YES, I also talked to Pat yesterday and thanked him for all he's done and listened while he explained why he had to do it. AND... I plan on bringing him something special to let him know how much we appreciate his effort.
Course DISCussion is a good thing and we need more of it.

I dont live there any longer so my opinions dont count. I was there the last 2 1/2 weeks with the friZZaks, and they were never asked nor called or informed about the movements. They would have gladly helped. Im only saying about hole three, that the positions(new short & original) fit together already. There was no need to move 3 long. It was twice as much work, with a negative result, especially if you cant cut trees. Just saying. Good luck with the changes. Ill be back in 3 weeks to check it out.

The following constructive criticism is an objective opinion and nothing more. Kill me for it if you want.
Obviously par 4's and 5's are great. Aside from that, I like courses that have honest three's, 1 or 2 duece or dies and 1 or 2 really tough threes. Cranbury's must duece holes are 1 and 14 imo. I think of holes 4, 6 and 13 long positions as tweeners. Very tough 3's but not quite 4's. The new pin positions for 3, hole 9's long basket and 18's new pin position all seem to be tweeners also. If more tree removal we're allowed and they could be pushed even farther than they currently are, they'd all be great 4's. Because that's not allowed, it makes more sense to me to keep them in the old ones.
On a side note. if you need some storage place for the baskets, I know just the place

I have to admit that when the old baskets were going in to new shorter positions, I didn't expect to ever play for anything but the new longer baskets . I believe Pat Skidd (who deserves a round of applause) has finished putting a short basket on every single hole. The layout is a perfect course for the absolute beginner. It's also great for ace runs or advanced/pro players using only one disc and honing their upshot skills. If anyone ever wants to play a one disc round to all the shorts, I'm game.

Wood chip Work Day.
Next Saturday May24th 10am
Bring all pitch forks and wheel barrels you can find.
We will have two trucks(Pats and Gintus)
We may even have a bobcat to load them!
Hi all,
The park is getting filled up with wood chips and we need to spread them. Mike has asked us to cover the existing fairways to reduce foot traffic erosion. Pat, Dave, and I have started this monster project and need all hole adopters to help and any other ambitious players.
I have also called the boy scouts and they are getting back to me with dates.
Tee pads--
There is enough stone dust at the park the fill in all tee pads. Please note the bit yours needs and get it done. 1,2,3,5,9,10 and eleven are redone. A five gallon bucket and a drill should do the job. The stone dust is near two's basket and over the wall by 13's basket.
All the park trails will be covered and any help we can give the friends of Cranbury will help us greatly. They are having a sign up party at 5pm on the 31st. I will go and say hi with Pat and Dave as we are all ready members. The more players that join this group the less animosity and cooperation will have at the park.
The park is establishing a 10yr plan centered around an environmental report done last summer. A story about this is available in the Sunday Norwalk hour, first page.
Dave Jones worked his magic again and made 9 tee signs/bag hangers. The front nine are in the ground and more are coming. Signs should be arriving soon.
Kiosk-
Utopia has been kind enough to sponsor our kiosk on hole one. Mike has given the excited nod to this final touch. The footings are in place and construction was due to begin today. Mike is excited that the course is near done! With the final wood chip push we can take a breather till tournament time!
regards,
Whit

Summer of 07 The Gathering of the Vibes was "sold out" and last minute (day of) the people of Utopia were able to get us a couple of tickets for Dan and friends. . . I noticed the disc display racks and lots of other cool swag when we picked up the tickets. . . support your local supporters. . . Utopia = good ish!!! Check it out! http://www.utopiact.com/

whit - tell pat that with few exceptions, the blackberry course plays great. short but technical with a pretty even mix of holes. a couple of locations are a bit flukey, but nothing extreme.
definitely fun to play, and lots of birdie ops. would be really fun for a thursday night doubles

I'm not crazy about putting wood chips on the greens. They prevent the disc from skipping or rolling away.
For Example: On hole 14 an ace run that goes long doesn't release into the wood anymore. It usually just sits in the chips.

Yo,
We have been told by the city to cover all exposed dirt. Area's that were stripped of their leaf litter are very susceptible to erosion. The chips will slow down the disc's, but it will also more importantly slow down ersoion.
This is stemming from a report done last summer called the "king's Mark report". The city has assembled a nine person committee to help plan the future of the park and address its environmental issues. A story about this was printed last Sunday in the Norwalk Hour.
They are meeting next week and I was asked to be one of them. Pat and I are doing to the wood chips to get a head start on them and also, to show we are on board and mean to get the job done.

Spread wood chips around 17's green and a little down the fairway. Also spread chips on path from 17 to 18 and lined the path with the big logs left from the tree that fell. I also noticed that a limb had broken of a tree on the left hand side of the faiway in the group of trees, it is just hanging there. There are two dead trees near the basket. Hope they don't fall on the brand new basket.
I will continue to put time in on hole 17 when ever I get a break from Waveny.
I'm going to try and make doubles Thurs. I'll bring the measuring wheel with me.

Hi,
The work Day went well.
Pat, John, Shaun, Gintus and I continued chipping 10, 2, and started 8. We also cut the log hanging in 7's fairway.
Next SATURDAY will be very busy; the town is providing a bobcat and a third truck.
Start time at 10am.
Tim,
17 looks great! Thank you for pitching in.
Have a great holiday,
Whit
