should be as it is going in in segments)...thus using the Pink line along brook to link back down and using the cart path for going back up for hole 10 to start the next 9 layout..allowing for a course link semi close to upper lot for off season

it will make sense when ya see the land

edit also there is lots of land to make up between areas but utilizing "longer" walking paths and the combo of two tees with different shots all out of each others way it should be easy to chew up the distances needed for overall connections and allow future flexibility in design, evolution maximizing the golfing adventure

Hey Titan, I forwarded the email with the map to Mark. Wish I could join you guys today... stupid work, always getting in the way of golf.

Just curious, on the "future holes" on the map, were you and Mark able to walk those holes as well? I can see some serious potential if the ACOE let's us build a path into the woods from that top parking lot.

Give me a call if you get a chance to chat about what you guys saw. 603-903-0284

cool..

just to keep convo's moving, focused and archived

spoke w/ Derek,Mark, and Chris today after map had been viewed and after the walk through Chris/mark did

conclusion

Derek likes idea of upper lot linking to course sooner rather later

Mark may want to cultivate entire 18 in lower park area thus long walk in off season..solution link some off season holes down rec area along road

chris countered flanked after walkthrough from first road off rt 9 heading west to see if it would be walkable to link

there is massive awesome land everywhere that all has real potential of being reality
this is the issue IMO..lol

plan keep scouting..mapping targeted areas and see what conclusions we can come to for flow,start/end,appearance/challenge

lower area scouted areas mapped scouted..time to dissect the upper quadrant to left of river..and then draw some final conclusions/direction

possibly leaving areas for future 18 in good faith that the project will speak for itself and want/need evolution further to the tune of another layout then encompass the cool, realistic design areas not used for initial 18

holes 1-4 almost ready for approval as they will stay kinda perma from what I have heard thus far giving 8 diverse locations to throw from

just to summarize the current state of project

chris and I will scout the back quadrant to far side of river and back to road(s) thurs/friday next week and report to mark/derek with conclusions
gather thoughts input up to then..remap proposed areas..and then see if we can map out realistic flow patterns and links to present for derek, mark to review/ponder once they are comfortable a "final" submission to ranger can be done view google map, flag markers on course

I tried to post this last week, Titan, following your request post for Dgolf course design requests.....it was on the thread for about 5 minutes, then was gone.......

I've read John's articles many times, and highly recommend that people wanting to design a course take them into consideration, especially when trying to incorporate holes for the more advanced players.....

Good Stuff! Talk to you later in the week, and looking forward to more walk-throughs in Keene.....and beyond!
