They're definitely on the expensive side, MSRP is around $180.00...and I think I paid $140ish by looking and waiting for a sale.
But, like a lot of things you get what you pay for. Uppers are all leather, and they fit great right out of the box, no break-in time needed.
I'm on my second pair, the first ones lasted me 4 years...I still have them, I just wore the soles down to the point I wasn't getting grip in the mud anymore. They're still fine for mowing the lawn.

I've been through three pairs of Merrells in 14 months, I will never again buy a pair, as a hiker/discgolfer..Each pair ripped out from the sole where it connects to the upper....not a big fan....
Before Merrell i had a pair of Asolo gtx and they were the best shoes ever..I had them for around 5 years and they were still waterproof and in overall good shape not to mention more comfy then any shoe I owned, i was getting ready to have them resoled but I left them in the white mountains....urgg!! Anyway I will be purchasing another pair from Asolo best all around boot you can buy!! A bit pricey but well worth it.. They have a few new models out that i'm currently checking into.. I think I'm gonna go with the Asolo Fugitive GTX.. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/i/8399 ... r-Men.html

Asolo and Vasque are probably 1 and 1A when it comes to quality of boot.
I'm so surprised to hear you mention +Vasque along with Asolo. My last Vasques tore out like the ones someone mentioned above and I got a full refund because they were only a month old. Vasque do look really nice, but I didn't personally think they were nearly as good as Asolo, of which I've had a few that were great. Maybe you have had better luck with Vasque.
My knee doc did recommend not using the Asolo's that I had anymore though. He said they were too inflexible to allow for normal knee movement for disc golf. He sent me to his foot specialist where I got those custom insoles that have helped so much, and he also recommened the insoles be used in a slightly more flexible footbed.
I think Lowa makes one of the best boots for disc golf because they are the quality of Asolo with a little more flexibility in the foot bed. The Renegade's are still available at some internet stores.
I want to here more from Jerel and others after they have used the Keen disc golf shoes for a while.

I just picked up a pair of these bad boys. Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the future of DG shoes.
http://www.newbalance.com/products/MO1520/
They are nice and stiff, vibram soles but not too "luggy" if you know what I mean and they have a reinforced toe for us toe draggers. I don't know how vibram works with concrete tee pads but they work great on all natural surfaces. I think they cost about $140. I got mine free!

"Does anyone have a pair of the keen milo's.
I just want to know if the shoe is heavy or light. I have a pair of garmonts and they are pretty heavy now.

Very light. Sacrifices durability. Brinster blew his sole out day 1. Worth about $50-60 in my opinion. I wouldnt hike in them, so, I guess it depends what types of courses your playing.

But allaround a good shoe. I have a pair of garmont and there great durability put pretty heavy. i usually play borderland or around mass, but sometimes get down to charlotte, so i would want them to with stand concrete pads. If there not worth it for the money then I will try something else.

I am having a lot of foot pain, particularly when I play a hilly course. The pain is not in the arch, but rather the upper side of my feet. Could it be my shoes are not giving me the support I need?
Could they be too tight??? Just a thought...

possibly the shoes, but I think it's just DG in general... I have the same pain occasionally on the top of my left foot. It might have to do with the twisting motion during an X-step; when your left foot goes behind your right, then twists on the ball and powers through, it's a very un-natural motion and I can see that being the problem.

I love my LL Bean Trail Hiker Model II's, I use the low cut. It is a sneaker that acts like a boot, which I wanted because I don't play in boots.
Light, waterproof, breathable, but they were warm when it was cold out I'd wear them in the snow and never got cold. Also I slip a LOT the way I run up, and these have really good grip I actually feel them grab mid-slip sometimes, definitely reduced how much I slip due to my technique.
They run a tad small so if you have wider feet or something take this into consideration maybe order 1/2 size up.
There is a $50-$60 pair and a $80-$90 pair, the $50 pair is junk, don't even bother, get the $80-$90 pair. They are similarly named though, so don't get the wrong one!
Plus LL Bean lifetime warranty.

Update: These shoes are awesome. I use them everyday and they still look new. I played in them at the Tully tourney this year and my socks where dry at the end of a long day of constant rain. The soles work great on concrete tee pads and crossing slippery logs. Check 'em out.

I have to agree I picked up a pair the other day after getting fitted at the New Balance store, however mine were not free. How did you pull off the "free pair". I have only played one round however this was in 90 degree heat and they are light on your feet and grab really well on natural surface, rubber teepads and are SUPER comfortable.
One thing I will say about buying them at the New Balance store was that they told me if they don't fit right or I have foot pain at anytime after I buy them was to come back in and they will help me adjust the shoe or if they don't fit right and we need a smaller size they exchange them and make sure that they fit perfect. That's just one of the bonus's of buy them right from the store. $130 was the price tag, but so far they are worth it.

Hey Tim,
I am related to a marketing rep at New Balance and I am a sample size (Mens 9.5). But I tell everyone that I am sponsored. I have been working my connections to try and get New Balance as a point series sponsor. Maybe someday.

Re: Shoe Suggestions
Get your shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods and pay an extra $4 - $10 for the 1 year warranty, depending on the price of your shoe. Then when the right side of your shoe falls off from playing so much, you get a gift card to buy a new pair (worth what you originally paid). I've done it twice already. I ripped the soles off of a pair of Adidas trail running shoes and a pair of Merril low cut hikers, both in less than 6 months, then got them replaced. All you have to pay for the next time is $4-$10 to warranty the new pair of shoes.
I feel like I'm robbing them. Playing 3 or more times a week, I know my shoes will never last a year. I just hope they don't cut me off after I do this a few more times.
I think Sports Authority has a similar program.

Jeff, that sounds sweet. Definitely going to try that. I am going try my Keen golf shoes tomorrow. Got a pair from USDGC when they didn't fit Cutler. Perfect fit for me and less than half the expected price for these yet to be released shoes. I'll report back after a couple rounds in them.

Don't bother with Dick's Sporting Goods
REI has a 100% Guarantee. No fee's...no 1-year time limits. No hassle. I bought a pair of Garmonts there that ended up having a defect...brought them back, no questions asked, went and got a brand new pair. A month later, the new pair tore by the toe...went back and got another pair. Same problem happened again a month later....went back and got a new pair. It DID happen again on the last pair I had exchanged, but i'm not going to bother bringing them back again, as it clearly is a flaw in the shoe design.
REI all the way. Sign up for a membership and you get a dividend of what you spent throughout the year.

Re: Shoe Suggestions
can't speak highly enough of being part of the REI coop. Best $20 you'll ever spend, and you can easily make that back in a single purchase through your dividend check if you're in the market for high-ticket items. And their sidewalk sales can be AMAZING. I got a 4-person Marmot tent, MSRP $400, for $21 since it was a floor model that was missing a non-essential pole. Bought a pair of glove-lined snowboard mittens last year that were used for a photo shoot... MSRP $140, bought for $25. Another one coming up at the West Harftord REI in 2 saturdays, I'm looking forward to it

The garage sales are hit or miss...gotta get there EARLY to get the good stuff.
You're right though...if you're an outdoors person, the $20 membership pays off in no time at all. I LOVE getting that dividend!

Wow, REI sounds like a great store. I've never heard of it, there's none in central, MA. Typical east coast bias.
From what you guys are saying, it'll be worth leaving the sticks for the 45 min drive to Framingham to check it out.

What's the MSRP on those unreleased Keen golf shoes anyway? I assume if they're built for disc golf that they wouldn't fall apart as quickly as a trail running shoe or hiking shoe. They took into account the areas of the shoe that get stressed the most playing disc golf. True?

Eric, I'm always there before it start cuz like you said, you really have to be in order to get the good deals. It's ANNHILATED within 5 minutes of opening up, it's very "running of the brides" where everyone pretty much bum-rushes the racks and tables and starts hoarding anything that they think looks interesting. Then people pull off to the side with their bags full of crap and start checking how things fit or don't, trading items with other people who also have something in their hands that they don't actually want...
also jeff, dont get your hopes up TOO high. it's quite honestly just like walking into an EMS.

Re: Shoe Suggestions
I have two pairs of salomon xa comp 3s that have started breaking down after 2-3 years of heavy abuse. My gore-tex versions broke down last winter after nearly 5 years.
Has anybody recently purchased a new pair of trail runners that they would recommend (both regular and/or GTX)? Partial to Salomon because of their overall comfort and durability, but willing to explore other options.
Advice and opinions?
Leaning towards purchasing at REI due to lifetime membership advantages - shoe replacement, yearly dividend, etc.
