Hole 2 plays from the open field ala back towards 1's tee but off to the side more
Hole 5 when the basket gets replaced is back and to the right of the current pin by 125'
hole 7 when basket gets replaced is deep straight back behind 7's pin add about 150'
hole 8 tee is located behind the drainage pond and plays over the pond - comes in the backside to 8's pin
hole 9 has short and long alt tee placements - follow path straight back from 8's pin - trail bends to the left to alt 9's
hole 10 when basket gets replaced is fork to the left of 10's pin add 25'
hole 14 alt tee - go straight back from 13's pin to alt tee
hole 15 alt is back and to the right of the normal tee - follow path from side of 14's pin to alt 15 tee
hole 18 forks left mid fairway to the putting practice basket

Its possible to have a further back tee location on 1 as well

These are your alternate holes - good luck !

We have more baskets - so watch for change.

Les,

While all the rest are "followable", this one is not:

Hole 2 plays from the open field ala back towards 1's tee but off to the side more

"the open field" = walking back (along 1's fairway) to the field? And then throw "towards 1's tee"? If so, that seems like a VERY short hole...and the flow to #3 sucks  . What am I missing here?

The tee for 2 is pretty much even with the regular tee just out in the open area throwing a big right to left downhill to the same basket. Kinda hard to describe but very easy to notice once you are there.

Karl,
You can actually walk through the woods just to the side of 1's fairway to the open field (kind of tucked behind the fence of the soccer field). Plays to 2's pin as usual and although it appears that you have to turn the disc to the left to reach the pin, in actuality it is almost a dead straight shot with minimal fade. Doesn't impact the flow to 3 at all. Key thing is to not end up short and left as you could end up in the rough in a hard to find disc area - shoot straight !!! Distance is probably 275'.

Karl,

The tee for alt. 2 is straight a head from 1's tee in the open grass area. If you were walking down the first section of hole 1's fairway, instead of hanging the left into the wooded area towards the basket. You continue straight ahead. The drive for hole 2 now is a right to left from the open grass area into the woods.

Alt tees and spots for baskets will be marked today, and the 3 baskets not out there will be put out the day of the tourney. Sorry they can't be there in the meantime, but some theives spoiled that for us.

OK (as you guys now have mentioned it) - just that originally Les wrote "Hole 2 plays from the open field ala back towards 1's tee" (my bolding of the part that threw me).

I heard about the basket theft. Sucks a big one.

Question, is the problem that we just don't have locks for them yet and if so, how much are they? Id be willing to sponsor a couple of locks if its just a matter of finances.

Someone stole everything that wasn't completely locked down. We do need some new locks and the baskets are being welded together better. I think we have the $$ for the locks tho.

They will be out there for the tourney but we are probably going to have to pull them in after for the time being.

I had the basket on a cable lock to a nearby tree. The thieves managed to disassemble the basket, stealing the pole, the stand and the top ring with the chains. The basket part was still locked up. So it's not a question of buying locks. The baskets are temporaries and as such could be poached. I had plans to drill out all of the parts of the polehole and put locks throughout. I had even purchased the locks, but my drill was down on my boat which I was finishing up for the Summer season. I thought that I could get around to it in a couple of weeks time, but I was wrong. Bastard thieves don't wait.
So now, the remaining baskets are being welded so that all of the parts are fused together. Then they will be concreted into the ground so that theft is almost impossible. I say almost because some people will stop at nothing. I had hoped that by putting out new baskets, at no expense to the general public, that people would respect our course. But alas it turns out that we can't be that trusting. Additionally, garbage has gone to epic proportions as of late. On the ground, in the cans, you name it. David and I hauled out 5 bags of garbage on Tuesday and we had just emptied all of the cans two weeks previous. Add sign damage, graffiti, trees being bent and broken, etc. I really need for you people to be our eyes, ears and to watch over the place a little. Feel free to tell people to not be douchebags if you see them acting up. The bottom line is that this course could be taken away from us if we are not good stewards of the land. It's a shame to work hard on the course, to use your personal time to make something good for others, only to have thoughtless people wreck it.

The alternate baskets on 5, 7 and 10 have been permanently mounted and all components have been welded together to discourage thievery.
grats to JayPro for spearheading this effort. Jay spent time and money and solicited help with the welding. I donated the cement.
Jay, a couple of helpers and I installed the cement and sleeves. Jay purchased a locking mechanism for each basket and installed them.
Enjoy the re-addition of alternates.

New Alt Tee position in Tolland:

New tee position on hole #6.
When leaving alt position pin on hole #5, using the path that goes directly uphill and onto the fairway of #6 (as opposed to going back past the regular pin on #5 to return to the tee of six) - as you are walking up the path, look for a small trail off to the left marked by a couple of logs and my scuffed up trail, you will find a somewhat raw tee area (still needs work). The tee plays the hole by going through a newly cleared area into the previously cleared areas found if your disc landed in the woods to the left of the normal fairway. I think you will find this to be mostly open inside the wooded area, with an almost clear runup to the pin.

So.................due to the efforts of JayPro and Mike LaPoint, there are new additional pins located on the course.

Hole 4 - It's a little hard to see from the tee, but if you see that hanging mass of dead tree off to the right, look harder to the right and up to the edge of the woods, there is a new short pin location. Takes a real hard right turn off the tee to get there.

Hole 6 - in conjunction with the new tee location mentioned in the last post - or - from the regular tee position, the new pin is located in the woods to the left of the natural (open field) fairway and down to the left and before the stone wall of the normal pin position.

Hole 12 - There used to be a pin position in the first year or two of this course, that was much shorter than where the pin is now. It is as if you threw a big sweeping left shot that ends up by the stone wall. This is where you will find the new pin. So there is now a short and long position pin. My understanding from talking to Jay, is that this will open a possible new fairway to 13 from a different vantage point. With some work, this should come into play sometime soon.

Good work guys!

Did some work with Clayton today and opened a new fairway for 13. After playing short 12 walk up and left and you should see a make shift tee box.

Ill be out there again tomorrow at 10am do some stick pickup and other little stuff. If you're available come out and help.

XFarms survived the storm with minimal damage. There's a few big limbs that have fallen and need to be dealt with. Lots of sticks to pick up but nothing that really interferes with play.

Anyone want to do any work Saturday?

Hello c0cks,

I was home recently and had a chance to revisit my old stomping grounds. I'm incredibly impressed. The course is playing great and the alts were a breath of air. Very glad to hear that it weathered the storm, I was home for the week before Sandy and I was playing Tolland and Wickham as if I'd never see them the same again. Extremely glad that's not the case.

Wish I'd been able to play with all of you, only managed to get some rounds with Maurer and Barnett. Pumped to hear about TT's victory today, well done my friends.

Keep huckin'. Miss you all.

I dragged some branches over and made a make shift path to make alt 13s tee more visable. Picked up the fairway a bit too. Any other work that really stands out that needs to be done? I'm gonna try to make it out there again this weekend

So I'm thinking in the spring we should get 4 x 4 for the front of each tee box. That should run about $75. The only issue is rocks at the front of some of the tee boxes might make it hard to dig holes if that's the case we could do 2 x 4 and nail them into the ground. Maybe we could do the back too to keep the sand stone from moving around. Just a few thoughts

I think we need more than just a 4x4 for the front. We need boxes made for the pads. My 2 cents...and why are thoughts only worth a penny if it costs 2 cents to use them. Some ones making money here. This is BS.

Is it possible to put in paver blocks and PT 4" by 4" boxes like at Page Park? They did a nice job with the tee boxes.

it really just comes down to money maybe with some nefa money we could do a full box but I'm just thinking for short term we could always build a box using the 4 x 4 in the future.
