More auction items
Adding to the list the just arrived Star Sidewinder from the Wintertime Open, don't know if any of you saw my shirt, very nice hand drawn block print looking, hand/disc/tree/basket, from the throwers perspective, very very cool.

I don't know what par is. I would say that 15 is a par 4, and 13 is at least a 4, and probably a 5. I've seen only one person 3 hole 13, once, and I've never seen anybody 2 hole 15. My best score is 48 from the long tees, and I call that a -6, with no witnesses. Maybe I'm a purist, but I'm having impure thoughts. I think I need to see a shrink, or an attendant, or the doctor, or dj.

Long Drives Par and Fundraising
Um, I think somebody got jealous I put it 25 feet from the basket, but I suppose its possible.
I three 13 pretty regularily now, though when I don't I usually go OB and take a 6 or 7 as a result, its a great hole and will make or break your round, then there are the two after it, 14 rarely birded, but with new discs totally possible (and good putting).
I think really its a par 56 from the long tees.
And a true SSA would be somewhere around 48. 15 holes can be birded and SHOULD be birded by competent disc golfers, HOWEVER, tying those 15 together in one round has yet to be done, and is very challenging. This course is only going to get better!
I am calling the fundraising deadlines by the middle of this month...make your bids !

Hole changes in the works
Heads up, the Northampton Course is in the midst of some changes to the layout. We have already pulled baskets on holes 3 & 4, and 2 will be pulled shortly. This is a proactive response to the discovery of a fox den in this vicinity, and also to erosion issues with the path. We hope this is only temporary, but we will be designing some new holes to get a full 18 up and playable ASAP. Thank you for your patience, please leave the foxes alone, let them be.

What's really weird is when Big Brother is a sister who can't decide if she loves us or hates us.
We discovered the living fox(es), discussed amongst ourselves possible responses to that, meanwhile we've been considering the erosion possibilities on 2-3-4, then the Voc school gets a complaint from someone who is concerned about the erosion we're causing and I get a call. So JJ yanks 3-4, I yank 2. Hopefully this is all very temporary, but we need to do some work and create some alternate holes in the meantime.
I have a walk through about the complaint Friday @ 3:00 PM, I bet you nobody shows except me considering the imminent deluge.
Get committed at the Northampton State Hospital Disc Golf Course.
I know I've gone crazy.

In the meanwhile the deluge will create more erosion than human traffic ever well - not that there is zero impact from golfers, but wow...maybe ban cleats? I dunno...
Habitat considerations however are trickier and would seem a legitimate item to address. I actually don't know what happened to the foxes that lived under the spruce trees near hole 9 at the Wick. Hopefully they took up residence in a safe place nearby.

Thanks Eric, 2 is back in, 3 & 4 are still out, ideally we will get 3 & 4 back in at some point. One can make up the 2 missing holes by playing long 8(tire basket, then playing back down to 8 silver back downest the fairway from which thouest have playeth. We need to do some erosion control work, wood chips and step action. Meeting with complainant and Smith Voc Lands manager Wednesday at 3:00. Play on, avoid using 3-4 trails.

1,9,10,11,12,18 mowed. Would have mowed some of 14 and 13 too, but apparently the farmer is planning on haying 14 this week, and 13 in a couple of weeks. He yelled at me for mowing too much of the field on 18..."That's just redic...that's like 10 or 15 bails!"
I must be nuts for having ever gotten myself into this insanity. I suppose that's why they call it the looney bin.
On a more serious note: This course is NOT in a park or on private property,
rather it is an all volunteer effort in a permanently protected agricultural and open space. In the summer time there will be increased risk of lost discs so use a spotter. Enjoy the prickers, and get committed.

I wish I was available, Doug, but I'm going to Vermont for a family affair. If you feel like whacking, Hole 15 could use some help. I and others would sure appreciate any help.
The course is very playable these days, though 14 is due for a serious trim, with hay about 4' high. My bet is farmer man will be haying Hole 14 today or this weekend anyways. Enjoy a round, at least.
He asked me not to mow 13 cause he wants to hay it after July 4th, I'm sorry but that hole is going to get ugly.
6 and 7 could also use some trimming, and 16, 17 just ideas, there will most likely be others playing and/or working the course
