I don't care if they change it a little. I'm just trying to explain what I was getting at when I added it.
I don't think a person should ever be booted from the finals because they qualify for and have a spot in a lower divison, because they are on a waitlist that will never reach them for a higher divison.
That is really Schitty!

I compete in enough events to qualify for both MPO and MPM. I am 35th in MPO because I earned very few points the 6 times I played in that division, never cashing once, not invited to finals for MPO. I am 2nd in MPM and get invited to finals to play MPM. I plan on attending finals to compete in MPM. A few days before finals, people in MPO drop out or say they aren't going to make it, and the list moves down the line until it reaches me, 35th place. You think it is fair to say to that person, you need to play MPO, not because you were competitive in that division and you placed high enough in the standings to get an invite, but because other people ahead of you opted to not attend?
The key here is to make finals such a draw that this situation never happens.

Re: Rules for multi divisional players
This was part of my dilema last year. I thought I had 1st place in ProGM locked up so I started playing some ProMasters events. Then after doing well in 3-4 weak ProMasters fields, someone told me if I played one more Pro Masters event I would have to play Promasters in the Finals. Then I ended up missing 1st place by .1 because the ProGM fields at the end of the year were larger.
So this year I'm playing ProMasters with the thought that I'll qualify for Finals. If it gets towards the end of the season and things aren't looking good for ProMasters?? At that point I won't be able to get enough Pro GM tournies to qualify for Finals.
If I can just learn how to putt it would be so much easier

Re: Rules for multi divisional players
I actually think this rule doesn't work well in my situation either.
At Woodland Valley, I signed up as Pro Woman (but no one else showed, so i played with AM1 - and placed last cash - or would have if Woodland Valley wasn't a little screwy (but that's another story))
If I was planning to play a full season of NEFA events, I would plan to play Pro Women at any event where there was another pro woman... but in AM1 if no other Pro Woman at that specific tournament.... I think it is reasonable to assume that I could get invited/qualify to both divisions. And I have done this in years past with AM2 and Pro Women...
Until Pro Women is a more consistently populated division, I don't think it's fair to "force" us to play in the Pro Women division at the finals... When arguably AM1 might be a larger and more competitive field...

Re: Rules for multi divisional players
Maybe an overall exemption for women from this rule? We all know their fields are small. And I don't think we are gonna see any pro women bagging in rec.
