Sean McCabe wrote:Hello Jay Mello and All,
There is at least one large yellow jacket nest deep and left on hole 18.
I was looking for someone's disc and was stepping on one of the large branch piles. I'm guessing the hive/nest was in the pile. I was stung 8 or 9 times in the legs but managed to get out of there before I was swarmed. If you are allergic take caution on hole 18.
Enjoy your day.
Just wanted to remind folks that the nest is still there, and those things get PISSED when you step on it. Multiple stings and the fastest I've ever gone from 18 to the lot later.....I realized the disc I went into the brush to get is still there. Its a Red Lat 64 Thief. Trilogy Challenge stamp is on the front. Name and number are on the back.

Sean & Chuck, where exactly is the hornets nest on 18? I went over there last night to take care of it and I couldn't find it.
I cut down all the brush on 7, so the fairway is looking real nice. In the process of doing so I found a hornets test about 15 feet off the tee to the left. I discovered it when they were stinging me in the head. Super fun. Anyway I unloaded a whole can of hornet killer on the bastards and destroyed their nest so no more problem there.
If anyone encounters a nest in the future, please take a picture (if possible) or provide me with specifics as to where to find it and I'll try to hunt them down and destroy them. If you're a regular, please consider bringing a can of foaming hornet spray on the course with you so you can help the cause and fight back against the jerks.

Jay, there is a large wood pile maybe 100 feet from the tee and on the left. That's where I got attacked. If its still there next weekend, I can show you at the Challenge.
Good call on the Hornet spray. I'll keep some in my bag.

I think there is definitely two because I got stung closer to 200-250 feet off left in one of the large stick piles. My buddy 100 feet back also got stung by the nest that got Chuck probably.
I'm not sure of it's exact location and I wasn't really interested in returning to find it since I got stung so many times. It's probably in the actual pile of sticks so may be very difficult to see.

Yeah, I should echo this. I may be a bit off on my estimation on where the nest is, as I was too busy sprinting away in pain and terror to give an accurate location.

I'm going to be out on the course tomorrow morning from 8am to 10:30am. If anyone would care to stop by and give me a hand with some housekeeping chores I'd greatly appreciate it. Looking to get at least four holes squared away with shrub cutting, pole sawing, and brush clearing.

I drove down to play Dacey Fields for my first time last week - and the road was completely closed down due to construction. It was about an hour drive from me in Central Mass so it kinda sucked to drive there and not be able to play

at the least drive was nice lol.
I'm hoping to come down and try out the course soon though - hopefully the road is back open

Sorry to hear that Steve, you just have to politely ask the folks at either end of Lincoln Street to get to Dacey! If you came past Dean College, they would have rerouted you. If you came from Bellingham/Medway (Exit 18) you should have been able to get by.

Great job with the new boardwalks, tee pads, and the new locations on 14 and 15. The hanging basket on nine is a nice change of pace from your typical elevated baskets, which you offer on 5 and 6.
Nice for a change of pace.

Conditions are rough, just like everywhere else. Not sure what the thaw will do to the course, but you can expect the tees to be clear sometime this week, blues and whites, so it'll be somewhat playable for the Dacey/Webster match in March.

BEE-WARE
Bees nest under the boardwalk to Hole 1. About 20-30ft before you get to the end of it. Dead center of the ramp.
Also another nest under the front right edge of Hole 15's tee. Stung multiple times.
Heard something about another nest on the left side of 14's fairway.

Wasps nests on the walkway leading to hole 1 and under the hole 15 tee pad have been sprayed. Mass causalities. Nests razed. Limited survivors. Please report back if the problem persists.

Significant sized nest in the ground on the right side of Hole 8. About 3/4 down between the fairway and the path to 9.
MASSIVE nest on the left side of Hole 14 nearly pin-high. Would be a pretty bad shot if your disc found its way there but with some tree-kicks you never know.
Be careful out there people.

At some point in September/October the course will be closed for 1-2 weeks for bridge construction. I will be posting at the course as well. More info available as soon as possible.
