The boxes are done. Very done. Wood visible around the concrete done. I played as I went, and my butt is officially kicked. The snow is up to basket level on a bunch of holes, even higher on 2 and 15. If there is a foot of new snow some greens are going to need to be shovelled or stomped or snowshoed at least just to be playable next weekend. Can't wait for the Ice Bowl! Every week the snow gets deeper and the golf gets more epic.

I am no hero. Others have shovelled it mutiple times this year. I didnt get ALL the tables/benches cause it was getting dark. And some to the boxes were already started and I just cleaned it up. Cant pile any more snow in front of some of the boxes, it will be too deep to throw flat!

Steve, I was thinking it might help to "pre-treat" the tees before the storm tues-wed. I could tell that there was some melt on the concrete while shovelling, like maybe you had treated them before?

I left a orange buzzz out there maybe hole 1...

That was my thought too. I will get some rock salt. I dont want to use anymore calcium unless we get really icey.

Thought the same thing about salting the tees. We might get 15 inches, but salting the tees might melt the 1st 5-6 inches.
T.Carter, regardless of what you say, you are still my hero, and that only has a little to do with you being my doubles partner for the WTIB. Thanks to Steve and others who have shoveled and salted to keep this course playable.
Will be there at 10AM Monday to do my share, as well as Friday before the tourney.

That is awesome! Thanks for the effort. Trudgeing through that much snow is a chore. You are a trooper. Glad I got that Eagle back to you. I will let you go through my trunk of junk(discs) and pick out a few. And great job spotting for us a couple Sunday's ago. :salut:

Thanks again for that eagle back Kaz, and really y'all (ie the hardcore WTL troopers who are so thankful) are too much:

-Who put the 'crete down and elevated the course so much last summer? Y'all
-Who kept the tees clear all winter up until the last storm? Y'all
-Who is planning to battle more on thursday? Y'all
-Who is too short to walk in the snow? Jeff Burrows (had to throw that one in there)

Its been said elsewhere but if anyone had a snowmobile to run on the fairways for a few hours, problem solved...

Is that not what he meant by trying out your ribbons??
Told ya they suck Steve.
Glad they're unnecessary with the kind of snow West T has. Don't think there was any major lost discs at ALL.

For the second week in a row, I am putting out the call for a WTL bag tag round on Saturday.

Saturday, 3/5 at 10:30 AM.

So whats in it for you? (other than my fairly high numbered tag?) Beers. Provided by me. For anyone tag holder who shows. Good Beers, bad beers, cold beers and colder beers. Ask Ceasar, I got a pretty deep selection. :drunken:

Please let me know if you want to play in this tag round on Saturday so I can include you in the head/beer count.

If people would prefer a different starting time speak up. If you would prefer to wrap up in your snuggie, sip apple juice and watch Jersey Shore, I can't help you.

I'll be there.

I haven't gotten a round in for a few weeks now. God only knows what awful tag number I have. Even if it is a bit wet out there we wont have 4 ft snow drifts anymore.

The course played well today. It would be hard to lose a disc with the snow being so packed down. Its still 2+ feet and you can sink in occasionally, but even my fat arse stayed on top most of the time.

Trash on the Disc Golf Course

Post by Ranger Cathy »

The trash on the disc golf course continues to be a serious problem.

Not only does this include Holes 1-18, it includes the practice hole and the parking lot. On Tuesday, immediately after I picked up trash and emptied the trash barrels on the course, I saw a beer bottle sitting on top of tee sign 6 right across from our office. Additionally, the picnic table at the practice hole has 2 beer bottles and a water bottle sitting on top of it, and a bunch of lumber underneath it that is visible from the Recreation Road, which has now been there for DAYS. I know that everyone warms-up on the practice basket, so I can't comprehend why no one can pick up the trash while they are there and deposit it in the trash barrel at Hole 1.

If the trash barrel become full, you can take the full bag out and leave it at the yellow gate at the beginning of the course, and I will pick it up. Please put a new bag in the barrel if you do this. Or better yet, carry out any trash that you bring in. Beer bottles and cans become a lot lighter to carry with you once they are empty.

When the course was first put in, it was supposed to be maintained by the disc golfers that use the course, and not by the rangers. That was the agreement. The rangers and the manager at West Thompson Lake are not pleased with the current conditions of the course. If it continues to be a problem, the baskets will be taken off the course and the course will be closed.

Thanks,
Cathy Dunlap
