Re: B Pool Finals Info

Post by Jason Toothy »

Team pHill and TT have agreed upon Maple as a finals location. It took a while, but we were able to nail it down.
Whether or not Maple decided to charge greens fees was not an issue to me or my team at the time.
If they chose to waive them, that's cool. If they chose to charge us, that's cool.
I'm as close to a socialist as you'll see on these boards, but I understand that asking the owner of a top-notch course to shut down operations for a day (and yes, I believe they would clear $400 on a (hopefully) beautiful weekend day in greens fees - Pleasant Hill has had days this winter/spring where they have seen over 200 paid golfers) without compensaton is a tall request.

Let's say each team brought a full roster 16 x 6 = 96 players.

$400/96 = $4.17 per player

Now, let's assume each team brings 12 players and doesn't bring a full roster:

12 x 6 = 72 players

$400/96 = $5.55 per player

We have 10 days before the finals. I would suggest instead of changing either the date or the location of finals, we all try to set aside ~.50 cents per day so we can cover our modest greens fees and not have to subtract it from our $800.

I don't think you are familiar with the definition of hosting. Asking us to pay $400 is not hosting. Plus shutting down Maple for one day would absolutely not cost you $400. There is no way that $400 gets put into Maple in one day for greens fees...come on man!

On a nice day and considering the fee is now $10 it could, plus any merch that people buy because they stuck around instead of going across the street...

Doesnt seem like too much to ask for a nice day of golf on a beautifully maintained championship course. Maybe some of you should just go with the PBR tonight instead of a sixer of nuggest nectar or some good old schwag instead of the purple goblin and you will have the 10 bones to pay. Obviously not up to me and I am biased because I chose to be a member this year but just my 2 cents, I know times are tough and especially people with families have to pinch the penny.

Edit: oh ya Dave you da man and thanks for all your hard work up there helping to keep that place look money and bringing a chill vibe to the sap house and the course itself.

I was just jabbing ya. Did not mean to come across as a jerk. Sorry bud.

I hear ya on the broke concept. Working 29 of the last 30 days and 27 in a row has me completely understanding being short on funds. I just hope somehow there is enough value in the expense to play here, to make it worth all the participants investment.

I hope it all works out.

I cant wait, should be a lot of fun. I am a member and have no issues with paying to close the course for finals. Dave you do a great job up there keeping the course in premium shape. I am also assuming that we will be able to use the Sap house for lunch ?

I'm not sure where the $400 figure came from, but it certainly seems more reasonable than $960.00
I know our team will only probably have 10 players.

Dave Jackson reached out to the captains and gave us the best deal they could. At $400 it works out to 66.66 a team.

I think I am the only one who sees the big picture here! Does anyone else realize that the traffic going to Maple that day would be so minute due to TC Finals for both A and B both playing on the 14th if we didn't have the finals there? Who would be there, a couple handfulls of people who don't play in TC? $400 seems WAY overpriced.

IFF we have no other option, I think the $400 come out of the dues and not our pockets.

It's typically $10.00 to play for the day, $66.66 divided by 18 members, guess what... you are getting a STEAL! And the course will be yours for the day...!

Disagree. You are looking at the numbers too generically. I'm down for compensating for losses, but let's think about this outside the box. Who are the people who usually go and play there? The answer is people who are already involved with TC are probably the majority. There are definately a couple handfuls who pay to play that aren't involved with TC, yes...but who would be there if we had the finals at IE Buff...the answer is very very few. Like I said I am all for compensating for losses, but this seems like a small form of profiteering.

Wasn't going to say anything, but felt like you need to be informed on how busy Maple is... so many newbies and locals play there that aren't a part of team challenge... AT LEAST 40 people would pass through there on any given Saturday... Correct me if I'm wrong Dave...

I am not going to disagree with the fact of 40 peeps rolling through Maple on a Saturday, but like I said...how many are already involved with TC? I would say at least half. That being said, $200 seems like a more fair price.

There's no way in hell that the course traffic on a Saturday at m.hill is even close to dominated (or even 25% comprised) of/by the TC population.

Team challenge doesn't even tap into the huge group of Disc golfers in central MA area... I would say $400 is half and more than fair... Anyways, see ya out there!

1. 400 = FAIR
2. Don't take the 400 out of the 800 we've set aside - each player who participates pays an equal share of the 400 out of pocket.
3. Dave Jackson = cool
4. Balls
5. DUBS = GOLDS
6. Grow a mustache errbuddy

THAT IS ALL
those are my 6 opinions on the matter.

What about members? There is probably a bunch of members...do they have to pay? If not do the rest of us compensate? It's easier to pull from dues.

I think the $400 should be split in 6.

So $66.66 a team.

I don't think we should pay with our dues.

This is the deal for Maple from Dave Jackson for the use of the course day of finals:

"We have decided on a price for the B Pool Finals to take place at Maple Hill.

The price includes us shutting the course down to our Membership as well as our regulars and opening it to the B Pool Finals. How ever many players attend, we can accomodate.

Also included is the usage of the club house all day, which will be furnished with chairs, tables, games, electricity and the best fcuking view from a clubhouse, period

The pro shop will be open and ready for everyone.
A new #17 will be ready to crush all hopes and dreams.

The fee will be $400 for the day.

Todd L. - please address any rules issues we might have. (see my previous posts).

Todd L - please address any rules issues we might have.

The extra we are willing to put up to the participants is we will offer a half price greens fee to anyone interested in playing a practice round from the moment everyone agrees to using Maple Hill as the venue, till Friday the 13th of April. One time usage per player, $5 for all day play. They must be on a team, sign in on the appropriate sign in sheet as "TC5" and play their azzes off.

If there is any way possible you could forward this to the Captains, I'd hug you.

I hope this is an option for everyone."

Seems reasonable to me.
