Same here. Bear, for the record, no one's piling on Joe. As I've stated before, Teams have already won on away courses during this regular season, so I don't see what the big deal is about WT and a perceived advantage for any team there. Here's an idea, whatever course is chosen, teams can then schedule their nuetral mathes at that course for the purposes of gaining familiarity....sound good?

McManus,
the line is crossed when you tell a volunteer what he should have been doing with his free time. You could have simply stated you were anxious to see the results and been polite.

Mike,
I don't know how the official voting worked I wasn't a part of it. My problem with you is you commented on Joe whining when he is doing all this hard work at no profit. He's got a right to whine when he starts to get sh*t from people. It's like a homeless guy complaining about the soup at a free kitchen. You don't like it don't eat it. Also I lobbied for Tully I think it would be an awseome place to have it and give the course some exposure but my captain voted WT and I support his decision because he does all the work and provides me with a team to compete on.

I agree with most of what you say Heenan, with the exception that Joe has a right to whine. Sometimes a simple question is asked, and it is unfairly percieved as whining. Not to say I have been a model of what I expect on this board, because I do admit that I like to incite people at times to see the reaction. For the most part Joe has done a good job as the commish, especially considering the amount he is getting paid. However, I don't see a need to rush to a decision on finals 5 months away. I have never played Tully, and would love to see that used as a truly neutral site. I will play wherever Joe tells us the finals will be.
Consider this wine corked.

Mike I meant he had a right to whine because he's doing alot of work that benefits others. My problem came not with a question you asked but commenting on him crying like a baby. I don't know you well enough to know if you were joking, but we are both teachers and can often relate to what it's like to constantly try to help people and recieve no appreciation but a hard time instead. I'm sure from time to time you have whined about student's misbehaving or being disrespectful in your class while you are trying to give them an education

I've missed lots of stuff here. I've been working 65-70 hours a week lately with the snow flying. I just want to clear one thing up though.
I voted for Barre for the finals. I did'nt even really consult with the team, because I knew there was going to be a 4-4 vote tie between West Thompson and Barre. I figured we would have the oppertunity to play @ Tully since I voted for Barre and knew the voting was going to end in a tie between West Thompson and Barre. It's the obvious choice and easy to see why.
Just clearing up what was apparently misunderstood.

Not to question the commish but Yaskis said it was 4-2-2, even though you just wrote above it's 4-3-1. Not to be a hater or anything just trying to get things correct. Also, Jackson said he didn't vote for Tully so that may be another misunderstanding.

Joe, try not to be so quick to equate clarifying questions as complaints ... I know it's hard not to, especially when you put alot of hard work and thought into the whole process, but many are curious and just want things simplified.

It's something that I had to figure out (the hard way sometimes) after hundreds of inquisitions over the past 4 years while I ran the Borderland Thursday Night League Point Series.

The new commish should keep this in mind ... just sayin' :thumright:

If I made a mistake then I made a mistake. Keep in mind people were voting to me Via Pm and then changing minds/decisions.

We will play at TULLY then. It doesnt matter where we play. Good luck to all. You will need it. Rob, I realize you did a lot for disc and I consider you one of my good friends. We will move on and I hope all are pleased now.

TULLY and it is on.

I have left this thread - Spread the word. Sorry for any confusion.

Tully Lake = neutral site

I don't think more then one or two of Team Wick have played Tully. Looking forward to checking out a new course.

I am almost certain that none of Borderland members have played there. This will be a good site for the final neutral challenge.

Steve, lets consider it for our January match.

Now that the site is settled, can we start a discussion about format? I have never played Tully, so don't know for sure, but I know stableford requires a mix of pars for it to work well(3s, 4s, 5s). If the course is all par threes, a new format should be considered.
I think the idea of stroke play would be good enough for dubs and trips.

Anyone that has played there know if there are more then par threes?

I agree with Mike.

Based on the website, there are 3 Par 4's... I guess those will be the "separators" as in, 2's on these holes will win you the championship.

Stroke would make sense.

Either way is fine with me.

One of those par fours is more like a par three.
Hole#15 427ft raised tee very reachable, more like a par three.
Hole#12 is only 401ft but has many trees in the way, could be a three.
Hole #9 at 585 is the only true par four.

Then I think Mike is right, if Ace is the only way to net you 5 pts.. we should go with stroke.

I must be the only Wickite that hasn't played Tully. How would the rest of Team Wick like to have our Jan. challenge will B-land there?

Stroke play please; no stableford! We don't play stableford all year, why at the finals?

Bitch, bitch, moan, moan... :?

Ditter, lets hear it about the Jan. Challenge site, and we will begin to choose a date.

yea I think stableford is unnecessary as well.. But whatever the format, we all got to play it the same, so who really cares.

Exactly.

The only difference I see, is that I think it's easier to keep score with straight stroke play as opposed to stableford.
