Are the cards going to be set by order of season standings?

Wednesday night it was brought to my attention by one of our board members that the advanced men's standings were calculated on only 5 events. Apparently, the formula that calculates the points was never changed to reflect the new charters requirement that this year the advanced men needed to play in 6 events, not 5 like last year.
After much discussion yesterday and today, the board has decided to go with the standings as they have been presented since nobody caught this error, including any of the players in that division. It seems that the players themselves were only aware that they only needed to play in five events so changing it after the fact seems to be unfair even though it was in the charter.
We'll be sure to fix this formula so that starting next year, the advanced men will need to play in 6 events to qualify. We think that this is the fairest resolution to this matter and we apologize for the oversight.

Did Am1's also receive 2 events played for 2x events?
This may have also mixed the numbers up
So my one approved Charter edit didn't make it into reality this year
Not a complaint just

Never got the email... Didn't know about the deadline. Go F myself for working and not having the time to read the board, right?! So in other words, finals open to only those who frequent the discussion board... awesome.

Well, looking back it looks like I had 3 whole days from the time I was invited to the deadline that I was unaware of. Thanks for letting me know that I was invited.

Sorry Sean,
I wasn't paying to much attention to any of tyhe other qualified/invited lists. They posted the original qualified list on the 6th and asked right away to reply if you were planing on attending. Then a couple days later they posted the official "INVITE" list and gave the deadline. If I had noticed your name wasn't in blue I definately would have called you.

No biggie Sully, it wasn't your responsibility, but thank you.
On another note, and I'm sure I'm way late on this, but what's with the multiple AM1's that are qualified with only playing 5 events? some of which being 2x's which I was understanding as not counting as 2 events?
Straight from the charter:
Double Points are calculated in the Points Series Standings as two Points events, but no longer count as two Points events attended.
To qualify for the Finals, players must attend the following number of events:
Division Minimum Number of Events
Pro Open 6
Pro Masters 5
Pro Grandmasters 5
Pro Women 4
Advanced 6
Intermediate 5
Advanced Masters 5
Advanced Women 4
Intermediate Women 4
Recreational 4
Not trying to call anyone out but I looked quickly and saw 3 Advanced individuals qualified with only 5 events, one of which had TWO 2X events counted. Two of the three accepted thier invite and one (with the 2X events) attending.

It seems that the players themselves were only aware that they only needed to play in five events so changing it after the fact seems to be unfair even though it was in the charter.
If said players had actually READ the charter they would have known from the beginning what was expected of them to qualify. This was the main reason I made such a point to make all three events at the end of September no matter how mad my wife was. I actually used the excuss to her that I NEEDED to play these events in order to qualify.
After a closer look I have noticed a total of 8 players that qualified with only 5 events played.
Edit: Look what else I found in the NEFA Points Series area -

You were originally waitlisted but 2 declined and bumped you up. Never got a rejected email from you.
The deadline was posted on the front page of the forum in
bold red text on Friday the 7th.

Doesn't really effect me either way...but is it more unfair to have people play the tournament that didn't play the min of 6 or as stated earlier its unfair to the people that only played 5 because it wasn't caught by anyone...?
I do appreciate the admission of the problem and the apology that came with it...but the finals hasn't happened yet so was it really too late?

The BoD discussed restarting the invite list for Am1, among other options. The final vote was the result that Rob posted.
Pretty much every option ended with players being unhappy with the outcome.

Up to the TD.
But I think that's a cool idea, especially for the divisions with more players.

Does Sean go to the front of the list now? I assume he would since he was in and didn't respond in time. Or how does it work if that is not the case? I hope Sean plays, he truly earned it.

Thank you, George. I will not be attending. Jeff and I talked today and we're good. I still don't agree but the decision has been made and it is fair. 6 of one, half dozen of the other as they say.

Sean is welcome to show up at Beauty Hill at 7am and be first on the waitlist Blaze will have for any "day of tourney no shows".
In fact ANYONE that is nearby to Beauty Hill(and qualified) should make the trip out for that reason. Someone ALWAYS gets hammered on Friday night and sleeps thru their alarm clock. That's a NEFA standard!

Get Paul Flemming into the tournament and the finals will have one less blemish on it's invitation policy.
