personally i would vote for long/long but I'm game for anything.
Holes 1 and 14 are more exciting holes from the top!!! We can do it!

I know 1, 14, and 16 have short tees - what are the other one(s)?
Aren't the ponds/lake frozen right now - so we wouldn't lose any discs?

The holes with Pro Tees are 1,14,16, and 18 in the regualar 18, then hole 19 has one out back. The big pond is somewhat frozen but does not appear safe. The pond by 14 should be all set, depending on the weather we get this week.

Thank you Andrew for the tees at Buff. I hope you and JZ win. Seeing as he was my partner for NEFA doubles.

As far as tees for the ladies. I do not care. I am ok with whatever. I have honestly never played the short tees. They have always offered them to me, but I refused b/c I wanted to play the tees the boys played.

im the same way, i like playing with the big boys, I never play from the womans/short tees unless there is water that I know I cant make it over, then i'll play from the womans tee just on that hole.

So yea im with majority vote. Long/Long.....

ha... busted. i don't throw far so i always take my short tee handicap. i don't compare my game to the guys' games so i never cared where the boys threw from ;)

is there a Streeter representative in the house? or a Hulme/Heenan representative? i'll go with the majority decision.

I played Buff Saturday, the water was partially frozen and not safe to walk on, but who knows what the next few days of lovely New England weather will bring

I have never played from the long tees over the water - I am new to the sport and find the water intimidating. . .

As long as the weather holds I am down for long/long. If weather is ok, long/short.

Do we have our outdoor gear ready? I was going to wear thermals, a pari of North Face polyester pants and then a pair of all weather pants. would this work out for my bottom half? I'm sure the wind might be a factor at Buff. I haven't played there since the summer.

I would suggest yak tracks. This storm is looking to drop a few inches of snow on the course, followed by rain/freezing rain. The rest of the week will be below freezing for the most part, including saturday, which means ICE.

Just posted something on Buff dubs board about what we were talking about. Please post there as well so Dave can consider this request.

Thanks!

this question might be obvious, but I guess if we're throwing from long (which I hope!), it might come into play: If I throw, it hits the water, which is now ice, and skids across to ground, is that considered ob?

Erica, I know you might be intimidated, but just think, if you're gonna do it, nows the time 'cause of the ice on top of the ponds. Better now then in the summer when your disc will sink to the bottom of the ponds. AND I've seen both you and Nicole play--you can do it, I know it :D (especially with that yoga-type back swing!)

if the disc comes to rest on land, then it's in bounds, no matter where it travelled in between :)

hmmm... need to work on my ice/water skip shots ;)

Knowing my luck my disc would find the only opening in the ice and sink to the bottom..

I have already lost 2 discs to that damn pond . . . from the short tee (stop laughing)

Saturday's strategy - lay-up - no matter what tee we play from - lay-up :)

oh, I'm definitely not laughing--I came inches away from losing a disc on hole 1 short tee. My mantra is going to be "ice is my friend"

The skip/slide shot on ice is always fun. You must remember to factor in an extra 20 feet when laying up.

I'm assuming its gonna be ice, ice and more ice. Esp. with the weather warming up tomorrow just to make sure any rough snow melts into nice, clean, clear ice.

Hey ladies! First chance I've been able to get on the computer. I enjyoed playing with everyone! We are all good players and are great competition for eachother.

Christie I brought the Sidewinder and the stretch bands. I figured all the talk of exercising that band would be a good thing to use in your home for the winter.

See everyone again soon!

hey there-
now I can put faces to most names! I had such a great time this weekend. Lots of laughs. . .

I'm gonna try to make it to Tolland this weekend (I know I'm posting in the wrong place for that). Also, I hope I can make it to W. Thompson and FDR tourneys. And in the future, Sap Bucket in VT. My tag will be up for grabs for any of those!

How are all the ladies doing? Been a nice relaxing week sitting behind my work desk

Whats everyone plans for weekend golf?
Me, I have a team challenge on Saturday, should be nice weather for another good day of throwing plastic...

I'm trying to get more woman to play here in Maine, its not going so well. When there are tournements, its usally just myself and one other girl with in the AM Division, then poor Marielle is alone in the Pro Woman, which she usually jumps up to AM 1 (I think), if im alone then i usually move up to AM 2. I just dont know what to do to get more woman to play. Trying to get the guys to get there girlfriends, wives, sisters, etc to come out and play, but for some reason its not as easy as I thought it would be.. How is the female compition within your states?

I just signed up to be a PDGA member, I'm one step closer to being able to play in the Maple Open :D , just need alittle bit more money before I can sign up..

Hi Christie--
Just read your posting. I'm pretty new to disc golf, but I have some ideas that carry from Ultimate.

Offer a clinic (preferably free) for all the local women.
(Colleges are a great recruiting ground.) Make it competitive or not, depending on the persons involved. Teach specific things (like putting or driving), then play a game or 9 holes-- offering awards for most improved/etc.
Have enough lightweight/understable discs to make it fun so people don't have to invest if they are just trying it out.

Or set up a league or bagtags for women--someway to get women involved without feeling intimidated by playing with more experienced (and sometimes more saucy) players. I know Innova has a page dedicated to suggestions for getting more women involved.

It's much easier said than done! It would be great if NEFA had some kind of sponsorship to up the amount of women who play (=money and fun). With Ultimate, we'd charge each team a set fee to teach them for the day.

hiya ladies,

registration for the FDR tournament in april is open. it's a sanctioned event, a rarity in "nefaland." $20 to play in a one-day C tier... not too shabby :D it's the weekend after bowling green ams but this weekend warrior thinks it's worth the trek.

hope the weekend treated you well,
h
