What is the scoop with your Austine COurse? I have heard the school was shutting down? Is it still just open for public play on weekends and after school hours m-f? If not, I may make a road trip soon, are you doing league on Tuesday, what time? all right, no more questions 8-)

Yes, Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VCDHH) (umbrella agency) have decided to close down the educational programs but they are hoping to reopen again in 2016 after they straight out the finances difficulties. News about school closing - http://www.reformer.com/News/ci_25548558/VCDHH-board-votes-to-close-Austine

The other service programs (like mine) at VCDHH are still in services (Whew! I still have job!).

News about Austine DGC - http://www.reformer.com/Sports/ci_25945816/New-England-Deaf-Disc-Golf-

The Austine DGC remains untouched and in process of course expansion at the request of VCDHH President (very supportive boss!).

So, yes, the course are still open to public from dawn to dusk anytime during the week. All the tees are already beaten up!!

Yup, (FREE) Tuesday league are still on. Meet up at 4:15pm. Play two rounds of 10 holes (including Alt tee - shooting across the water pond). The rounds should be done by 6:30pmish.

I'm temping to have night golf rounds in August...

When Austine DGC gets enough funding to have 9 more or possible 18 new baskets installed and also will try to get new prototype tee pads as well.

Right now, the tree logging company are currently cutting/harvesting bunch of trees (YES!!) on the other side of the hill. The tree company are paying VCDHH for the trees (VCDHH needs money badly). When they are done with the harvesting, I will take advantage of the new fairways that was cleared by loggers. Can't WAIT!!

By the way, I have created Facebook page of Austine DGC recently. Find and "LIKE" the page please.

Thanks PAtrick,
Glad to hear you still have a job and the course is getting some love, both good things, I'll make it up there soon, get back to Otter Brook when you can and check out the tee pads we are installing. League is now Thursday 6 PM we meet in the lower parking lot.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Oh man....four trees fell during heavy rain last night at Hole #1 fairway.

That opens up the left side of the fairway. The lefty players would be happy not to hit two large trees on the left anymore!!

Will cut them down when its drier out there. Thinking of using those trees to make benches. Anyone got good simple plan to make bench with trees?

Greg and Kevin are pros at carving benches from trees. I'll post some pictures of the ones at Jpark and CPS.

Bench on the left. Both logs are notched flat. They did one at Jpark where they notched the underside of the bench piece and stood up the short pieces as legs. Also dug them in a bit to be sturdy.

Here's a closeup of that same bench

We also flat-sided a portion of the trunk. This one has since been dug into the ground a bit to prevent people from rolling it away.

This one you can see the toe-nailed spikes holding the pieces together.

You can also wedge a log between two trees......
