^^^Just bustin' TM; it does suck about North Smithfield! That's five minutes from home for me.

Glad to see Ninigret getting some action.

Big ups to Jason "don't call me honey" Graham for shoveling all the

teepads, they dried up real quick. Did you get permission to clean those

off? On a side note, the Vibram teepad on hole 1 is holding up great.

The league trial may be tough this week with this snow, putting into a rock

ring that you can't see is not fun. We will try again the following week.

Ryan,
 sorry i couldn't post response earlier, I fell asleep in my car after all that shoveling, barely made it to pick up wife in time.
 That was good. It's been so long since someone's used my name with a cracker reference that it really took me a minute to get it.
 how 'bout I run this by the town: they pay for, and install, permanent "mini pavillions" over/around each teebox. ( you know-like the ones they provide for the bicycling croud at the park that get used a couple times a year- only smaller) Each providing shade/shelter for year round sure-footed drives. All right, done dreaming. I think I'll focus on some new tops to the stone well targets.

Hey Jason,

Before you put much effort into tops for the rock wells...please give me a call and let's put some of that effort toward anchors for poleholes...

Hey Tim,
wasn't gonna do anything too crazy, just had some spare chain kickin' around, maybe get a couple plywood tops and posts. Although, puttin' into those raised wells is definitely good practice, won't need chains soon anyway (i wish). Anyway I'll give you a call after the weekend about pole anchors and such.

Normy,
I predict 7 people for league tomorrow, on my way to have all the latest posts at the same time on the forum index.

Pardon my ignorance, but am I to assume Ninigret now has a full 18? I went there last August and there were 4 holes to be found. Shot a 13 for the course.

Hey John,
May have seen you at the Wick opener yesterday? Don't know too many people up that way yet.
Anyway, for league we're playing 18 holes, of which 3 holes/targets are rock rings on the ground. 2 baskets get utilized twice from differnt tees.
Most targets on back are made from stonewells with plywood tops & legit. chains.
Of the 3 rock rings though, rumor has it that TM Dyer has permish. to replace 2 with the original Mach2's. PM'd him for comments, none yet.

Yeah I played a round there yesterday. Not in the tourney though. Just couldn't let opening weekend slip away from me.

Thanks for the info. It's an awesome location for a course. A group of my friends always book a weekend at Burlingame so we were pretty excited to hear of some dg nearby.

What's up with the baskets we (borderland) donated to TM for use during the frostbite? I know he was going to do some work on them before putting them in the ground. Not sure if the baskets are going in or if there is a time frame to look at?

I sure could use them on the 13th and 14th if they are ready but still not in the ground yet.

Hey Matt & Rob,
I'm pretty sure those baskets got perm. installed at TM's house to complete his own personal 27 hole course.
Just Kidding, I don't want to start anymore drama, as I've no info on those baskets.
Oh yeah Jon, the Yawn is the international symbol for disc golf at Ninigret.
Same old, tired story from the town whenever course improvements questions are asked.
I didn't come up with it, I'm just running with it.

Hey,

The course is temporarily closed per order of the Town of Charlestown...

I was asked to remove all the targets as well...

There was a walk through the entire course with the Recreation Commission Chairman and a Member of the Town Council today...

I walked the entire 18 hole layout with these gentlemen this am...

We spent more than three hours walkng and talking about the hows and whys of what the town needs and what could work the best for a disc golf course...

I walked away with a very positive feeling about the future of a Disc Golf Course at Ninigret Park...

The consensus after the walk through seemed to be a desire from these gentleman to try to be in a postition of putting the course back together for play in the next six weeks...

There are two council meeting this week...it was left that they will let me know after these mtgs about how it may work moving forward...

We are still in a stand by mode...

Please respect the towns property and do not play disc golf on the property until it is officially open again...

I feel that it will be soon....

Thanks for your interest...

I too am going to be optimistic after a long talk with Chairman Dan Alves.
It's just hard biting my tongue as they talk about town liabilites with the course in one breath, and the next they say the course will remain "open" to people that just want to "walk" the course (bird/wildlife watching :thumleft: , unleashed dog walking/squatting  ). This includes areas that were/are closed to disc golf (holes 3,4,5,8, oh wait, the whole back nine).
Sorry for the rambling, still optimistic though.

In response to the closing of Ninigret Park DGC:
Big Ups to Ryan "Pink Ice" Girard for last Weds. RI traveling league course location/design. Fort Wetherill in Jamestown proved to be a challenging mix of power and finesse, as well as redefining the term "elevated tees". What a blast throwing off huge cantilevered concrete pads from various locations on top of the fort 50' above the basket locations. Temp. baskets were just moved around the park a few times for multiple hole layouts.
This event location will be moved frequently to different locales to keep wanna-be course designers, town narcs, and others who wish to "slow the sport" at bay.
Suggestions for course locations will be kept confidential.
Contact your local RI Traveling League member for details.

That place was a lot of fun, we'll have to get out there again soon.

Josh and Norm have a neat place in Narragansett too.

Sweeping vistas that include: Newport Bridge (full span), Fort Adams, Castle Hill Lighthouse, 3 Masted Schooners, Whales, Mansions, and Kick Azz graffiti!

I definately agree with Jay, those views from the "Pinnacle of Jamestown" tee were something else.

Next time we need to set up one of the baskets in the foreground of the Newport bridge, that would be a sweet hole.

Too bad we cant take over the whole park and make it permanent.
