Now that Pro Worlds is over (which was an absolutely delightful week spent drinking Three Floyds) I am greatly looking forward to the Vibram Open. I would like to make the following offer to any northern Vermont disc golfers: if you're coming to the Vibram Open and would be willing to bring along with a case of Alchemist Heady Topper Double IPA, I will reward you handsomely! A 4-pack normally sells for $12 and therefore a case of 24 cans would run you $72. Do me this favor and I'll gladly furnish you with $100 for your efforts, which is a keen profit. Any Waterbury or Burlington disc golfers up to the task? If so, please let me know!!!

Reprising my role as Assistant Captain of Partying at this year's Vibram Open (or as TD Steve Dodge prefers to call it: "Assistant TO the Captain of Partying) I'm really looking forward to Wednesday's Vibram Open Kick Off Field Day, presented by Berkshire Brewing Company.

Events of the day include:
Five Spots Qualifier - our toughest field yet
Vibram Open Team Skills Competition - watch as we pit manufacturer vs manufacturer
NT Clinic - Discuss tips and techniques with the pros
Meet the Champs - Meet Cale Leiviska and Catrina Allen, the reigning Vibram Open champs!
Mandatory Players Meeting - Open to the public
Kick Off Party - Hob nob with the competitors of the Vibram Open

Should be interesting to see what BBC decides to give us, I'll still gladly drink whatever. I realize that it's a little unrealistic to expect some of their more celebrated beers like the Coffeehouse Porter or Berkshire Russian Imperial Stout, but a man can always dream.

Will probably be some Berkshire Ale or Lost Sailor India Pale Ale, which will go down just fine with me. :drunken:

If you're a fan of really high end beer, I'm convinced that more choice brews per capita are consumed at the Vibram Open than at any other tournament! Courtesy of Jason "Cutt" Land I was able to enjoy Founders KBS, courtesy of Jeff Spring I was able to consume a number of Alchemist Heady Toppers, and I saw dozens of others consuming tasty choices like Hill Farmstead, Ithaca Flower Power, Three Floyds, Uinta Hop Notch, Wachusett Larry, etc. But perhaps the pièce de résistance was noticing that Naved Hasnain and Jerome Knott had bottles of Stone Enjoy By 09.13.13. For those not familiar with the concept, Stone Brewing Company has a new line of IPAs produced regularly through the year which are meant to be consumed at the height of freshness. Well I stopped at Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge and was able to score a whole case of this incredible delight, woo-hoo! If you haven't had the opportunity, I highly recommend tasting for yourself just how good an IPA at the height of freshness can taste. :thumleft:

Thanks to Felix Rentschler (sorry if I butchered your name) I got to try a taste of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA laast weekend. It's out of San Diego, CA. It's described as "...showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon." My description is yummy!

Defintely a top 10 IPA in my book.
Thanks to Rob Tatro for the one he gave me after the NEDGC. :salut:

That said, I had a Southern Tier Warlock last night......... a Pumpkin Stout.
Very Yummy.
Might have to get another after work today.

All this basically means now is that you MUST go to one of 140 local establishments in northern Vermont licensed by Alchemist to buy Heady Topper. However, there are no guarantees that on any given day these establishments haven't already sold out of their allottment of Heady...and the cannery used to post on Facebook and Twitter when the cannery had sold out.

Best thing to do is to copy down the list from the Alchemist website, look up phone numbers, and call up places and check availability before you drive up...and maybe also beg them to put a couple of 4-packs behind the counter for you.

I have a sister that lives way, way upstate in NY and drives past Waterbury when she comes down to MA. She was my HT delivery person for the last year and a half, because she could stop and get a case with minimal effort. I'm not asking her to hit 6 different stores on her way through northern VT just to bring me beer.

So it's bad news for me.

Poor decision on their part.

There's not telling how much these stores are going to charge now either.

They claim to have pretty strict controls on pricing... How true that is, I'm not sure.

Heard one theory that they've run into zoning issues due to the amount of traffic the cannery has generated on that road. Maybe they're working on a solution and will be selling direct at some point in the future? I don't know, but I hope that's the case.

All I know is, the last 4 cans in my fridge are gonna have to last me longer than I thought they would.

Honestly I like the Lawson's double sunshine better than heady t. Stop by the Warren store when you are up there, they usually have it. They get the deliveries thursdays and fridays.

Wish I had Monday off so I could take a trip up there. Oh well.

In other news, recently discovered Victory Brewing Co Dirt Wolf. Might be my new go-to Double IPA. Tasty. Not as complex as HT, but good stuff for sure.

Loving the guys at the new Craft Beer Cellar in Westford. Beer tastings every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This week - Troegs, Ithaca and Newburyport Breweries. Gonna be an expensive weekend as I drown my Heady Topper-less sorrows.

Lawson's make some great stuff. If you haven't had Triple Play yet, I would highly recommend it. It's better than Double Sunshine IMO.

Just saw a recent update on the status of the Alchemist Brewery's efforts to make Heady Topper more accessible. Sounds like they hope to build another brewery with a retail center, but haven't identified the right property yet. Link to full article below:

Samuel Adams Rebel IPA. Just tried it on tap Monday night at new pub in Leominster, MA. I am going on the record by saying I am not a Sam Adams fan, but in this case they finally got it right. Comparisons to VT style IPA's - no I am not joking. It is damn good! http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/food/blogs/99bottles/2013/12/review_samuel_adams_rebel_ipa.html
