I think Jon Gerry was looking to play a round of whites or blue to white at around 5 or so. I would try to get in touch with him.

Random Draw Doubles Night tonight ... 4:30 start, $8 to play

Tonight we'll be playing from the white tee's but the team decides what basket they want to play to. Trick is that by the end of the round, each team has to play to 9 white baskets and 9 blue. It doesn't matter what order or which holes but just make sure you go to 9 each or incur a 9 shot penalty.

I can't be there unfortunately but Tim will be to handle any questions you may/may not have. Wish I could be there, I've been chewing on this one for a while and am interested to see how it turns out.

Oh boy. That sounds like an interesting doubles format. A thinking man's game.

I want to try it. I was thinking last night about which holes would be most likely to be the W-W holes. Interesting to think about.

Sorry for the late notice y'all but with the 4th of July weekend upon us coinciding with the Maple Hill Open, I'm not going to be around this afternoon to run league. If anyone else wants to step up and run things, have at it, otherwise we'll catch you next Thursday.

Yeah guys. Rob is out of town and I'm stuck at work. So we won't be there to run things.
If someone wants to run it today it is the dubs week so y'all can do what ever. If you need the handicaps they are on the 1st thread.

I will be there to run things today.
We are doing singles today, thinking b-w.
The skills challenges will be on the front 9, hole 5 there will be a flag near the creek splitting the trees to make a long putt. you will get 2 tries to sink this putt. Back 9 challenge will be an approach shot on the old white tee on 14, but you have to put it around 20 feet not 30.
So thats it hope to see yall there. And please bring close to exact change.

Had 13 players this week.
I won it with a 54
Joe M got second with a adjusted 55 (59)
and then we had Jamie, Chris C and Jimmy with a adjusted 56 (60), they did a throw off instead on splitting it. Chris got the X out.
Ill get the spreadsheet updated today.

Alright, back in the saddle and looking forward to getting back to league this afternoon that's for sure - my game could use it indeed.

Dubs this afternoon ... a handful of weeks ago we did a pick your own layout from the white tee's, this afternoon we're going to do it from the blues. Like we did before, each team has to play to 9 white baskets and 9 blue one's ... the team gets to decide what order they want to put them together in. 9 shot penalty if there is a failure to play 9 and 9.

Handicaps will be applied to the following teams:
  • A pool player with A pool player - 0 handicap
  • A pool player with B pool player - 3 strokes
  • B pool player with B pool player - 5 strokes
  • A/B pool player with C pool player - 6 strokes
  • C pool player with C pool player - 10 strokes

Hope to see y'all tonight!

Well, as we begin to move towards the second half of summer, our opportunities to fit blue to blue in begin to become limited so let's do it ... Blue to Blue this afternoon!

The skill challenge on the front 9 will be on hole 5 ... I'll throw a flag on the left side of the fairway, where alot of decent but not great drives land. If you can get up and down from that spot, you'll get your 5 points (this challenge is separate from your round).

The skill challenge on the back 9 will be on hole 12 ... this will be a distance/accuracy drive challenge which will give you 5 points if you can drive the gap on the way to the blue basket (gap determined by your group ... this challenge is part of your round).

See y'all tonight :thumleft:

Doubles League night at 4:30 tonight!
Bringing back the Equalizer Doubles! Anyone play the old, Wed. night league Marston Mills on the Cape?
Everyone plays the front nine as a singles round. We will do random draw foursomes.
We all meet on 10's tee to report our scores for the 9 holes just completed.
Here's were the doubles teams are made.
The lowest score gets paired with the highest score, the next lowest score gets paired with the next highest score and so on till all are paired. Everyone finishes the back nine with best disc doubles.
How do we determine the Cali? Just thought of this...we'll discuss...layout can be discussed upon arrival as well but I was thinking Blue 2 Blue.

Don't be scared about the rain or slight thunder storm. We'll probably get a little wet around 5:30 or so if I'm reading the radar right but it won't last long.
COME GET EQUALIZED!
I'm heading over in about 10min.

Singles league today.
Playing W-B today
the comps will be. the front 9- we will practice death putts. Hole 3 there will be a flag or something up on top of the rock and you will have 2 putts to make it. It will not be a close one.
The back 9- this will be your drive that you take for your shot. Hole 12, you have to FLICK it (even if your a lefty) and get the 3 if you 2 it you get an extra 5 points. But its not an extra shot that you take.
Please bring exact change if you can.
Thanks

Doubles today ... actually, we're going to make that triples instead for a format I recently learned about called 'Chinese Fire Drill'.

Teams of 3 individually drive on each hole. The person with the best drive takes the drive and plays on from there. The other two players play best disc doubles from the worst drive. The score at the end of the hole is the combined score of the individual who played the best drive and the partners who played best disc from the worst drive.

Anybody know what the parks closing time is these days? This will dictate which layout we play.

$8 to play ... 4:30 start. See you there 8-)

So this is played in 6-somes and the other team is the one that chooses which is the 'best' and 'worst' drive? Seems subjective.

After thinking about it a little bit, I don't think that there's a reason we can't play it as doubles that way we can play in foursomes (while avoiding six-somes).

The other team will determine which of the two drives is the worst drive. Worst drive doesn't necessarily mean the farthest back, just the toughest way for the other team to get to the basket. The other drive will obviously be the best drive of which the thrower will complete the hole by themselves.

Should be a fun way to practice and get in lots of throws at the same time ... I'm thinking B-W which means handicaps would be as follows:
  • A pool player with A pool player - 0 handicap
  • A pool player with B pool player - 2 strokes on b/w
  • B pool player with B pool player - 4 strokes on b/w
  • A/B pool player with C pool player - 5 strokes on b/w
  • C pool player with C pool player - 8 strokes on b/w

Subject to change however depending on park closing time.

Trying to understand... The best drive I get. They play the hole out from the spot. The other is the worst drive and they also play out alone? Basically just play singles and add the score?

Not sure I have it right. Maybe worst drive gets cali?

I like the idea and a new format, just don't quite get it yet.

I agree with Mike. How is this not just singles with adding the score? I like crazy formats as much as anyone but anything that deviates from Best-Disc-Dubs scares me a little bit

It didn't matter in the end because we realized that this was our last week of being able to hit B/B most likely so we opted to go with Best Disc Doubles on a fine night for golf.

We had 12 players tonight and winning with an adjusted 55 (62) was Sam H./Matt G., rounding out the money was Joe L./Eric W. with an adjusted 56 (62). Finishing just out of the money was Tim W./John G. with a straight up 57.

Take care and thanks for the mostly positive vibes :-?

Nice. I saw the other day that the park closes at 7:30.
Couldn't find my tag for about 2 weeks but just cleaned out the truck and found it! I am ready to give the #14 away! Who has the top 3 Borderland tags and how do we get them to show tonight?
See ya there for a 4:30 start.

our Challenges will be
Front 9- putting challenge on hole 1. It will be about 30-40 feet. you get 2 trys
Back 9- it will be an appoach shot on hole 16, alot of people end up on the left side, so you will have to go thru the small gap on the left and make the putt.
