Registrations are cruising in and I'm hoping we can fill this up. I realize that I'm asking allot with a higher than normal registration fee but we're trying to accomplish several things here:
  • Raise money for this charity (the UCCLT) which oversees this Hunt Club property.
  • Continue to demonstrate that disc golfers can and will be positive influences in our communities.
  • Show that another course is needed in and around the Borderland area and establish one in Medfield soon.
  • Most importantly, have a top notch, rip-roaring good time

If the NEFA forums go down again, registration can be found at www.pokerpalooza.us

Is there a pre-reg list for this event? I couldn't locate it if so on the website.

Thanks!

What is the name of this course? Is it available to play before the tournament?

The name of the course is the Hunt Club in Medfield. It is a temporary course set up on an equestrian training and riding area. You can get a feel of what the course is like here: http://www.pokerpalooza.us/Pokerpalooza ... ourse.html (don't worry, we'll be using real baskets, not the portable one's seen in the pictures).

It's looking highly probable that we're going to have permission to open up the course for play the day before the tournament so that we can run a Friday night league there. The only problem is that I have a wedding to attend that night (not so happy about that believe me) so I'd be looking for someone to volunteer to run the league Friday night, June 15th.

The last time we did a league night there before the last tournament we had there, more than 45 players come to play. The place is built for disc golf and is unlike just about any course you'll see around here in New England.

Registration is still slow :( so maybe I can encourage more players to register with a little bit of a nudge and a talk up of our silent auction ...

There will be a silent auction running during the tournament for players to bid on if they so choose which will run Saturday and Sunday. Winning bidders will be notified on Monday, June 18th.

So far, we've got some solid items which will most certainly make some people very happy, everything from goods to services and beyond. I'm always looking for more so if you have anything you want to donate, just let me know. Check out the descriptions below or just click on the spreadsheet and you'll be able to see pictures of the items.

I would love to see you make it Dave ... it's been too long my man, that's for sure.

I've been laid up after a second surgery on my ankle about a month ago so I've been out of the NEFA tournament loop while I've been healing up. I'm not sure if it's been the inability for me to talk up the tournament on the tourney scene or if it's a higher price point due to the fact that we're running a tournament for charity but it's been disappointing to not see the registrations come in.

I thought for sure after all of the positive feedback we've always received about past Pokerpalooza's and then the crazy success that we had with the Hunt for a Cure, that a revamped 'palooza at the Hunt Club would be a no-brainer. Still hoping to sell this puppy out but right now it's not looking good for that ... I'm just hoping that I can cover expenses at this point.

Just about a week out and it's not even half full?!

What's the hold-up people? Is it because there are a lot of new(er) players that haven't had the taste of a Tatro-run tournament, or because there hasn't been a pokerpalooza in a few years, and they have no clue what they're missing???

Sign up...the price is WELL worth it!!! This private land is an absolute GEM!

The tiki tournament is only a week away and so far we've got a field of 12 players looking to battle it out on the course. Thanks to the following people for their kind sponsorship:

Dennis Parslow
Mike Saimond
Ken Gary
Gary Cyr
Tim Griskus
Ben D'Amore
Chris Piaseczny
Roger Gagnon
Randy Ahern
Mike Carrol
Rob Tatro
Paul Rashaw
Sandy Redd

We now have a water hazard on the tiki course with the inground pool installed and I've had to make a few alterations to the course because of it but it's fun to play.

We're still hoping to add players for this tiki-tournament which will include 18 holes of putter only disc golf (longest hole is approximately 150 feet or so), a barbecue cookout, free beer on draft, and a final 9 for the top 4 scores which will help determine who will be crowned our 2012 tiki tournament champion.

For the players, we'll start at approximately 5:30.

Rob asked for some help running a league at the course next Friday, 6/15. I will be running a doubles league at the Hunt Club course. Check-in at 5:30. Try to tee off by 5:45. It will either be a random doubles, or A/B random doubles.

Yes, Matt is going to be running league at the Hunt Club on Friday night, June 15th as a tune up for Pokerpalooza the next day. Even if you're missing the tournament, come on down as it'll be your only opportunity to play this great course this year. Be there, 5:30 and enjoy!!

Unfortunately, I'm right in the middle of dance recitals, gymnastic recitals, and soccer playoffs so I'm asking here for a little help if anyone is around. I'm going to go over to the Hunt Club on Monday after school for my only opportunity to work on the course to tune it up for the week. If anyone is around and/or interested ... I could use some help weedwhacking and mowing. The grass had been cut there a couple of weeks ago so it is fine to play on, I'd just like to make sure all of the teeboxes are nice and short.

Timmy and I are heading down to Rhodie on Wednesday to pick up 18 baskets from Norm Fitzgerald (thank you again Norm!!) and then we've got Tiki on Thursday and League on Friday before the tournament on Saturday. Looking forward to a great week ... PM me if you're interested in helping out.

Keep the registrations coming 8-)

We're more that half way full (ok, I realize that's it's only by one but I'll take what I can get 8-) ) and I'm hoping that we can add some more players this week. If you're on the fence, let me see if I can entice you to register earlier rather than show up the day of just for the mere fact that it's much better to see you name printed neatly by the computer rather than sharpie scribbled in a hurried wtf kind of way

Royal Pizza of Medfield will be taking lunch orders in the morning and the long range forecast is looking good.

Just a reminder that for every 10 players in a division, an automatic bid to the poker tournament Saturday night is on the line. Recruit players for your division and you'll increase your odds of getting into the tournament and if you haven't had a chance to play cards in our poker room ... well, it's pretty sweet I'll leave it at that.

Monday afternoon workday for anyone that is around :alien:

Well I am coming down. Can't throw backhand and may not be able to play both rounds, but I am going to come and bid items and throw until it hurts too much. Great cause and great tournament and it looks like a family reunion with my Sister, Brother in law and Niece already signed up. See you Saturday!
