good times today, RFG is looking unreal!

I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
well we blew it on pictures again
thanks to
Bob picard
Bob RFG
Guy
Myself
Bob-RFG grandson
we hauled a big amount of materials out to tee areas
the entire front nine with the exception of hole 1 (as it is currently playing from a skeet pad so is fine) now has tee materials and they are super playable
holes 17,18 also got hit
we are down to 10,11,12,13,14,15,16.......that is only 7 to go for all areas to be waaaaaay playable until we allow for some settle, compact, landscape, fill around edges, timbers, more fill etc etc etc
so although we are past phase 1 of digging, determining, acquiring materials, aligning, contacting, clearing access, etc etc ...we will now call this current stage phase 1 all the rest of the items are old news
tee signs will be "soft" installed for event and then we will go back around and cement them all in
next tee arrows are out, clips onto bottom of basket pointing in direction of "next tee"
this week
sign install
raking, tamping, pry bar 3 rocks I noticed in various tee areas
sunday haul fill to holes 11,12,13,14, with truck(contact eric L)
bob rfg clear better access for 10,15/16(won't need much fill)
scratch 10's tee area quicklook at how much fill will be needed
bob from rfg can do sunday again as well
sat is an out they have PIG BBQ and Big $ 3d arrow shoot, area of course previously requested for use for that event..I encouraged
we will clean that area for glow tues/wed or Thursday before event...as to not disturb their 3d shoot layout they have been practicing....go rfg home field advantage lol
GUN SIGNS we need them they need to get them to us, information for the range on the DG course drrrrrr
practice basket I say homemade, I actually would like to get boyscout use this materials in my garage and make nine for lower area...even 6 holes to transition the members to DG
but that is not event stuff...and I guess that is the focus..
I know where we need to cut for 10,16 to be mo easy to get tractor there/ 4wheeler
the tree standing cut on 12, is top safety concern along with gun signs...some people don't understand and it willsolve the nervous energy
guy what did I miss fromupdated list delete that was done?
oh yeah updated measurements...we need to get laminated for event/scorecards
thanks

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
Jim, hopefully you find the tweaks to have improved the course
Titan, worked 5 1/2 today
Took poles out to 4,5,9,11,12,13,14,15,16
Secured sign to hole 1
Cut bucked and stacked birch on hole 12
Cut and bucked trees on 10 all but 2 with one still hanging
It looks like a mine field. First on list tomorrow is clean up 10
Hopefully get an earlier start to beat the heat

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
we played today this afternoon
it was a foursome and a call out
we lost to the bro's
all tee post are at the holes except hole 8 it is at bottom of green still
the tees need tamping
hole 9's(new) tee sucks..actually I still hate this hole
from a player's POV I guess I just hate it
the rest played nicely
the out of shape people were fading fast
I told them to lose weight lol
everyone loved old 17's approach area now
the thumber boys were bumhurt on old 16
old 11 is fun shot
front 8 played great

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
yeah but not really ready at all yet
they need rocks in lower areas, rocks around sides, compaction, raised up in backs to level, settle time, extra material to get final level grade, compaction,...treat,notched,hauled,lag bolted together, set and leveled, material inside, compaction, stone dust for last layer, compaction, determine final surface, etc etc
we shall get there...like I said this is now the first phase as I consider currently once compacted a bit the tees to be at playable status where as before they were just natural
I finally noticed what Karl had mentioned the soft springy feel, bill thinks once the standard 2 trails up each fairway are worn that it feels way less strenuous
the forest looks great out there
what I observed as a player
benches would be huge, through worker eyes I think hole 4 is first spot to put one even a picnic table would be awesome really
after playing it's the first spot you feel worked a lil, bit
holes 1-7 play fantastic now and are so fair every hole at least 1 throw out of 4 had a realistic 2 op,hole 6 both teams 2'd
hole 7's is just a glorious dg hole
hole 8 would be 2nd critical bench spot IMO as that is next spot where labor sets in a bit
through worker eyes, I like your plan d idea for 8 using old 5's green...not tobe ruled out
hole 8 played fine for most part...that tree I hate sucks
the hyzer gap on right side karl pointed out is def the desirable gap if you land nearish or on the intended landing zone area from tee
IMO we need to adjust hole 8's ending in general instead of fighting those trees..there are so many options and what ever work was done just adds a great scenic view as it's great part of the forest....and in that process make 10 more lateral then vertical
I tried but I can't enjoy hole 9(n)
hole 10 the gap you cut is awesome....serious
debo says I don't want to go left no matter what I have to anny this....hmmmmm I remember having a convo saying we want players to say that so mission accomplished there
they loved the shot and thought with tee they could pump there in current position..they were eye balling the cheater gap we discussed, and threw bonus shots to see what is could/would do...meh would just be a very difficult short placement really not worth it..plus once extended it would really be moot
hole 11 benches, pileof dead pines near green...will get that soon
hole 12...hmmm you might be right the shorter position might be the way...but I really want to see it thrown with some tee surface..as it dips down and that is difficult to execute shotof course if using run up...a lil torn must admit...I think my intention on current tee should translate to reality but no matter if it is the fun level is reduced from shorter to longer in a drastic way
hole 13 great..
hole 14 plays way better they noticed is what it is not for a noodle big arms apply, future project do something cool with the rocks in fairway..they kinda suck
hole 15 some big debate...taken with grain bumhurt over no cheater gap..people love cheater gaps who throw overhand shots
discussion lead to easier...and super flick friendly but I flick and opted for bh..ob billmer flicked ob
I think the line is much better....a lil more evolution over time to best
16 played awesome great hole to clean spotless will look so sexy
17 goodhole...long hyzer outs are punished but that piles helps penetration and doesn't eat disc...out shots are still available
number plate will pop it real good...
tee needs morework stones, fill
18 so fun and fun to watch...we evolve our green area....do we make a true island and all else is ob? we will come up with something fun....18 is now an ace run lol how times change
many of the tees we did need more fill after a compaction period, but as I said play so much better as is
I know where bob can get to now so we can plan his route better next time for efficient hauls
we know where rfgbob can get to now so that is huge cuz its the best method
prob 16 or 17 for next bench area as that is critical spot for labor
that tree you dropped today bench material?
could access be cut to there from powerline...I think so from quick glance
trail I take is way shorter def needs a cut
burn pile ref for winter
hole 3
hole 4 bottomleft
hole 7 green areamore for sexiness
hole 8 we know the victims
hole 10 the only one we have basically
those are the critical ones I noticed for any play to be affected rest would be cosmetic
every hole but 9 & 10 were super fun to me personally and 10 is more cuz I am stressing that tee
if we can cut access up there to tee area should we pile tht wood where as bob can haul out....he is cord wooding all fallhe said
might save on labor stacking it way out of way and really won't play that much as the first 50ft are kinda easy to fly over
we played a slower round, more competitive vibe with some extra shots and tee chill time, forgotten items at previous tee, hauled 2 timbers way out in 2.75 hours that is down from 3.5 hours
I suspect a 2-3some can get it in 2.25 hours
and once we have things beat in and final adjustment I think 2 hours flat can be accomplished
anyways rfg is on the mind
can't wait till sunday to bang rest of tee areas out and see where we stand
we are so much closer then just 2 weeks ago to a great product!!!! thanks
edit once tee signs and all tee areas are in...I am upping the course conditions from decent to great!

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
it's crazy how the tee process works and course work in general
so happy to find a tee area during design
then always find a better spot
flat forest ground stillsucks
then happy to have them defined and dug raked
want tee material
get tee material
think wow howmuch better
play on them and realize how much more worky till ready
play a natural just dug one think wow some material will be awesome there
repeat process
anyways
I think we all get it tees are hardwork
my take from the round was actually benches in some spots
how?
cord wood wowzer people will be warm this winter and next
guy is a pro at weedwhacking
hole 14-15 walk will be ay better once we create hole between that area and eliminate hole 1
where the road millings pile is we can double as parking once done as it will be nice
frogs and toads wowzer out there
still jealous of the no brook/stream
team challenge we don'tlose at otterfish home turf is unique
that is all I have for the internet today
think I am good till Monday am with long post lol

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
Guy and I dug all the tee post and attached signs
3 could not be dug 10,12,15 need fill
they are just "soft" dug in currently we will in future go around and secure them better
for events sake they are in though
Friday we will spend a few hours cutting access to tees for sundays tee day
edit
after sundays major push will update punch list and bump to front...
instead of hole by hole I will reorder it by priority before events

Guy and I worked a few hours today
dug 11's tee area
cut access to 11,15 & 16
cut some trees on 8
Course is closed tomorrow Saturday 8/22 due to a 3d archery shoot that will traverse across some of the course
sunday back at it for the rest of the tee areas
thanks

Re: RF&G (Free To Play)
Eric the Finn came up with his truck and we crushed 3 tees on the back side out they look great
Guy and I defined the island green on 18 better and it looks great
Guy crushed various task while we hauled fill
Big Thanks to Eric
he also hauled 6 baskets to garage up there yesterday for this weeks glow event
we keep chipping away play is looking incredible and still maintains a challenge
hoping we get last 4 tees this week with Bob from RFG's tractor
fingers crossed

6 hours today
Weedwhacked and cut saplings on left of 10 new fairway and lugged and stacked it
Hung and fixed direction arrows on 15 and 16
Cut new trail to 15 and cleaned up a bunch of pole trees and outlined drop zone
Also got rid of some nubbies during my travel
