Tim,
A few things...
First, noticeable work has been done on the course by you, Adam, et al. Thanks! It sure "looks" more open this time of year compared to the summer.
Second, even though I "see" where it's listed on the tee sign, I never found the tee for hole 4 red. ?? Oh, well.
I saw TWO baskets in the woods that are parallel to rt15 and NW of the mulch field (NE of hole 11 and SE / parallel of hole 12). Are these the 2 new guys (didn't play them...next time).
Hope to catch up with you some time this winter.

Adam,
Actually I played all 3 layouts (reds, then blues, then realized I had played the others so fast that I had time for whites!). This was all before the Sat snow last weekend. I will try to find / play the 2 new ones later today (as I'm floating through up to CT again). Thanks.

Played a quick round late today after the rain stopped. Ground was soft but the course drained well. Need to clean up...many branches fell.
Gregg T. was out ahead of me, saw his car and foot prints.
Will be going to Park & Rec meeting on Feb. 10th to nail down tournament date.
I'll let you know.

About 1 to 2 inches of snow on the ground.
There are score cards at hole #1 with a map on the back.
The two new holes are not marked but after you finish #11 walk to your right and you will find a tee going back up towards the road. After that go to the left and you will find a hole going back towards #11 basket. Sorry these holes are not finished but baskets are out.
You want to find the pool parking lot and cross over lapham road to find the course, there is a sign at the entrance.
Have a great time...

Couple of things...Will not know the date of the tournament until after the March 10th Park & Recreation Commission meeting. The February was postponed because of snow.
Played the course with Adam today and there was still a fair amount of snow. I lost two discs, a yellow Firebird on hole #2 about half way up on the right side and an orange Valk. on hole #8 near the logs. Adam lost an orange Force but we can't remember where!
On hole #11 basket some JERK locked three chains together. There seems to be one or two people that do not like disc golf.

Also found my lost discs.
Going out to play in the afternoon when the snow softens up.
that is strange....why would someone do that very weird and I thought the gps tag for scavenger hunts that the hikers put on hole4 tully(still there messes with me when I putt) was odd....locking the chains tops that. Is there a PETA like organization against Disc golf

Will be out on the course Sunday. I will be marking red tee on #4, and tees on new holes after #11.
Wednesday night I will be at the Park & Rec. commission meeting to set a date for a tournament at the Wave. I'm sorry this has taken so long but every time there is a meeting it snows and it gets canceled.

Mickey & I cleaned up most of the tees and moved a few of the fallen branches. Tee markers are up for the two new holes.
New #12 blue is half way up #11 fairway on the right and the white tee is to the right of #11 basket, these will be the locations for now. New #13 blue & white are together.
#12 white 250 feet, Blue 355 feet
#13 275 feet.

After having a great round through the first 8 holes I walked into the open field holes and look to my left and hole #10s basket is gone, just an empty space where I expected MY basket to be. All of the temp. baskets out on the course were payed for by me so I was shocked that this had happened. I looked all over thinking maybe it was a tree hugger that moved it somewhere just to piss us disc golfers off. No basket to be found.
I play the final holes wondering if I should pull the remaining temp. baskets, I do not want to supply some jerk baskets, so this person can build his own course. My gut feeling is that it was a fellow disc golfer that stole the basket which is very sad. There are so many people that put time and money into courses for people to enjoy you wonder why this happens. My first reaction was to pull the course and say I'm done with this.
Why do fellow disc golfers continue to screw others, I just don't get it?
I'll report this theft to the town and bring it up at the Park & Rec. meeting tomorrow night. It has taken the wind out of my sails a bit.
What a way to wreck a round of disc golf.
Tim

Tim;
I wouldn't be so sure that it was disc golfer(s). Sure there are some idiots out there, but I'd wager that the majority of vandalism done to courses is from non-players, especially vandalism to baskets.
Since that area is next to that giant mulch/woodchip area, is there a chance that (with the ground thawing and public works coming out of hibernation) the town moved the basket to get some equipment in the area?
Ask the local newspapers to run a story, it's a pretty unusual looking item and if it shows up in some punk's backyard their parents would hopefully return it.
If you need any help getting or installing a new basket let me know. Keep your head up, these things happen a lot it seems. Just remember that for every asshole that steals or vandalizes, hundreds of people have enjoyed your course... from top pros down to that kid who can barely throw but still loves to play.

Thanks fro all the good vibes. I have backed away from the cliff and decided to get my rear end back in gear.
The Park & Rec. commission has given their OK to hold a tournament. I'm checking with other TD's to make sure there are no problems.
Adam & I for now will eliminate the open holes in the leaf mulch area bringing the course back to 12 holes. We will look to raise some more money and come up with a proposal to expand to 18 holes.
Everyone please keep your eyes out for anyone doing damage to the course.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more posting about trees down on courses. Any damage at Cranberry? I haven't checked out FU yet. Probably going to walk thru The Wave this afternoon to assess damage and take photos.
The towns of Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, and Westport got hit hard on Saturday and many are still without power. Fairfield narrowly escaped the major damage, though a large limb just missed my backyard basket.
Tim, congrats on getting to town to agree on 6/26/10 for Waveny's 2nd PDGA tournament. Course should be cleaned up nicely by then and I think Tim has some surprises up his sleeve.

I have pulled the other two temp baskets so the wave is back to ten holes.
I will purchase two in ground baskets and they will be installed on the two new wood holes and that will bring the course back to 12 baskets. For the tournament there will be six holes in the open area across the street. It will be a little different from last year.
A police report has been filled out and I will be posting a notice on the course.

There were articles in both of the local papers this past Thursday. The baskets were found by a walker near the Main Waveny House parking lot this morning.
I believe the people that took the baskets or their parents read the article about the police investigation and decided to return them.
Now, should I try putting them out one more time. Maybe I can figure a way to chain them to a tree.
