so i played new whites 11/2/2013 with guy d and i casually mentioned to him that i didnt see how anyone could shoot straight thru the trees to the basket on hole 8....so he gave a little wind up and flicked one of his discs straight into the basket for his 2nd ace at dacey....has anyone heard of any other aces at dacey or is guy the owner of the 1st 2 aces...the other 1 being 11 a little while back

I know of two others. Kovo has ace'd 17 fron the whites and Lee Vasquez has an ace from the white tee on hole 1. I've taken the same line as Guy before and hit metal on the drive. It's there, you just have to be spot on. Nice shooting Guy.

Got to play a few holes yesterday morning before the weather and my hangover convinced me that I should go back to bed.

The Tees on 1-4 are fantastic. Well done.

Thanks for the love on the tees. They really add a lot to the course. Can't wait to see them all done.

Speaking of which, here are upcoming dates for work parties:

Sunday 11/10: 8am
Monday 11/11: 8am
Sunday 11/17: 8am

We'll be building tees, modifying a few tee locations, and opening up a little more room on some fairways. Come lend a hand.

Practice basket is out of commission. Already have it in the shop for repair. Should be back up in a week or so.

It appears that we had a break-in at Dacey this weekend. Very little was taken, but its still pretty upsetting. Please be vigilant when you're at the course.

What do you mean by break-in? Like the storage unit?

How are conditions over there right now? Is it a swamp or mud pit currently?

I don't think it's muddy, but there is standing water in some areas on a few of the lower holes. Hole 3 is probably the worst.

Wednesday night league will be starting next week (4/2/14) at Dacey. 5:00pm start, draw around 4:45. Format will be random dubs. $6 per head, $4 to payout, $1 to ace pot, $1 to course fund. We'll be playing short tees for the first few weeks, switching to long tees once we have a little more light and people get comfortable with the setup.

Any plans for a Sat or Sun league? I live super close to Dacey now and would love to get involved with league, but have no way of making midweek leagues. Thanks!

I will be there tonight. I would like to confirm others will be there as well, as it is a tad on the far side away from me.

Played over the weekend and noticed that the poison ivy on hole 4 is coming back again and will likely make that hole unplayable in a week or two.
Is there a plan to either address the poison on that hole or to make a summertime alternate hole?

It would be a shame if most people had to skip an entire hole all summer and fall due to the PI being out of hand.

The Parks Department should be able to help next week with the grass and PI on holes 4 and 18. Summer is their busy season and like most municipalities in the current era, they have a lot on their plate with limited resources to accomplish it. Being a free course, it would be great if some of the users who has enjoyed golfing at Dacey for the past two years would like to step up and give them a hand. It would be highly appreciated and it would go a long way for the course.

Now that WWI Park is off the ground, we're planning to turn our attention back to building tees at Dacey. We'll be out there two weekends from now, Saturday June 14 7am-until pad is done. If we build 2 pads a month, all of the pro pads will be in by the end of October and we'll be looking at starting the permenant pads for the short tees.

We need your help to get this done. Building diesel pads like the ones at Dacey takes A LOT of work. Hope to see everyone out there.

We'll be having a work party this Saturday, June 14, starting at 8am. We have a lot of clean up work to get done around the course. The Parks Department sent a crew to mow and trim some of the fairways today, but there will still be plenty that needs trimming and mowing. Please bring a weedwacker if you have one. We'll be looking to do some work around the stream on hole 1 as well.

First work party for tees is being pushed back to June 29th. We'll be installing a deck tee similar to those on holes 15 & 17 on hole 16. Planning for a 8am start.

Work part this Sunday, 6/29 starting at 8am. We'll be starting up on tee construction for the season. All of the tee locations have been dug up and now we need to grade them out and fill them in. Tractor is up and running so I'm planning to begin hauling material tomorrow after work so all we have to do on Sunday is build. If we build two tees a month we'll be done with the pro tees by the fall and then we can start on the short positions. See you Sunday.

Course looks great Jay....love the new tee pads and the boardwalks are mint! I hope to make it out to one of the workdays soon! I'll also be in touch about the new course proposal in Sandwich...it's looking good so far

Dacey Fields has a new doubles record at league!

A 53 was shot from the blue tees by Kovo and Eric Wilson. And they, quote, left four birdies on the course.

Nice shooting!

However, Kovo could birdie 18 holes and say he left some out there.

Hello Jay Mello and All,

There is at least one large yellow jacket nest deep and left on hole 18.

I was looking for someone's disc and was stepping on one of the large branch piles. I'm guessing the hive/nest was in the pile. I was stung 8 or 9 times in the legs but managed to get out of there before I was swarmed. If you are allergic take caution on hole 18.

Enjoy your day.

Not a fan of bees. Take note mike D ;)

Although even if you aren't allergic - that is borderline scary.

A hornet's nest was discovered somewhere along the left side of the fairway on Hole 11, just before the hill's drop-off point by none other than Jay Mello. He says he's going to find it and tear it out of the ground and destroy it but I feel like that was a lot of unnecessary intimidation during league.

Pete Givens, who recently made a move to Massachusetts and to my knowledge is not (yet) a NEFA member, aced hole 8 today from the blues. 8-)

More league action tonight. I'll also be accepting registrations for the Trilogy Challenge on August 16th. $40 for A Pool, $30 for B and C Pool. I'll have any answers to your questions available!

A hornet's nest was discovered on the right side of the top hill near the teepad of hole 17 tonight. Be cautious when traversing that area!

Only a little more than 1 week left to sign up for the Trilogy Challenge at Dacey. Don't miss the first tournament at the course! We'll be having a bring-your-own-partner cash doubles round after the Challenge as well.

We need to do some work on the course before the tournament. There will be work parties on Saturday, 8/2 and Sunday 8/3, 7:30-12:30. We'll be focusing on cleaning up fairways and opening up some new lines. If you can make these work parties but would like to help, PM me and I can set you up with some work.

I'm looking for a graphic designer to help with a custom stamp for a course-disc. Anyone out there?
