so much for NOT BUSTING BUT...

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

No worries Sean. I think we did okay. see if you can tell what Neil and I did. I'll give you a hint. 'WE BUSTED BUT' today. In fact, free golf for anyone who notices what's new out there, including the work that Larry put in. Actually, and i'm anxious to play tomorrow so I can see the results of Larry's missions as it was dark when we finished. Larry, by the way you rock. No disrespect but I thought only Neil and I would be the only ding-a-lings to be out there on a day like today.

look forward to tomorrow and what it brings. hope to get in a round in about noon before i have to go to work. see ya out there.

Post by smc4434 »

I noticed the branches off the pine tree on the first hole, the three bridges; hole 2, going to hole 8, and on hole 8...nice work! you did some work on the steps going up the hill to hole 8. also, the tree you cut down on 11....did I miss anything??

did you say bridges???

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

yep! you pretty much nailed it. only you forgot to mention the PAR/DISTANCE signs that were mounted to the tee posts. you probably did see them but didn't quite notice. having played there many times before it would make sense that you'd walk by them. but otherwise you detailed most everything else. YAAAAA!!! free golf for you (and all your friends. and everyone else for that matter). thanks for noticing. see you soon. :)

ps extra extra special thank's to Neil of Neil's Glass and Moore.... without his motivation, time, tools and donations bellamy disc golf wouldn't be 1/4 of what it has become. thanks brother, you hump bustin' b@stard.

love to have ya!

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

i'd say "show up", and by all means we'd love to have you(tee time is about 4pm), but this wednesday will be our last of this season because the clocks will be going back for the winter. however, the good news this that we tend to shift the tee time towards Saturdays at noon. got snow shoes? this DISCussion forum should catch you up http://www.nefa.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=145 or this one as well http://www.discgolfcourses.info/index.p ... &Itemid=30

This wed will be the last tag day on wendays at Bellamy Park due to the time change. if we could all show up a little early to have enought light, Around 4:00. Then I think we will change tag days to saturdays.

TIME CHANGES!!!

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

hey nick, scott pretty much nailed it. I was originally under the impression that we'd be moving clocks back this weekend but apparently that's not so. consequently it looks as though we have another wednesday before the time change. Until that happens, whenever it is, we will surely meet every wednesday we can before we slide over to high noon on saturdays. grab your snowshoes. if you don't yet have a pair but are planning to then be sure get those with some sort of 'cramp on' or ice grip, simple/traditional snowshoes don't cut through the hard pack and slope terrain. for more tag issues you can check out the Bellamy TAG topic posted at the "Happenings and HookUps' thread in the DISCussion Forum http://www.nefa.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=145 . see you soon and... by the way, GREAT JOB SUNDAY!!! :P

hey scott, awesome to see you active here. as you've seen, this site really is a great source and means for local communication...see you at four.

We have started saturday tag days at bellamy. yesterday we had a great showing of tags and two new guys got into the tag race. If you see this and you have a tag but you will not be able to play on sats, please return your tag to Dennis. There are other people out there that want tags but we don't have any more. Oh yeah and who has the #1tag? Thats me!!!

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

Correction! Hold on to your tags but get your butts out there and play, especially if you have a lower number. i still have tags 19 & 20 before i completely get my money back and getting more is an easy thing. nice work scott, it's good to see someone else finally grab it from tex, (no offense tex) i'm not sure if i'll be making it saturday but hope to see you all soon...

SNOWSHOES???

Post by Dennis Grzywacz »

yo sean. i'll be throwing tomorow and will probably be out there until the sun goes down. but if you can make it we'd love to have ya. i believe this would be your first round of winter golf and i would love to get freshies with you. i believe you live in the area so you know already; but for anyone else who cares, this years first legitimate dumpin' brought about a foot to us in dover, new hampshire. see you out there.

Work Day at Bellamy Park

Post by Rich Reilly »

With the weather allowing for some wonderful days of spring disc golf, it is time to give some love to the course known as Bellamy Park Disc Golf.

There will be a crew of people out on the course this Sunday, the 2nd of April, from 9:00am till Noonish....maybe have some pizzas or subs deliveried for lunch and if folks are up for it, a round of golf.

The town has provided dumpsters for tree limbs and will pick up any piles of cut up trees we may clean off the forest floor. This is great!

We will start at hole one and work our way around to course. The goal is to clean the Forest floor.

All that can, please come out and help!
Many hands, make big jobs seem small!

workers

Post by Rich Reilly »

I've got to say...all the work being done at Bellamy Park is staggering!
Keep up the good work! Two more baskets and we'll have a course.
It is great when the Town helps out too...between Disc Golfers, walkers, cross country track team, Camp Sun & Fun, dog walkers, and towns folk, this park has gone from a couple of people a week, to 50 to a 150 folks sharing this park a week. At any time during the day there can be 5 to 20 people throwing plastic, walking, or enjoying the beauty of the park!

It is a pleasure to be part of this Town project carried out by volunteers!
Ya we get our disc golf course but the town gets a well manicured, user friendly park. Yes! A win-win situation!

:D played the course for the first time on 4-20. beautiful day, little windy. some great hairy shots. i wasn't quite sure where hole #18 ended, so i went for the pin across the stream near tee #1. always a sucker for water shots. my girlfriend even played all 18 too, usually she quits after 10 or 11. she was a little confused about the "a" & "b" on the tee signs, but the blue and white arrows helped. the yellow building in the middle of the course is the rec building....not someone's house. thought it was a fun course....with some equally sadistic holes from someone's twisted mind  i'd be interested inn talking to someone about your success in your sponsor a hole program. :)

Flooding at Bellamy

Post by 24806 »

Went to the park today to check out the river and see how bad it was flooding. It was BAD! The footbridge over the river is gone, I saw part of it wedged against a tree but the rest was nowhere to be seen. The basket for 10/18 is completely surrounded by water. It will be tougher to play without a bridge over the river. Hopefully it will be replaced quickly though. Anyone else been to see the river, I went to see the Cocheco downtown and it was raging at the falls, really a sight to see. I just hope all of the dams hold and nobody gets hurt.

Hi Paul...
Boy...it was truely a sight to see at Bellamy. Played yesterday, Thursday, and it was almost like being at a different course. The lands seems lower than normal, the park floor has been wash and there seems to be more roots than ever. the water has subsided quite a bit. Basket 10/18 is back. We may need to thinkabout an alternate blue tee for one...till the bridge is back. Gotta love Mother Nature. Uncontrolable, very wild, and even scary at times!
Had fun playing and look forward to some nicer weather!
