Yeah, the going priority list looks like Chambers/Coles/Meachem - with a Coles scratch possible.

Update: Great news so far. J.Jones Inactive (Forsett #1 today) S. Jackson starting. H. Ward out, Chambers in.

Weird, both my opponents have McNabb and Houshmandzadeh. Different managers.

Monday Night Rumble

Yahoo league: Chain Bangers
3 playoff spots left for 7 teams

4-7 Kibbles an Vicks - Game on the line - Needs a big thumping by the NO defense to stop The Maple Hillbillies and Wes Welker/Lawrence Maroney from getting 28.6 points

4-7 Jonezy's - Going to 4-8 - Barring a miracle minus four points from Lepus Muerte's QB Drew Brees tonight

4-7 Deep Corner - Hanging by a slender thread - Needs Reggie Bush to come back from the dead and help Gostkowski put up 33 points - Otherwise AP Is All Day moves to 6-6 and rules his destiny

4-7 Kovo - Down 116.08 to 74.66 but nowhere near out - Has Brady, Colston, Faulk and Carney to try and catch the idle Satellites

5-6 I Am The Smolin - Still holds points tiebreakers - Needs Reggie Bush to stay home and Pierre Thomas to go head to head with Randy Moss AND make up a slim 4.4 point deficit to the guaranteed #1 seed Weasel

I just realized....NOBODY is eliminated from the 6th seed tonight without Smolin, Satellites and AP Is ALL Day all winning their matchups! As long as someone with 5 wins still occupies the 6th seed, nobody's season is over!!

UPDATE: SMOLIN TAKES LEAD OVER WEASEL BY 10 POINTS WITH THOMAS TD.

AP IS ALL DAY GOES TO 6-6
SMOLIN EDGES #1 SEED WEASEL TO GET TO 6-6
KOVO WINS AND STAYS ALIVE WITH SATELLITES AT 5-7
ONLY 4-8 TEAM WITH A CHANCE IS JONEZY'S WHO NEEDS KOVO/SATTELITE LOSSES AND BIG POINTS IN WEEK 13
NEW HIGH SCORE SET AT 204 POINTS (PREVIOUSLY 189)

KOVO's win gives him a playoff shot and your last matchup with Smolin has huge implications for KOVO. If you beat Smolin and Kovo wins, it goes to the points tie-breaker which is CLOSE between those two.

ESPN NEFA LEAGUE PLAYOFF PICTURE

Only 4 playoff spots for 10 teams. 2-rounds of playoffs - 2 weeks for each playoff matchup. 14/15 & 16/17

ERADICATOR - CURRENT #1 SEED - (9-3) 2101
MARKS MEEPLES - GUARANTEED AT LEAST #2 SEED (9-3) 2080
TYLER DURDEN'S PROJECT MAYHEM - LOCKED INTO #3 SEED (7-5) 1999

IN THE HUNT
Four teams with a legitimate shot at one playoff spot. Team Kozak (5-7) 1613 has an insurmountable tiebreaker problem

6-6 dallas The Boys Are Ba 1743 plays Head Bangers
6-6 TheCommonwealth Jabronis 1721 plays Team Kozak
6-6 Stay Puft Marshmallow Men 1664 plays ERADICATOR
5-7 Head Bangers 1754 plays dallas The Boys Are Ba

Pete Smolin's Head Bangers will eliminate dallas with a H2H victory - Tie-breaker would go to Smolin by points. Needs Jabroni and Marshmallow loss to secure the possibility of tie-breaker playoff berth by points

Marco's Jabronis can take the 4th seed by force with a win and big points. Otherwise he just needs big points, a Bangers win and Marshmallow loss. Just win baby.

Marshmallow men are in a tough spot with a tie-breaker points deficit. Best case scenario requires a victory over the ERADICATOR, a Head Bangers victory over dallas and a Jabronis loss to avoid having it go down to points.

Fortunately, for Mark and I, we're already guaranteed to be in the opposite playoff bracket and wouldn't play Weasel anytime before the Pooper Bowl with success. Matty gets a bye and then plays the winner of the seeds 4-5 playoff.

Yes but even more fortunate for me as you have to play him this week and could lose your number two spot to me if I win and you lose... :D

He is beatable. Last week in his league he was in the number 2 position and I was in the 9 (of 12) and I smoked him. Unfortunately for me, even if I complete a 5 game win streak to end the season, I still need help to make the playoffs and he is already locked.

Funny thing is that I thought he had the worst draft out of 12 and actually laughed at some of his picks. It very well could be Weasel who is laughing all the way to the bank at the end!

Weasel has benefited from the lowest "points against" total in the league. I'm ready. His player matchups look better for week 16, than week 13, should a rematch occur. If I lose, at least the #3 seed gets to play the 6th seed in the first round. Not that it's a HUGE advantage but.....

Either way, if nobody knocks Matty out, one of us has to go through the highest ranked teams to win it all.

You guys really need to mess around with the "Toyota fantasy enhancer" on the Yahoo league. All you need is an E-mail address (make a disposable e-mail address on Yahoo to avoid spam). The "smack talker" is a little weak but it puts a taunt in the ad space for the league page. What I really like is the logo-maker. It has it's limitations but I now have a cool "killer rabbit" logo to use forever. It shows up as black on white background in the Yahoo league, unlike these downloaded examples. They look really professional in your logo space without the black background messing up the screens/detail. Get rid of that creepy avatar Kovo!

Yahoo Playoff Picture

Weasel #1
Lepus Muerte #2
Maple Hillbillies #3
Smolin takes seed #4
TRB's takes seed #5

Maple Hillbillies are technically still alive for the #2 seed with Weasel and Lepus Muerte still playing but Aaron Rodgers and the Baltimore defense are highly unlikely to overcome a 50 point deficit and Donald Driver while playing against each other in the snow.
It looks like Jonezy's is going to take seed #6 and come back from the 4-8 mark. Kibbles and Vicks, Deep Corner and Satellites are effectively eliminated by record or low points.

Jonezy's 1550.86 + 168.96 = 1719.82 overall
Kovo 1564.12 + 89 = 1653.12 overall

Kovo needs 66.7 points to tie-break with Jonezy's at 5-8 and 68 points to beat Deep Corner and move to 6-7 with Ryan Grant and Ray Rice playing tonight in Green Bay. It could happen but I'm highly doubtful of anything more than 25 points per player here, which means:

Round 1
Smolin vs AP is All Day
Maple Hillbillies vs Jonezy's
Weasel and Lepus Muerte get first round byes

The frustration continues in my other league...

After a 5-0 start, i'm about to be 8-5. I went against the last place team this week, with the chance to clinch. As usual I put up SOLID numbers...enough to beat EVERYONE. Everyone except, of course, the team i'm playing. He puts up the most points he's put up all year by 50+ points.

I'm now a member of the "1900 club" - 1900+ pts for, and 1900+pts against!

Miraculously i'm still in 1st place though.

ESPN Playoff Update

The top two seeds are still in the air!

The ERADICATOR is done and the Marshmallow Men need an unlikely 34 points out of TE Jermichael Finley tonight to win and send the ERADICATOR to 9-4 and give seed #1 to Mark's Meeples.

Mark's Meeples is only down 11 points in his matchup with an idle Team Mais - with 3 players going tonight. A win by both Meeples and ERADICATOR looks inevitable and barring anything unlikely happening it's going to go down to overall points.

ERADICATOR 2101 + 178 = 2279
Mark's Meeples 2080 + 135 = 2215

Meeples needs 64 points out of Rogers, Rice and Mason Crosby to take the first seed. The overall score tie-breaker would go to Meeples (I believe) based on H2H victory over ERADICATOR

3rd seed is locked in by Tyler Durden's Project Mayhem

4th seed is UP IN THE AIR between dallas The Boys Are Ba and the Commonwealth Jabronis. Despite a huge effort by Pete Smolin's Head Bangers (5-7), Team Kozak is going to lose to Commonwealth Jabronis and effectively eliminate the Bangers.

dallas (6-6) 1743 + 139 = 1882 with Flacco and Jennings playing tonight while down 56 points to Head Bangers

Jabronis (6-6) 1721 + 133 = 1854 with Driver and Ravens D playing. Victory over Team Kozak assured

Predictions:
1) My money is on the Jabroni's for 4th seed. Dallas will not get the 56 out of Flacco and Jennings and fall to 6-7.
2) The points race for seed #1 is going down to the 4th quarter tonight. NAILBITER!

I don't have a list of prospects. Every year, they appear from nowhere and the fantasy gods despair.

8) Schaub 252.36
9) Kevin Walter 100.70
10) Rashard Mendenhall 151.12
11) Ted Ginn Jr 117.24
12) Donald Brown 64.84
13) Kris Brown 78
14) Chicago 82
15) Tim Hightower 171.90
16) Patrick Crayton 120.10
17) Fred Taylor 35.80

8) Tenn 79
9) Longwell 108
10) Owen Daniels 121.90
11) Fred Jackson 181.90
12) Matt Cassel 151.68
13) Sidney Rice 190.60
14) Mark Clayton 90.50
15) Sammy Morris 52.90
16) New England 96
17) Dustin Keller 93.50 (who was immediately replaced with Vernon Davis 201 after the draft)

I count 5 players who couldn't beat Longwell. Obviously, taking TEN's defense ended up being a horrible pick but nobody foresaw the total breakdown of their defense. I'm satisfied with my lower draft picks this year. Drew Brees was well worth my number one pick and I have a deep bench of good FA acquisitions, just like I knew I would.

Every year, people laugh at my drafts while doing the same stupid things - WASTING the top 2 draft picks on the RB fetish. My decision to ignore the RB frenzy and go Brees/S.Jackson/R.White/Addai with my first 4 picks was also laughed at but the results speak for themselves.

What happened to the teams that drafted two RB's with their first two picks?
AP is All Day (Peterson/Jacobs) 6-7 & 5th seed
Jonezy's (Tomlinson/Gore) 5-8 & 6th seed
Deep Corner (Matt Forte/Chris Johnson) 5-8 & no playoffs
Kibbles and Vicks (Jones Drew/Slaton) 5-8 & no playoffs

For once and for all!!
STOP SCREWING UP DRAFTS BY GETTING RB HAPPY TOO EARLY!!

In one of Todd and myself's league. One guy has clinched, no one else has... only the last place team can't get a playoff spot. 10 teams, 3 spots next week, and I play TODD of all teams.

I have a very high point amount, 4th in the league, if I win, I should get a playoff spot.. only 4 spots.

In my other league, (I only do 2) Ralph and myself co-own, we crept from 8th in points to 5th this week, clinched a spot in the playoffs with a 2 point victory.. AP only going for 8 pts and Michael Turner being out were HUGE!!!!

Yahoo League Playoff Preview

(9-4) Maple Hillbillies vs (5-8) Jonezy's
Image
H2H: Maple Hillbillies have won both previous meetings
Expanded H2H: Jonezy's slightly leads the season series 7-6
Season High-Low: Maple Hillbillies 171.60 - 117.02 | Jonezy's 174.12 - 101.14
LAST THREE GAMES
Maple Hillbillies: (wk-13) 137 (wk-12) 130 (wk-11) 145  High Scorer: Wes Welker 76.44
Jonezy's: (wk-13) 169 (wk-12) 156 (wk-11) 104  High Scorer: Bret Favre 85.20
WEEK 14: YAHOO PROJECTED POINTS HIGHLIGHT
Maple Hillbillies: Wes Welker vs Carolina 20.97
Jonezy's: Jamaal Charles vs Buffalo 21.10
Talking Head Says: Wow, what a matchup! Everything points to an extremely close game. Jonezy's has the distinction of being the most scored against team in the league. Despite this, two solid weeks of 150+ points in weeks 12-13 pushed him into the 6th seed as king of the five 5-8 teams. The Maple Hillbillies have made it into the playoffs on a steady diet of above average points, unlike the volatile and inconsistent Jonezy's. After two H2H victories over Jonezy's, you might be tempted to think that the Hillbillies have run out of luck but this is football, not an armchair superstition parade. Edge: Maple Hillbillies

(6-7) I am The Smolin vs (6-7) AP is All Day!!
Image
H2H: I am The Smolin won the only previous meeting
Expanded H2H: AP is All Day!! slightly leads the season series 7-6
Season High-Low: I am The Smolin 166.78 - 94.08 | AP is All Day!! 157.76 - 96.84
LAST THREE GAMES
I am The Smolin: (wk-13) 125.94 (wk-12) 126.10 (wk-11) 94.08  High Scorer: Tony Romo 68.66
AP is All Day!!: (wk-13) 142.70 (wk-12) 133.10 (wk-11) 157.76  High Scorer: Santonio Holmes 63.90
WEEK 14: YAHOO PROJECTED POINTS HIGHLIGHT
I am The Smolin: Tony Romo vs San Diego 20.73
AP is All Day!!: Adrian Peterson vs Cincinatti 16.74
Talking Head Says: When you look at the regular season expanded H2H, Smolin absolutely owned AP in the first half but it's been the exact opposite in the second. Smolin has been getting killed with PLOB (points left on bench) the last couple weeks, especially at the QB position, by not playing Romo. Westbrook being down has left a huge hole at RB as well. AP is All Day!! has left even bigger numbers on the bench but a few of those were from feast or famine players. Both of these guys need to make some difficult decisions on who to sit & start in order to win this matchup. While all the momentum is 100% AP is All Day!!, the overall projected numbers for week 14 favor Smolin. Edge: Smolin

All,

Need some help w/ selections for my league... 1st week of playoffs. I had a terrible start (L-W-L-L-L-L) but made an amazing comeback after some key Ricky Williams/Rob Meachem pickups (W-W-W-W-W-W-W). The opening weeks it was easy to select my team as half my team was injury plagued. Now I have a solid team throughout and finally am at a point where I'm driving myself nuts trying to make this week's picks. Thought I'd turn to NEFAland for input.

Here's my lineup for this week and bench. I feel need to get Meachem in the mix but don't know who to scrap (Normally Mason, but I kind of like the matchup this week). Let me know if you'd change anything.

QB - Drew Brees (NO) vs. ATL
RB - Frank Gore (SF) vs. ARI
RB - Ryan Grant (P, GB) vs. CHI
RB/WR - Ricky Williams (MIA) vs. JAC
WR - Donald Driver (GB) vs. CHI
WR - Derrick Mason (BAL) vs. DET
TE - Kellen Winslow (TB) vs. NYJ
D/ST - GB vs. CHI
K - David Akers (PHI) vs. NYG (won't change. 1 kicker on team)

Bench:
WR - Braylon Edwards (NYJ) vs. TB
WR - Bernard Berrian (P, MIN) vs. CIN
QB - Joe Flacco (P, BAL) vs. DET
TE - Jeremy Shockey (NO) vs. ATL
RB - Kevin Faulk (NE) vs. CAR
D/ST - CIN vs. BAL
WR - Robert Meachem (NO) vs. ATL

Thanks

In espn leagues with 2 weeks of playoffs against the same team, can you change your roster for each week? It's been a few years since I have played an ESPN league.

Yeah, I was trippin' on that. I think it's cool because you don't lose because of one bad week or a 5 point loss. I would assume that you can change your roster each week. It would be silly otherwise.

Frank Gore: Just like the talking heads say, he's becoming less a factor now that the 49ers like the spread offense. That doesn't mean he won't get good points but I'm not seeing consistent 20's in his future. I think that Arizona is going to force a shootout and Gore will be a sub-20 point option.

Derrick Mason: I see a big day for Rice, not Mason, against Detroit. If Mason doesn't get good points early, he's probably going to be a waste of space if the Ravens get some quick TD's (perhaps defensively) and the Detroit offense is getting blown out.

Ricky Williams: The Dolphins felt they could pass the ball better on the Patriots, so Ricky had a ho-hum day last Sunday. Now the Dolphins face the Jaguars on the road. The Jags have a stronger run defense (ranked 11th) and have allowed only 7 rushing TD's. The pass defense ranks 23rd and has allowed 20 receiving TD's. What kind of plan do you think the Dolphins are going with?

One of these guys has to sit and Meachem should come in. The guy is just rolling. After that defensive TD last week, you have to figure that his stock has increased and he's someone the Saints are going to want on the field at all times. Obviously, there's fear of a quick rout spoiling the passing game but I think the Falcons are going to put up some solid resistance. Divisional matchup.

* After thinking a bit, I'd go Meachem for Mason. I'm a big fan of "guaranteed points", like Gore and Williams at RB. They're going to give you between 10-20 points barring a rare "snake eyes" game. If you're going to gamble at WR, go with the hotter hand vs the weaker opponent. Meachem.

In the ESPN league, I'm having an RB situation. I'm not too concerned because that position has been shaky all year long and not bringing the lions share of points but......2 RB spots, one WR/RB spot and here's my options:

Maroney: Definitely in against CAR
DeAngelo: Questionable against NE
Bush: Probable but not 100% in a crowded backfield
Forsett: Even with Julius Jones back he still gets points but.....maybe next week?
Jerome Harrison: Had a bust-out last week against SD. Currently getting over an "illness" but expected to split time with Jennings. The big problem is that he's playing tonight, so if I don't use him now........

The problem with DeAngelo is that I'm playing at WT for the Team Challenge pool on Sunday and will not have the availability to make a game-time call if he doesn't get flying colors by Saturday night.
I don't want to start Cotchery (No QB), Lee Evans (No QB) or Chambers (bad matchup) in the WR/RB slot. I suppose I could gamble by picking up a Miami WR but I'd prefer to gamble on 10-15 points from a low level RB and hope for more, not less.

I'm starting to think "forget about Harrison" and if DeAngelo is a game time decision......just go with Maroney/Forsett/Bush and hope for the best.

I'd stay away from Bush.

I just read a pretty in-depth article on how the Saints have used him this year, and what their game plan was for him last week. They benched him after he got HALF the carries they called for him in the game plan, and made it sound like his days in NO are dunzo.

I'd go Maroney, Forsett, Harrison.

Is moats available???

Slaton on IR, and Moats showed he can carry the load a few weeks ago. He's supposed to split time with Chris Brown (like last week), but Moats' production is much better than Browns, and is expected to get majority of the workload. Moats is also a better pass-catching back which makes him that much more valuable, especially in a ppr league.

Or how about Chester Taylor??? AP sat out practice, and has been struggling as of late. Taylor is also a good pass-catching back.
