all the tee post, signs, arrows to next tee where needed are out and looking good

I thought long about the baskets of late and there was something that always stood out..http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7452&highlight=Homemade+basket(first photo) when I first saw this property in DG eyes with the surrounding..I thought that sweet rustic wooden basket would be awesome here...with the major beaver presence and abundance of beaver/rustic wood around(I have a huge stock pile as I collected it years ago with a friend long story)

instead of stressing over $$$ for baskets and other stuff..I am gonna start the rustic/beaver wood basket construction phase..this I can do..yeah they may not catch blah blah blah..I will enjoy doing it with friends and I think it will make a statement more then some shiney metal thing and IMO fit the property perfect..get out my urge to see one of these things in person and buy IMO at least 3 years for "real baskets" just in time for the back nine and then we will have more resources

I wanted the first course I put in to have nice new baskets a man can dream but this will satisfy me and the needs currently of the course..and have a certain "cool" factor rather no $$$ feel..lol

so the ever continuing quest continues

sully is gonna get those famous blue buckets used for baskets

we have plenty of 8ft length poles almost exact to regular DG post
we have chains with collars for 18 baskets

once I find a "thingy" for tops of baskets we will be rocking and have this course up and running in hopes to attract people to finish the punch list

just got to weld the top rings to tie all these materials together

we have 2 volunteers for this...once the scrap metal is collected we will be playing DG at Bicentennial

got an email from some people who wanna start to help..so the signs for the course awareness have started to work and the BUzz is spreading..soon the troops will be there...glad I took some time to work on promotion instead of getting frustrated and PI everyday

ok the game plan for course volunteers has changed...I think I have finally figured out a way to get some people motivated for the cause so the few that have busted arse don't become insane

stay tuned

I still refuse to ask the regional DG community for basket $$$ as I am stuck in the belief that the local support should be there!!!

The course actually plays well and is close to being ready..we just need more heads out there...I try to work alone..the mental challenge of staying motivated is tough

Hey Titan, I took a stroll through the course about a month or so ago, on my way home from Greenfield- there were three baskets in and the fairways looked mostly cut. PLEASE hurry up and finish this course! I think it will be a very enjoyable nine-holer, not too crazy but not too easy either- I think it would be a great place to introduce necomers to the sport, especially with the pavilion and picnic tables that I hope will get fixed up some time in the future. I particularly liked hole 7 with it's "risk/reward" green. Very efficient layout with 1 leaving from and 9 returning to the pavilion. Good use of available terrain and elevation, etc.
I wasn't sure where all the rest of the baskets will go, some holes had poles, some didn't, but my score would have been around 32. They aren't "easy threes", at least not for my game level. But it'll be a great place to hang out, cook some burgers and stuff, throw some... looking forward to seeing it finished. I know from watching the other threads that there were lots of plans for a lots courses this year, looks like this one will be the first one actually being played. Nice work out there!

Well Thank you Rick,

I must say the work of Guy/Phelan Lyman,Bob Picard,Mike Gardner and Eric Harris have been huge to even get it the land looking half way usable

It really was neglected for 40 years..

That said what is done is pretty playable..well minus baskets..lol  8-)

The poles would represent the basket locations..some poles may have just disappeared..

the land used was every inched allowed..all other areas..are no goes for now..until future 18 expansion to back side of property

your right almost every hole can range 2-4..lots of 2's and spots to grab a bogey 4 as well

Tee material will be there soon...I wish everyday the chipper crew would come back..and I am so frustrated with no baskets on a place that is "READY"..it gets us closer to greenfield..and that is where my true DG eyes/heart is at...I know conway is there but once we crack city of greenfield that population zone can help explode DG..

The amazing part with holtshire..I learn almost everyday someone new that played the course..word is spreading and I am confident I will find the resources and personal energy to complete this course..well at least open the course officially

Thanks for the kind words..I look forward to working with you again at Coggs when time/energy allows

Titan... my word demands at PCC are letting up, so I'd be happy to come over and get my hands dirty...after work 3-4pm and Sat after 9 am could be done. Let me know, I can bring equipment...chain saws , brush saws, etc.

My Big buddy Bob Chickenwing Picard is back in town for the winter..he has resurged my energy towards getting baskets in the ground of some sorts...once he wraps up a few lose ends we are back at it

both our visions of sweet rustic wood/chain baskets are too overwhelming to not explore..we both think the property would look sweet if we go this direction and fit the overall theme...

If we can get the dominating work beast known as Guy back..the trio of destruction will begin again!!!

Nice! Geocaching has a HUGE cult following, and it's a wonderful way to move users through the landscape...just like DG. It's def an easy (and free) way to cross promote. Nicely done.

don't know what dat means Guy and I am fairly HIP..lol

ya so the timber cut is going down..great hey..lol but that said I know the people doing the cut and things will be cleaned up...and OBV lines will change..I am hoping that hole 6 can remain as that is the only hole I truly care about over on that side that is in the cut zone...well and hole 9

so sharty we did work that may be semi moot..not too much though...great we have town attention, big equipment and great buzz going around..

I will be focusing on only holes 1-3 as of now till cut ends..

also spoke with Dave Frye and the work crew is back in action...so if they cut soon we can grab them again..well fingers crossed

I have the basket in my yard and will be getting chain/locks as it is on stand and I dont wanna sink it till after cut...so It will be out there thursday I hope.....so then we have 4 baskets...and the rest will follow in time..I am sure

so my eye is on this place but the urgency at royalston F and G has increased so actual work efforts will be directed there till after this cut

make sense Guy?

oh and back nine design will be ready to be explored soon now that the wells up towards N orange are close to completion I am sure they will be getting the well placements at Holtshire done soon then we can see what is left for options back there

Finally baskets well targets are past a vision and theory and actually being constructed

Bob Picards son is working on them all week...rustic beaver nawed wood..that form a wind chime effect..well hard to describe but they look sweeeet and are mighty functional and fit the natural beaver pond setting up there..

Also TY to TM for donating one of those sleeves he makes to FR who then donated to this..can finally sink the basket Kyle Botti donated

thing is beeefy..

So 3 old Flatrock baskets
1 new innova
and 5 beaver wood chime targets...

weedwhacking soon..some small tee work..then it is putting baskets out...photos and DG review for the world to see it goes

I 100% can't wait

will post pics as Bob P sends them in

I think people will be shocked to see how nice this place really is..it also presents some challenging holes

so soon we have a wrap on things till timber cut/hydrofrack well go in then it is onto the back nine

TY to all who help here

cool TY JW maybe one day I can learn photos to forum...until then TY for your continued efforts to post pics for me..lol

Yes the wood is good...it is actually very dried wood collected around the tully lake area..all nice hardwood plucked from the edges that the beavers left behind...yup chewed up beaver wood

it is light and super durable...has a nice look..picture actually does it lil justice..

the center pole will be replaced with a nice big 6 footer we have plenty and then sunk in ground...

the small pieces are attached with copper and took some time to twine but look good with the wood up close

this is the first one and more of a prototype the constructor matt has ideas to improve already and the next I am sure will look even better..

cool we got all the wood/copper in the world...he has plenty of time..and Bobby wants targets up there asap..perfect storm

so ya hit the wood they click and clank it is good...something to throw at till we get 5 more baskets

TY

edit..it has been tested and hold up to major abuse with a disc

I can't decide if I want to putt at it, or sacrifice something in front of it. Definitely will convert a fair amount of Wicans into disc golfers.
