That was the most fun I've had at a league in a long time.
I learned some stuff tonight I would've never learned if I had not played league tonight. Thank you Drew.

That gets my vote for the best dubz league

DDC next week??
Gotta get the ol' man out to show us how its done on the DDC court 8-)

I love Pyramids.

Running Change **NO MORE FLIP DISC**

Next week there will be cards with numbers written on them. Example: two red #1's, two black #'1s. Reds are partners, blacks are partners, they start on hole #1. There will be a cali card as well.
The reason for the numbers and not just cards as there will be designated starting holes to cut down on the walk. I don't believe anyone should have to walk to hole 4 or walk down the hill just to throw back up it.
This will also allow people to play with people they haven't played with before or enough, tongue twister.

Along with the Ace pot that Gary Cyr hit this past week (hole #10 $35)
There is a side bet by Joe Yak for how many people will be at league ($1).
There is also going to be a birdie pot by Matt Grayum that is starting this coming week, details to follow.
And then DDC.....

Here are the results from Week 1. Just to make it clear, you get one point for every person you beat.

At this "point" the points awarded are just for "bragging rights". They may be worth something else in the future weeks - they may not - stay tuned.

Love the points system.

There should def. be some sort of prize/prizes for the most overall season points.

No need to discuss. It's an super idea.

After yesterday.

#1 I step into the circle. Some kid next to me says. "How's this work?" I said, "you flip your disc, join the group that flips the same as you, and keep flipping like that till you are down to groups of 2". We flip discs. Both he and I have heads. I pick up my disc and go over to the groups that flipped heads. I turn around and the kid is still over with the group that had tails

#2 At one point during flipping yesterday, I witnessed no less than 3 seperate circles of flippers thinking they had the Cali.

Ditched the disc flip years ago for playing cards.
Shuffle.
Deal.
Done.

Print out a card that says:
Aces and 2s start on Hole #1
3s and 4s to hole #3
Etc etc.

Eliminates a ton of confusion.

I represent the Question marks on the scorecard, Tim and I had a 51, FaHey and partner had 52. We were all newbies to the league and weren't sure what to do with our scores at the end. We were thinking we weren't near the top so we just went home.

Where do we turn in scores?

What in Ken Climos name is "Cali"?

Why do I keep hitting the skinniest trees ever on hole 18?

Why are there so many disc thieves at buffumville? (my star TL I miss you #hole5)

#1 Turn in your scores at the picnic table where everyone was at the start of league.

#2 Cali is when you have an odd number of players. Someone ends up without a partner. They get one extra shot per hole to take the place of a partner.

#3 Because you are missing the bigger trees.

#4 Because people don't understand that something they find that doesn't belong to them, does not become theirs because they found it.

Awesome thanks for the update.

And for the sage advice on the trees, I have no trouble missing the fork of death on hole 4 though ha

Here's hoping Gary and I get black ones next week

Can it be pushed to 5:05? I get out at 4:30 but I work in Sturbridge. I would probably get there at exactly 5 if I leave on time...

Monday Pyramids League @ 5pm **NO MORE FLIP DISC**

Post by Matt Grayum »

Starting birdie pot tonight. $1 buy in each week. You can buy in one week and opt out next three weeks and then back in another week. You are only in for the birdie pot on the night you buy in.

Silvers - any six deuces in a row.

Gold - hole 3 a deuce, hole 4 a three, and hole 5 a deuce.

Obviously an ace is better than a deuce and would count in the birdie pot for holes listed.

I think these are challenging enough yet can be accomplished any given week. See you tonight!

Jon Gordon wrote:What if you put in to the birdie pot but your partner doesnt You could split it or keep it for yourself kinda like an ace ? what if your partner does all the work to get those birdies do you still get paid ? yes, if you bought in

Good question. Any ideas from the gallery?

My first thought is that whoever put in gets the cash payout. If you put in and your partner doesn't, then you would get all the cash (unless you wanna be cool and split it with your partner). If you both put in for the birdie pot than you would both split it if the birdie pot was hit.

I know you don't know who your partner is going to be, so paying before partners are picked is part of the "gamble" I guess. I don't think I see any issues arising where one partner pays in and the other doesn't and then misses a put on PURPOSE that would get the birdie pot won (that would be dumb and most likely cost them the round). Yes, it would suck if your partner did no work to get the birdie pot BUT bought into the birdie pot (especially if you didn't buy in), but that's part of the gamble I guess. It allows the newer players an equal chance at winning it too, I guess.

Short answer BUY IN and no worries! Any other thoughts?

After thinking about it again it would probably be a rare thing to have your partner contribute NOTHING to achieve the birdie pot. While if this does happen, like I said, hopefully he's cool and splits it with you.

For the two dubs leagues here, we draw 4 random holes to which the team has to birdie 3 holes to take the cash. If one player on the team does not buy in, half the pot is awarded to the player that did buy in and the rest rolls over to next week.

Once the days get longer, we play more holes at Jpark to which we draw 5 random holes and 4 birdies take the $$$
