You dropped a hundo to customize? haha
They make 3 different sizes for the yoke system, depending on height and weight, but Im sure you already knew that.
Isaac you have owned it for like 3 weeks. Come back after you have logged some real hours on your bag.

It makes spending the $272(shipped) that much more worth it knowing only 149 other people have my bag

Re: choosing a backpack-style bag
Actually my comment in that forum ("your forum") was directed at all of us snooty bag owners. The comment was that we throw discs, not bags. Don't see how that was a Mahal-centric comment. Steve Dodge consistently beats me with his nut sack. ( giggling).
If you want to settle on one number that decides the issue I choose the number 24. As in, you can carry 16 discs and 24 beers in the Mahal ( at the same time). Twelve pack in each side pocket.
I am very bored today, so just one more comparison: you have Doss, Jenkins x 2, whateves.
We got barsby. Booom.

Anyone that feels the need to carry 24 beers for an 18-hole round has a different issue altogether.

Re: choosing a backpack-style bag
I dont own either bag. I will say the grip is a nice bag. I tried it on a couple times this week and it fits nice on the back if the straps are tightened up to get it off my lower back. Plenty of pockets for stuff and can hold a lot of discs. Not sure how stable it will be on uneven ground once it starts breaking in or if any sagging issues will occur like the revos with the same front loading system. I also wonder how it will hold up through time with he quality of stitching is a concern since a bunch of peeps have already returned theirs from the reviews I read. Still a nice bag but don't know if it's worth the $200.
I have tried a few mahals. Some felt good and some felt like crap. I put on Brians yesterday and it felt like crap cause it wasn't adjusted to me. When I tried on Shauns when he got his it felt awesome cause he did a couple adjustments with the yoke system. Cows mahal felt good on my back compared to andys which didn't. Plenty of storage for everything u can need on a course. I perfer the top loading system. I really like the back support the most on the mahal and no other bag will compare to their custom fitting. For the $300 it is worth every penny.
I only carry 8-14 discs so I love the gateway backpack I have. It has enough storage for the basic stuff I bring with me while holding a few beers. it only costed me $60 used but it was like new when I got it. I am actually looking to down size to revo mini deluxe.
Isaac good luck with your grip bag and not in a sarcastic way. Give us a review
when you logged some miles on it. Good or bad since it will only help the next person looking to buy a grip.

You have a lifetime warranty from a company that has only been around for 3 years, with a spotty customer service and product history and has had issues fixing problems with their products in a timely manner... vs. a company that has been around for 30 years, has a much higher value in stocks, also provides bags for the US Military and is world renowned for their customer service and coming through on any issues with the bag.

It takes about 20 minutes to properly adjust the yoke on the bag, so obivously I am assuming the one you tried on was not fit to your size.

Much like your "Special Edition" Grip EQ bag, but totally different is that Mystery Ranch's Disc Mahal is a specialty product of theirs, they focus more on their world renowned hiking and military packs, as well as easily the best ski packs you'll ever see. Where as, Grip gets their bags manufactured in China, Mystery Ranch bags have a tag, that shows the various signatures of the creators of the bag, dates, serial number, so they can refer to exactly what bag it was if there was an issue.
Isaac Chaney wrote:we could argue about this all day, but in the end, how well the bag is selling says it all.
Not really, you got your bag from a company that just makes disc golf bags, us mahal owners got our bags from a company that sells about 300 types of bags, all at a high level of quality and one of the top names in hiking/skiing/backpacking market, would love to see Mystery Ranch's bottom line compared to Grip, LOL.
Lastly, wanna talk about VERSATILE! the Mahal is 10x's more versatile than the GripEQ, side compartments can be collapsed to make the bag the same profile width wise as the Grip, also Grip doesn't have water proof seams ALL around, does not contain a umbrella holder, only a chair holder, but oh! the Mahal has that too.. The Mahal can be modified to a small as you want to carry less and is water tight, as Shaun said, have fun with the rain coat for your Grip on and off, on and off, we don't have to worry about water infiltrating our bag. I can carry as little or as much as I need to.
Like Tserpes said, I wish you good luck with your bag, I hope GripEQ does do well, I hope the founder continues to create the root system he already has going, God Forbid Grip goes down, b/c there goes your "Life Time Guarantee", and thanks for the tid bit that Mystery Ranch has only sold 150 bags... there are 4 on Team Burgess alone.
Just putting the facts forth.
Unlike GripEQ which had serious quality issues with their first run and many problems, were produced by people in the US

Clearly, there's no changing your mahaled minds. I love my grip, you love your monstrosity of a bag. After I dominate nefa points series this year on my nefa tour, I will purchase a mahal, just to get my own tru opinion. In the end, we both have the sickest bags on the market, and peeps are wicked jealous .

And why the Hell is it a big deal I spent 100$ extra bucks for a signature series. You people don't know me like that, trust me its not hurting my pocket. And even if I did have to scrape the money up, nate doss gets that 100$, he's a freind and ill support his cause any day.

I would love to see mystery ranch come up with another bag, I mean hell, if they do big business over there, there marketing team should most definitely be seeing the clear psychology behind ( grip company coming out of nowhere with a traditional backpack style bag, and raking in all the clients ) it's obvious to me atleast. It goes to show, if you make somthing desirable enough, you can smash companies like mystery ranch in sales. That being said, once again I would love to see mystery ranch design a traditional back style model that you can sit on.

I just think paying an extra $100 for nothing but a different color is silly. But I must say, Mahal does the same thing, the classic black and green bags are $272 with shipping, the Multicam is $300.

Grip will never smash Mystery in sales, disc golf bags are probably less than 1% of their sales, like I said before, they make approx. 300 other types of bags, including outfitting the US Military, top skiiers and avid backpackers in the world, I am sure you could buy one of their backpack bags and mod it for disc and the quality would wipe the floor with the Grip, I hope Grip succeeds though, I was highly considering their bag for a while, then I found out, it takes forever to get a product that is made in China, that is ultimately inferior to my "Monstrosity" of a bag that can be modded to be the size of a grip if I condense side pockets and still have side pockets, the ability to hold my chair and my umbrella.... I can mod down to the Grip, can you mod UP to the Mahal if you needed to for a particular tournament?
Like I said before, I like Grip, I hope they do well, but I am very happy with my purchase, as you are as well.

Nothing, because apparently backpack bags cut off blood flow to the brain and make you all crazzzzaay.

Looks like you can get the identical bag as the grip from Cabelas for $70. U just need to build a frame for it. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags|/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-XPGreg-Pro-Series8482-Angler-Pack/704805.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-tackle-storage-tackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378&WTz_l=SEO%3Bcat104619780

Re: choosing a backpack-style bag
I know a guy on the disc golf course review board that modded a bag similar to this one with a home made frame and says it fits just as nice as his buddies gripEQ. He is actually selling them by request on the board for like $100. No warranty obviously, but.

Here is the thread for that cabelas bag from dg course review
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/sh ... post884937
Check out the first post and page 8(you need to be a member to see all the pics)
I cant make my mind up between the cabelas, gateway, grip, dual pack or the mahal. They all got good qualities.
Cabelas is inexpesive and seems to work well as a disc golf bag.
Gateway is fair priced and made for disc golf.
grip is expensive and takes forever to get one
Dual pack is middle of the road price wise, but I really hate that the frame comes out of the bag.
The mahal is huge and expensive but I like that its made in the usa and not china, The quality and the yoke system seem second to none also .
Im on the fence about which bag to get and everyone seems to love whatever bag they own and I haven't really had a chance to use one or the other to decide which one is better for me.

I don't see any place for H2O bottle on the tackle box.

There is one pocket for a drink. I believe it holds a 32oz bottle.

Dropped a hundy for an Innova Comp & quads in 2010.
Coming up on 2 years and it still does all I need it to.
From the look of it, I should get at least 2 more years out of it.

Re: choosing a backpack-style bag
i had a traditional rectangle/cube shaped bag for a year (Lat 64 pro with shoulder straps) and enjoyed it's durability, but didn't like how my back felt after a long day- and i also didn't like the general set-up.
i got the grip bag this september- the wait wasn't bad. they're very responsive to questions if you're getting impatient. i guess they had quality issues and they're made in China and etc... but the thing is built like a tank- heavy stitching and thick material. if it falls to pieces in a year, feel free to rub my nose in it- for now i'm pleased.
my favorite part is it's lack of floppiness. a weird way to phrase it, but not only do i like how it feels on my back- compact and agile... but i also like how it travels. i tend to have it in my work vehicle all day and it has a smaller footprint than the traditional bag or the yoke bags so it's more out of my way. it doesn't have dangling shoulder straps, or bulky side pockets or anything dangling all over getting caught on things.

I just double up if I'm bringing a couple beers.
