16 is a worthy opponent, punched her hard today but there is still more work to be done.

16 is done, and looks real nice, 17 is staggering, but has not quite fallen completely, 1-2 full work days and she should be good and then on to #18
for all you players who don't play 9 holers, Otter Brook is about to be a legit 18, come test your skills @ our Sunday dubz league 9:30 AM, or if you really have game, sign up for summer of dubz tourney August 1st, 800$ for 1st place

Good times out there
Couple bodies would go a long way Sunday morning with 17 being a debris field of fallen and manageable sized pieces of trees. Easy going and seeing accomplishment is well worth the time. Otter Brook has lovely terrain and forest structure and possibilities for fairways is overwhelming.
I will probably be there at 0630 sunday

Rob and I punched 17 in the face today. Getting close to the uppercut to the face. Back at it tomorrow 0630 in the rain. It just might be it for 17. We shall see

Another very productive 6hour workday. Rob and I put it to her good. Park Ranger came through and is happy/impressed by the back 9

Hole 17 is shaping up nicely. Back out there Tuesday 7am or earlier

how long is 17? sounds like it must be a monster. Hard to tell distances in the pics but how does the back compare to the front? Just curious thanks, great job.

My guess for 17 is 310
Rob and I aren't just cutting but doing a thorough cleaning as we go not a beast by any means
I am having a blast working on 17. 16 was a bitch because of the vertical aspect. 17 is a lot closer to level. Bear in mind Doug there are only two beasts working on the hole too
The back is fun and a good mix of tight and fun leaning toward fun

Hi DOug,
I really like the feel to the back, somewhat similar topography but a different vibe, not as much elevation change as the front 9, but some challenging holes, like the front 9, each holes has different lines to the basket Guy is right, we are being very thorough in our work, pole sawing, hauling brush, stacking logs, cosmetics etc, we have also been very mindful to make sure all debris is way out of play and blends in naturally with the environment.
Currently 10-16 are very playable (natural tee pads for now, but no major footing issues) baskets arrive Tuesday, with this installation, it will get more play and break in nicely. Average distance is around 300-325, but birdies will not be easy on several of these holes, I'll let you know when baskets are in, get a crew from devens and come down for the day and play!

Park Ranger came through and is happy/impressed by the back 9
what one?
they musta loved the look of access roads
you off worky yet rob?
can't wait to get back up
should have wedz
last week got complicated with the rain messing up my painting schedule
ticks?
been brutal down here
edit
doug much like every hole at OB the back nine are each very unique
while all in the woods they each offer a distinct challenge to score well
hole 10 tunnelish shot crossing a streamto the green
11 rob created a great old skool hit a gap throw it straight hole
12naturalhyzer to a cool elevated green atop an old dig hole
13 a soft downhill to slight uphill boulder sculpted green
14 throws down a side cartroad crossing the main cart road pure straight 280ish with a few guardians well placed
15. throws down revived access road from I suspect DAM's inception..to slight uphill green area well protected line narrows as green nears...will say it does slightly remindme of deven hole the hill hole 3? the down hill cart road to rocky green?
16 very unique hole uphill then over the hill to green area...will also say hole slightly reminds me of cogs 16 but longer and less drastically steep..and againjust kinda
17..not sure of final choices Guy and Rob went with as there was several options
18 all downhill to green I suspect it will be slight tunnelish to green nearish vernal/swampish/runoff area to exit over old small boulder culverted bridge of sorts
short walk down ranger access road backto hole 1 and/or bridge to summer parking area

Sounds awesome guys, thanks. My favorite courses are always ones with alot of variety. Hope to get up there soon. also i thought some of your temp holes were a big hit at your tourney in the fall. The beach one and the horseshoe/fenced island one were my favorites.
Just bought an otter brook tag. If you are low on tags, no biggie just put me down as a member. thanks. cya.

Doug, you are awesome!
Titan, As of 10:30 this morning I have from now until August 20th off, (more time for course work

)
MArissa is a seasonal summer ranger and also a Keene State graduate of either biology or forestry, I don't remember which. She was blown away by the amount of work, attention to selective cutting and overall use of the land. ACOE is pumped about the access road actually being opened up and available. I am optimistic we may be able to get them to use the front end loader to bring in crushed gravel and shur pak for the tee boxes, (not that lugging them up the side of a mountain in 5 gallon buckets wasn't fun).

Guy and I will be back at it bright and early tomorrow morning, I think it will be the day 17 goes down.
FINISH HIM!
Note to Admins, I realize this is a tad graphic, please remove if it is deemed as "over the top" this is however, what we are going to do to the hole.
